I had a very good feeling about Mel's as soon as we walked in. It appeared that Mel was back there training some new employees. The place was clean and organized. I got a good feeling about Mel's. I decided to get the ultimate cheesesteak. The ultimate cheesesteak is a filet mignon cheesesteak. It has a $16.95 price tag. That should have been a flashing red beacon of 'Jim don't get this cheesesteak.' The meat was very good. I repeat, the meat was very good. I don't think the other stuff worked with the meat. The roll was pretty traditional. It had a Mel made cheesy combination of American cheese and Wiz, I thought this was too much. I think the great meat only needed complementary pieces. By far one of my favorites! This place will amaze you, yes hard to get into but all of there food is fabulous!!! I especially love there square party pizzas and any of there cheese steak's, I've had a lot!! Buffalo chicken cheesesteak yep another favorite! Definitely give them a try! I was going to order from this place on GrubHub but they wanted a $6 delivery fee there, so I called up and they said if I did it directly with them it would only be $3. So I did. The young lady on the phone said she was new, and I tried to give her leeway, but there's a difference between being new and being a moron. I ordered a medium taco pizza, and I repeated at least four times (because of how much I repeated EVERYTHING, more in a sec) that I wanted it EXTREMELY WELL DONE and CRISPY. I also ordered the mozzarella sticks, and then I ordered a piece of cheesecake. This young lady could not wrap her head around what I was asking for! It went like this: Me:Could I get a piece of cheesecake? Her: What size? Me:Um.. I didn't realize there were sizes? On your menu I just see one piece for $3.95. Her: Well, did you want it on a bun, or a hoagie, or...? Me:OH! I see the problem. I am not ordering a cheese steak. I am ordering a PIECE of CHEESE CAKE. C - A - K - E. Her: Oh, okay. Did you want small, medium or large. Me: (pause) Ok again, I'm not seeing sizes on your menu, so I'm not sure... it just says one SLICE is $3.95. Her: OH. You want CHEESE CAKE. Me: (pause) Yes, I literally just SPELLED it out to you so I'm not sure how we're continuing to have a miscommunication. After all that, my $3.95 piece of cheesecake was disgusting. It was incredibly small for that price, and it was HOT and MELTING. The end of it was basically a liquid gunk lump. The mozz sticks aren't so much sticks as big rectangles the size of a hash brown. You get 3 which is like 6 sticks, but my 3 were melted into a gross mash of congealed cheese and breading chunks. And then the pizza. The one I said numerous times I wanted well done and crispy. Was mushy. I knew it would go that direction because of all the toppings, which is WHY I was so clear about how I wanted it cooked. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

I got there wings & cheesesteak. I got the wings they were good. The cheesesteak wasn't chip steak it was a thicker cut of steak. That's the negative thing I didn't like. I ordered the penne alla vodka plain and it was delicious. I must add that I am super picky and penne vodka is one of my all time favorite dishes but I only like it from a number (2) of Italian restaurants. I ordered it twice this week. My husband ordered the tortellini Alfredo and he said his was really good too. I've had there pizza and it's really good. I've learned to order it with lite cheese since we're not big cheese people. I ordered the upside down pizza w mushrooms and onions and it was amazing!! I read another review that recommended it and I can see why. The sauce is a little on the sweeter side. Lots of cheese and nice crispy crust. Also tried the fried pickles they were a little aggressive way too much breading and not sure if it came with a sauce cause I had asked for ranch but would've been good with something a little spicy if they're gonna include one. Mel's Pizza is superb and I'm a pizza snob! Also fresh cut fries! Enough said!! Great staff! Super friendly! Very prompt with your order. A few downsides...I wish they would incorporate a few healthy options or vegetarian options. A veggie burger would be great!!! Also, anytime we have ordered a eggplant parm sandwich or a sandwich with melted cheese they just slap the cheese on top and wrap it quick which causes all the cheese to stick to the wrap and not the sandwich. Very disappointing! Suggest they put cheese on bottom or figure out another way. Otherwise, the food is exceptional in taste! Pizza is a great refresh as they offer a wide variety. Their "Switch It" pizza is the best in the area. Sauce is on top with mozzarella on the bottom (not provolone). When you take a slice - it's heavy - they do not skimp in the cheese and the sauce is delicious! The.crust is perfect - nice crack to it- not wimpy so pizza sags. You can hold the pizza in one hand. Also, their garden salad is fantastic! Loaded with veggies and they do not skimp. Had the onion rings and they were great - big pieces and lots of them! Also had boneless and bonein wings - both good and large. This is my new favorite pizza shop. read more

Chicken Caesar Salad was absolutely foul. The Caesar dressing tasted like Mayonnaise. I had to double check to make sure it wasn't. The croutons were rock hard and stale. I took 2 bites and threw it away. Gross, get better salad dressing. read more

We love Mel's! It has become one of our go-to take out places. Their Sicilian style pizza is especially awesome! And they make great wraps and fries too! The only thing we've had that we weren't wild about were the cheese steaks. Pizza though: definitely amazing. read more

Tried this place twice. Once when they were fairly new, only grabbed a pizza and large fries. The pizza was sloppy, undercooked and just not good. Our large fry was not even a full sized small in my opinion. Definitely disappointed with the amount. We vowed to not try them again. However, we decided to try them again (benefit of the doubt since they were so new). We ordered a pizza, cheesesteak and fries. The fries were fine and a decent amount this time. The pizza was cooked better, but it really was just not good. Nothing specific, just not good. The cheesesteak was not chipped, not hot and the cheese mostly not melted. Would never order that again. I think we're just done with this place. So many better places around. Two stars because the people seem nice and the place was clean. read more

We were excited to see a new menu with different options, from salads to flatbreads and pizza. So, I guess it was my fault to start the order with high hopes.... With that said... I had a house full of disappointed hungry people after the order arrived. Our order consisted of: Orange avocado spinach salad: too much spinach, little to no avocado, and the most obnoxious orange slices. The only thing that was tolerable was the house dressing. Waffle Fries: soggy and cold! Hawaiian Pizza: arrived cold and we had to reheat. Nothing gourmet about it. Ultimate Cheesesteak- actually not that bad. It was different to see filet on a cheesesteak which made it a little too chewy but I didn't get much complaints there. The reason I'm even giving a star is because the delivery was fast and the girl on the phone was very friendly. The best pizza place in Delco !! The customer service and food is fabulous ! We just had boneless bbq wings and the mels burger ,we got it delivered it came quickly and was hot . For dessert I decided on the carrot cake , it was soo good my husband was upset I didn't get him a piece , so he called back and asked if we could order a whole cake to share with our friends and family new years eve .. he then asked if they would deliver it for us tonight , it was here within 10mins !! We have eaten here many times since they first opened and enjoyed every time. However, over the past 2 months it appears they have changed their crust and it no longer makes them stand apart from others. It also appears their fries are now frozen and mozzarella isn't the same. This place is a must try! One of the best places in Aston, and there aren't too many. Don't let the look or location of the building be a deciding factor. Easily the worst pizza place I have been to in the area. Everything my family ate had to be throw away. Not only was the pizza terrible. We also tried what was their version mozzarella stick. One of the better steaks in aston. I'm always looking for a place like Joe's or Shank's in aston and I was pleasantly surprised. Solid onions, good quality meat and a proper roll. The fresh cut fries were great too. I'll probably be getting most of my steaks there. I don't give 5 stars, especially for such a small sample size, but I will definitely go back and that's the true rating. My wife enjoyed the buffalo chicken wrap also.
