Found Dicostanza Sandwich on Yelp and it was beyond great. A small Italian was nearly a foot. Compared to a Subway there is no comparison. The man that greeted me, made my sandwich and later came out to clean tables and asked me how it was is actually a 3rd generation grandson of the founder nearly 100 years ago. I miss Philly food. I live in Maryland now so, whenever I or my wife get back to the Philly area we always grab a cheesesteak or a hoagie to bring home from somewhere. My wife recently returned from the area and brought me back an Italian hoagie from DiCostanza's. I was so excited. Opened the wrapping and thats where the excitement stopped. Meat, cheese, tomato. That's their hoagie. This was probably the most boring sandwich I've ever had. Completely flavorless. I have no idea how this place has almost 5 stars. Maybe their other food is better but, the hoagie, aint a hoagie. If you like boring, this is your joint. You want a flavorful hoagie, there's better places in the area. Great sandwich shop if you are in the area. I haven't stopped by in a year or two and the place hasn't changed at all. The staff is still super nice and helpful and although the inside could use a little updating, it still has a bit of charm. I ordered an Italian hoagie and once it came out I remembered how big a small sized hoagie from here is! It can easily feed two people. If they made a mini size it may actually be a normal sized hoagie. The Italian is stacked with Prosciutto, capicola, salami and provolone cheese. I also added tomato, oregano, light oil and hot peppers. Warning: the hot peppers are hot cherries so they are indeed hot ... and plentiful! The roll was fresh and a little chewy and although the meats are plentiful they won't blow you away flavor wise. I think the addition of the hot peppers helped with that! The service was prompt, friendly and comes with a smile. I have never had a bad visit. If you enjoy sandwiches built on quantity this is your spot. The quality of the meats is solid and not over the top, but overall the sandwich is above average. The prices are more than fair for the serving size! I really wanted to like this place more, and if I could give half stars I would. Overall it wasn't terrible, but just not worth the price + time spent getting the food. Had a feeling I should call ahead, but phone was either busy or just kept ringing. Decided to drive there and wait it out, which turned into a 45 minute wait. Turns out they dont (or at least didnt when I was there) answer the phone. Ordered a cheesesteak w/ fried onions, italian hoagie, and chicken fingers w/ fries. Cheesesteak - wasnt bad, but you could tell the grill hadnt been cleaned enough before this sandwich was made. There was a slight gristle taste that Ive tasted elsewhere before and wasnt too surprised of tasting. Hoagie - they dont use lettuce (haven't encountered this before) which I didn't think would be a big deal but flavor wise it was. Also the roll wouldnt close, and no it wasnt because of an overabundance of meat. Chicken fingers and fries - standard bagged and frozen so not worth talking about. Though they use Kens honey mustard which I love. All in all, I wont be back. Ro-Lynn on Edgemont is alot better, closer, and they answer their phones. read more

Oh no, I did not forget to post my review on DiConstanza's, just been a little busy but now that I have more than enough time to express the experience I had...Disappointing. Always heard about their hoagies being so good and even when I pulled up to the shop I seen alot of ppl going in and out so you would assume that either "Yes, their still good" or they'll always be good by the looks of the traffic of customers. Ordered a small Italian hoagie which I have to say was a decent size for $8 and a little change. Smelled good and all but the first thing I noticed, the presentation was off. The hoagie looked like anybody could throw it together, wasn't looking appetizing. Ordered my usual Italian over the phone just so it could be quicker since it was always said it could take a while if ordering in the store. Extra mayonnaise, light onion, oil and oregano. Know that it was heard over the phone loud and clear cause my order was repeated to me and I confirmed. The best thing off this hoagie was probably the roll it was on cause it was soft, would be real good if the rest wasn't trash. My first bite wasn't impressing. The next bite wasn't then the next and so on. Kept biting trying to taste EXTRA MAYO but their was NONE at all. Honestly the onions were okay too I forgot to mention but the hoagie is basic as hell and taste like a grocery store could made a better one. Overall, no I wouldn't recommend this spot for a hoagie unless you or somebody's struggling with starvation. Maybe it was hype about here or they've lost their touch but I know Im really unimpressed and had way better. My first and last trip here Im sorry. Not even given them another try for a Turkey and cheese and that's not even hard to make. DiConstanza's appreciate the loyal customers you have cause after that performance I don't see how it's that many. I ordered 2 Italian subs and 2 cheesesteaks. The place is a staple in Delco and is well known. The service was fast and the price reasonable. The Italian Sub was soo good!! We took a 30 minute drive from Newark Delaware to check this place out. 20 inch subs were $20+ each. We got the honey turkey sub and it was pretty well packed, seasoned well and tasted really good. Only critique is it had too much oil on it, don't save the other half for lunch next day or the bread will be soaked. Unless you like that. BBQ chicken cheesesteak, while very tasty, had alot less meat than expected. It's not cheap, at all, but I wouldn't come back for that. I can't complain too much as it was seasoned well and they didn't go overboard on the sauce. For over $20 they could have put more meat on it. Staff was friendly, was greeted a couple times. This place is super convenient off exit 2 on I-95 North, can't miss it. They have your normal cold drinks, chips and Tastycakes but no salads (that I saw) or other cold snacks. This spot is the absolute worst. We tried going here on August 18th, traveled literally out of the way to go to another state to try this place. This place was listed as "open" on Yelp. However, when we got there, to our dismay, it was closed, due to the owners leaving for vacation from August 17th to 24th. I have no problems with the vacation part. But as a business owner, you should at the VERY LEAST be accomodating to your customers and LIST WHEN YOU ARE CLOSED if you are going on vacation. Again, we traveled all the way just to see a paper sign saying "We're Closed", yet on Yelp, it was listed as Open. I will not be going here again, as it seems as if they don't even care about their customers to let the know that they're on vacation ON THE WEBSITE, wasting other people's time (we sat in the parking lot figuring out where to go next, and saw that a lot of cars came to DiCostanzas thinking that they were open as well). 1 star. read more

YOU MUST VISIT THIS PLACE!! Only bad thing about Diconstanza's is that they don't open on Sunday. But I guess they have to rest after serving all that deliciousness all week long. ME AND MY FAMILY GO OUT OUR WAY TO EAT HERE! There is always a bit of a wait on Saturdays but it is well worth the wait. if you are in a hurry just call ahead. I have been coming here since I was a kid. Every sandwich from this place is made with love..lol I have NEVER had a bad sandwich from here. i now have my friends addicted. Every time I'm in town I stop by and get a cheese steak and a hoagie. I always have to share it with someone because it is just too much to eat for one person.
