Picked up our order for the holidays and was served a tray of well done roast beef. They said this was all they had which doesn't make sense when there was a slab of fresh meat on the counter that was medium rare. I would say majority of population does not eat well done meat. Up until now, I was a Nick's Roast Beef guy. After today, I'm seriously challenging that notion. I couldn't resist trying a roast beef sandwich here while the wife got tacos across the way. Now, a roast beef sandwich with swiss cheese and mushrooms on a round roll is $7.95. Seems mildly steep. But, the amount of beef they give you more than makes up for it. Has to be around a 1/2 pound if not more. The mushrooms are big and you have to eat them with a fork because they fall out of the sandwich easily. I found that grabbing one with a fork and putting it on the section you were going to bite was a good technique. And they serve it with a side cup of au jus. This sandwich was fantastic! Juicy beef, flavorful toppings, big and fresh roll, everything you would ask for. It's a bit of a different flavor than what Nick's gives you. You taste more of the beef straight up in this one. Nick's tends to be more seasoned. They both have their good parts. Ordered a side of steak fries, and they were OK. Nothing fancy. Thought $2.50 was a little high for what you get. But no matter. I did not try the roast pork, but they have a running special where you buy one pork sandwich and get the second one free. I can't understand why they would give them away like that. If I thought I could eat two sandwiches I'd go for it. It is a Booth's Corner gem for sure! read more

Just paid $8.50 for the puniest roast beef sandwich we've ever seen. For that price, they should at least throw in some chips and a pickle. We stop in once in a while for some sandwiches to go - they usually have a buy one get one deal on the pork sandwiches - I think we'll stick with that from now on. DOG FOOD! Shockingly bad and offensive service! Yesterday, I walked in and purchased one of their late day bulk roast beef specials. When I went to sit down, the older employee (owner?) at the cash register told me (ready for this)... This was DOG FOOD and I was not allowed to eat the roast beef that I bought in their restaurant at a table. It was only good for dogs (or sandwiches, strangely enough)! Never again. The food is very shoddy and the service is even worse. Can you imagine any restaurant selling food to people and calling it DOG FOOD? These are THEIR WORDS! Possibly the best fast food place in Booth's Corner. Was packed on Friday night but we received fast and friendly service. My husband had a roast beef sandwich and said it was the best he had had in some time. Roast beef is their specialty and probably gets a decent turnover, so you always get fresh beef. I had a turkey bowl and was going to complain about poor presentation (how it's all mixed in together and does not look appetizing) when I realized that I am talking about a $6 turkey bowl. One of the best roast beef sandwiches I have ever had. Staff is very friendly and fast. The restaurant itself has a dive feel but has probably the most space to eat of all the other restaurants in booths corner. Unlike most places you can request how rare or well done you would like your roast beef sandwich. Overall a simple sandwich that does not lack flavor and is super tender. Hand carved roast beef. Make sure you tell them how you want it. Like outside, wet or dry. Usually first rate. I hate when it's cut too thick or fatty. But they do a nice job. A bit on the high end. The pork sandwich is usually 2 for the price of one and is a real bargain. Not many places hand carve anymore. The carved ham is very good too. So are the fried mushrooms. For those that say this place has good roast beef must have never experienced a Nick's roast beef. Don't get me wrong, they give you a lot of beef for the money but quantity does not beat quality. It was cooked medium rare which is perfect but it lacked flavor and the Au Jus did not help it any. The onion rings were good as well as the fries but here is the real reason why I am giving this place 1 star. The sandwiches come with pickles. My friend hates pickle so she asked the waitress can she take it away. I love pickles so I said that I would eat it. The waitress uses her bare hands to pick the pickle up off her plate and put it onto mine. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forget how much the total bill came to but at that price I felt like we could have ate at a chain restaurant and got better food and service so it was not worth it to us and I will never go back. read more

I had the Roast Beef Sandwich with Sharp Provolone and Long Hots. I go here regularly on the weekends. I like: The Roast Beef is cooked perfect, quite lean and juicy. The au jus is great. The cajun steak fries are what you would expect. Dip them in the au jus and they are beyond great. The long hots are always green and have the right amount of spice to them. I didn't like: That it isn't open 7 days/ week. I would go back and definitely recommend it for anyone. It's tough to compare it to Nick's Old Original but every time I put the 2 head to head, Chamberlain's come out on top. read more

I'm a huge fan of their roast beef sandwiches and especially their steak fries. There are way too many establishments that use the new preseasoned fries which taste horrible. Went there just before noon to grab an order to go. Woman behind the counter told me she would be right with while taking care of another customer. When she was done with them she did t even look my way and started cleaning and talking to the other people until one of the servers asked if she was going to take care of the to go order I ordered 3 sandwiches and fries, with the sandwiches packed separate. 2 of the sandwiches were done quickly while I stood there waiting for them to make the 3rd but they were too busy carrying on a conversation instead of making the food. Finally the guy started making the roast beef sandwich and of course made it as if I was eating it there. He then realized it was a to go order after dumping juice all over it. So as I'm watching he takes it off that bun and puts it on another one of course all while he continues to hold a conversation. The woman gave me the sandwich and I told her it was supposed to be packed superset and she told me they "don't put juice on it". I told her I just watched him do it and she gave me attitude. Another man behind the counter told her not to worry about it and make another sandwich which she did while looking frustrated. Finally she hands me the bag and I asked if the French fries were it and she walks away frustrated again to get the fries. Finally by the time I got home found that the fries were soggy and terrible. Normally this place is better but this time I wish I went somewhere else where they actually take care of customers instead carry on conversations. I love Chamberlains sandwiches!!! The food is spot on. The atmosphere however is dirty and dingy. I gave it 4 stars because of the food but I have to say I hate actually sitting down and eating there. It grosses me out a little. don't let the no frills (seriously NO FRILLS) setting put you off. or the fact that the sandwiches themselves are pretty simply dressed: meat on a roll with a pickle spear on the side. after one bite, you forget everything and can't help but express wonder at how they can serve up such a supremely tasty and juicy sandwich with weirdly little to no fat. not that it's necessary, but there are pots of sweet and hot peppers and horseradish at each table (and a squeeze bottle of a horseradish and ranch dressing sauce). and while i prefer my roast beef to be cut maybe a little thinner, if thicker slabs produce a scrumptious taste/bite like this, consider me converted. and if you're hungry for sides, you should know that chamberlain's has probably THE BEST sweet potato fries i've ever had in my life. wait, let me say that again, BEST. they're thankfully crisp and not heavily soaked in oil, maybe due to the light, thin batter coating (something i'm usually against but it works here). opt for them over the steak fries (meh) and maybe order another just in case you're forced to share. read more

