Had always been curious about this place, even pre-pandemic and then recently heard a review on a podcast and decided to put my grubhub gift card to use. We ordered the Poutine (sometimes hard to find in the AV), Blackened Fish Tacos & Tots, and Irish Nachos (creative!). All arrived steaming hot and crispy, even the fries and tots (we're a 15min+ drive from their business so that's is a great accomplishment keeping everything crispy!) My wife loved the fish tacos (the wasabi added an extra kick!) but thought the bao bun was a little too doughy for her. Tacos came with a HUGE portion of crispy tots too. The poutine was exactly what it should be and actually had cheese curds, a lot of places will swap it out for mozzarella and it ruins it, and loved the handcut fries. Added the egg for an extra $1, well worth it! We both agree the Irish nachos were the hit out of the three plates. So much flavor, and crispy housemade? tortilla chips. We also like that the to-go containers were lined with parchment paper, so we could just lift it out and drop the entrees right on our own plates so we didn't have to eat out of styrofoam. We're not dining out yet, but can't wait to hit up this place for drinks and more food when things are baack to "normal". read more

I'm in total shock at the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I just called the number listed on FB so I could see about making a reservation for a party of 16 for a work event. I called two times with no answer, and figured they were busy with another customer so I waited 15 minutes and called again. The guy picks up the phone and yells, "Who is this? Why do you keep calling?" I asked if it was the number for Challenger Tap House, thinking I surely got the wrong number because nobody at a business would act this way, and he kept shouting over me, "Yeah it is, who is this? Are you advertising or what? Why do you keep calling this number?" I was totally stunned and said I was calling for reservations, but now I think I'll refrain from ever coming here, especially to bring my large work groups that I regularly schedule events for. It came out so hot that I couldn't even eat it, after stirring and sitting for almost 30 minutes, it was still too hot to eat, and absolutely dripping with oil! It was literally puddling around it, it was disgusting! When I mentioned to the waitress, she was very indifferent, she said the oils were because of the cheese, and told me to stir it... like what? This place has the very best Friday Fish and chips. The fish pure sweet fresh cod and the chips also fab, both fried to perfection. I obsess over this dish and have eaten other very very good places. Last night 2/28/2020, I did something I've actually never done before. After I paid for my meal I wrote on my receipt, "worst meal I've ever eaten!" and I meant it with all sincerity. I'd never been to the Challenger TapHouse so when my friends suggested it I jumped at the chance, BIG MISTAKE ! The place was decorated nicely and our waitress was very friendly so she can't be blamed for my bad experience,I'll lay that at the feet of the owner and the cook. I pork chop, garlic mashed potatoes and the seasoned grilled vegetables. After specifically asking that the pork chop the extra well done it came out anything but that And I received my plate before my 2 friends got their meals. For the record I hate eating in shifts when I go out with people. I sent the pork chop back to be cooked longer and then they brought it all out again, this time it was slightly more well done but the rest of the items really left something to be desired. The grilled vegetables I was looking forward to turned out to be vertically sliced yellow squash and zucchini, floppy and greasy laid around the edge of the plate. I'd have to say the worst part were the garlic mashed potatoes, usually I like these very much. At first I thought she'd forgotten to bring the mashed potatoes out until she pointed out that no, they were underneath the pork chop. When I lifted up the pork chop there they were , a runny greasy mess that looked nothing like mashed potatoes but more like greasy country gravy. To make matters worse the pork chop barely had any meat on it. As I said this was one of the worst meals I've ever had and by the way did I mention the cost was over $25. I won't be back. read more

More than a sports bar! We decided to check this place for Thursday night football. This is definitely a step up from a typical sports bar! The Atmosphere is casual of course and numerous TVs, but there are 2 things that set this apart from regular sports bars: the vast beer selection and the food made from scratch! We tried a variety of items and shared! the Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese ( that is buttery with a little kick) and the sautéed Brussels sprouts were fantastic! We moved on to the the large wings ( real, not the frozen chicken nugget type). We had the Jamaican jerk and buffalo, both were delicious! We shared the house burger on a brioche bun, as are all the burgers and it was fresh an full of flavor! Finally, we topped it off with a Drunken Peach Crisp that's as good as it sounds! Meanwhile, the beer was flowing! From seasonal selections to American lagers, there must've been over 30 to choose from! Our server Lucy was on it! She knew about the beers and well as each and every item on the menu! Excellent service! I highly recommend this restaurant/sports bar as it is quite a few steps above any other in town! read more

We stopped in for a quick beer and get some wings to go for the road as we had a long drive back and after about 40min of waiting we decided to cancel the wing order and just be on our way, the "manager" decided to walk over and create a scene by raising his voice about how we should be more patient about waiting for food since we came into a "restaurant". The challenger tap house was great when it first opened but has seriously dipped in quality since then. The burgers were tasty but within minutes the bread was so soggy and mushy, it has to be eaten quickly or else it becomes a challenge to get down. The pork belly sandwich has all of the right ingredients and flavors but is sloppily thrown together and falls apart the second you pick it up, the pork belly itself comes in 3 large pieces and is so dense and chewy that the whole piece comes out of the sandwich when you try to bite through it. (Why not shred the pork? Or cut it into smaller bite sized pieces?) Lastly I spent $2 extra for onion rings and they were completely inedible, they were so doughy and tasted like someone made a pizza with nothing other than dough and onion. Very disappointing, will probably be my last time here. read more
