I took my brand new shoes there and when I picked them up, there were paint scuff marks on the tip of the left shoe. Literal leather chipping of my shoe hanging off of the shoe. The right shoe had a visible scuff mark. I took it back in and the guy told me to come back in an hour. He fixed the shoes that somebody obviously wore. Chambers back in the day up into the 90's was definitely the place to go for AWESOME shoe and bag maintenance/ repair. Also was and I guess still is a Giver to the community. But now..... Chambers is a big disappointment. 1 experience.... I took a pair of shoes in to be dyed (DYED). I had to leave a deposit of more than 50%. That was a flag. But I figured this is Chambers.... they will take care of me... no worries. I get my shoes back. They literally spray painted my shoes. I was done with that place. I gave the shoes to a homeless man. No2. The shine quality is no longer there. They take short cuts now with the shine. So now the shine as nice as it is.... it's not going to last like they used to. It's now a hurry up no quality service spot. 1 star rating is a bit much for this place. read more

I have been coming to Chambers shoe shine parlor shoe repair leather repair zipper repair for a very long time for at least since the 1990s about 20 years. Most of the time, the prices are reasonable. They do a great shoe shine and they do great resoling and they do great zipper repair and they can replace snaps in your leather jackets or purses or add snaps cuz I have them do that for me for briefcase and it was wonderful. Mr. Steve Randolph the proprietor, he is located at the Central Avenue location and I think one of his children is located at the Slauson location where they do all the sewing and adding snaps and things like that. It is a worthwhile place to refresh your Beautifully Broken in shoes. It is a wonderful place to get a good shoe shine. Chambers shoe shine parlors and shoe repair are an institution in the South Los Angeles area the Central Ave. location, and on the west side over there off Slauson right past Rimpau. When it comes to business, I honestly above most everything else. If you make a mistake, don't lie. Own up to it. I WAS a regular customer, so I am particularly appalled at the treatment I received today by the owner, Stephan Randolph, and his employee, Kamal. Last year in November, 2016, my boots were in excellent condition when I took them in for new heel caps and heel cover, as the backs of the heels were scuffed from the rollers on my office chair. Kamal even stated they were in "great condition", then asked me if I was sure I wanted to spend $35 on heel covering, plus $7 for the heel caps. We talked about it for a few minutes because he recognized they were made of vinyl, and the cost to repair the heels was "nearly the same as the purchase price", he said while pointing at the tag on my box, while holding my boots in his hands. I told him, yes, because they are my favorite boots, and I couldn't get this exact style anywhere anymore. I tried to leave my shoe box with him for storage. But he refused it, saying he didn't need it and just tossed my boots on top of a bunch of other customer's shoes already sitting on the counter. When I came back to pick them up. The owner, Stephan, claimed they didn't work on them because I had brought them in badly damaged. Since Kamal was off today, he called him on the phone when I protested Kamal proceeded to lie saying he noticed they were badly damaged right after I left. He stated he took pictures of them shortly after I dropped them off. I notice the timestamps on the pictures he offered were at 430pm. I dropped off my boots during my lunch break at 230pm. They had my mobile phone number on file and on my ticket. According to Stephen they don't work on shoes damaged this badly. So, then why was I allowed leave them for a whole week?? Why didn't anyone call me about "the damage" and let me know the couldn't work on them?? What sense does it make for me to bring in a badly damaged pair of boots to have ONLY the heels repaired for nearly the same cost to replace them?? But, Stephen AND Kamal kept blaming ME saying that I had brought them in damaged. Lies! The owner and his employees were incompetent, unapologetic liars! It's no wonder they have a new sign in the shop now which states, "Due to many customers refusing to pick up their property...you must pay for repairs up front, in full." Yeh, can't have people refusing to pay for their AFTER Stephen and his boys destroy them beyond all repair. All I wanted was for him to apologize. He wouldn't even do that for me. So, now I'm sharing my experience with all of you and everyone I know. read more

The first time I went to Chambers I asked them to stretch shoes for me. They came back not stretched. The next time I decided to give them a second chance. I went back to them because I had a pair of shoes that needed surgery. They were wearing from the inside in the back, they needed a heel wrap, and heel and toe taps. He said they'd do a piece of leather in the back of the shoe, they'd do a heel wrap, and the heel and toe taps...that they'd be ready on Wednesday. I informed him that I had to work through the week and that Saturday would be fine. Well, when I picked them up I noticed that the heel looked the same as when I took them in with the exception of a new piece on the bottom. I guess I should've been more specific when I said "heel wrapped" that I actually wanted the heel wrapped! I may go back to them for a touch up on shoes, but never will they put anything in a pair of shoes for me. Oh, and I almost forgot. They left the newspaper in the toes I guess when they were putting the toe taps on. I found it when I got home and went to try them on and couldn't put my foot inside. read more