I've been eating their roast beef sandwiches for at least 15 years. Always the best. Try them with sharp provolone.

Its not cheap but you get what you pay for they load the sandwiches with beef. I always ask for extra cheese otherwise the cheese to meat ratio is a little off. They give you a side of sauce that I normally just poor on to my sandwich its delicious. I'm not in love with their fries but I don't like steak fries in general I think they are too soft. The staff is pleasant the kind of crew you would expect in a roast beef shop. All and all a good place to swing by if your in Booths Corners. read more

It's my second time going here because I really love their roast beef! It truly is the best that I have had in Delaware County. Their service is excellent and the staff is friendly. Was jonesin' for a roast beef sandwich and hadn't been here in a while so my fiancee and I decided to stop in. We both got the roast beef sandwich w provolone and an order of fries. We must've gotten a really good batch or maybe I forgot how good their roast beef is, but my sandwich was to die for!!! The meat was lean, moist, tender, and succulent, especially dipped in the au jus. I liked how they had horseradish and other condiments on the table. The french fries were homemade and tasty. They pack so much beef on the sandwich that I ended up taking half home and having it for lunch the next day, and it was every bit as good. The service was friendly and prompt, what you would expect for a farmer's market cafe. The only down-side is that the location is inside a pretty run-down farmer's market. All the tables were dirty and it didn't look like they were wiped down in between customers. Also, our clothes and hair smelled pretty bad when we left, kind of a greasy, burnt smell. On the other hand, I didn't come here for fine dining. All in all, the roast beef sandwich is THE BEST I EVER HAD, and the service was just right for the area. read more

I was kinda disappointed to be honest. I have walked past here a thousand times and was expecting the hand carved beef to taste as good as it looks and smells. The beef itself is tender, lean and ample, however, where's the flavor? Maybe I was expecting too much for the $8 sandwich? It was on a fresh roll, and the horseradish is the sinus clearing variety you would expect from a good beef joint. However, the beef was lacking in seasoning and the "au jus" that came with it, was flavorless (and that's being generous). Don't get me wrong, I don't want the seasoning to overpower the flavor of the beef, but c'mon, give me a little something to enhance the beef and at least hint of slow roasted goodness. Nope. Booths are dirty actually saw sour flies (i.e. gnats) laying on the table...ugh...there were 2 women "standing around" by the service area so why they can't take a minute to wipe down tables??? This is normally one of my must haves while visiting my home town! I always love their sandwiches. I got two roast beef sandwiches to go. The staff is nice, although they don't smile much. I paid $17.89 for two sandwiches. I brought them home. My dad complained the whole time how horrible the meat was. It was sliced way too thick. Many pieces were all fat and grissle. Both containers of au jus were not closed properly and spilled all over the bag and half gone. The meat had a horrible texture and almost every bite my father and I are pulling out of our mouths. Very expensive and not what it used to be, any more. I really hope next time I am in town, they have gotten their selection of beef to be better. I will do a review again then. The man behind the counter was incredibly nice and gave my whining daughter a water bottle. A month ago i requested extra beef at a cost of two dollars a sandwich. When i got home each sandwich had four slices of beef. . Next time there i mentioned it and was told if it happened again to let them know , ( ques i was out four dollars). A month later 9/13 ( i got two beef sandwiches for take out, ( $8.50 a piece) Sandwich was lousy , chewy, no meat. Instead of forcing the other sandwich down i brought it back, assuming owner would say no problem, that happens with beef sometimes. Instead the owner and two other employees took the sandwich apart and examined it. The owner was clearly upset . ( at me ) I asked if there was a problem, he told me i was the only person in twenty years to complain about and return a sandwich. Yeah , right, sure i was I bet if he were to go out to eat and got a bad $8.50 sandwich, he would be the first to complain and refuse to pay for it . He should read some of the other reviews on this site. He has no issue taking your money, he just does not want to hear a complaint. Every time i get take out i go out of my way to tip the waitress nicely for the takeout order . Of course everyone of them looked at me like i was some type of a low life . I WAS GAINING NOTHING,I feel i am a nice, generous, customer, and thats what i get. I got my replacement sandwich , took it home an fed it to the neighbors dog. I informed the owners for two years they had MY HOME telephone number on THEIR yelp web site and kept receiving phone calls for orders for the two years; I was understanding at first; even gave the customers the correct number; but after a while the situation was just annoying and never heard from anyone from the business; just their customers; even though I left message after message for the owners. As you can imagine; this became extremely bothersome: call after call after call.
