My building recommended Bowers and Son's and they pick up and deliver but I was sure that the Ralph's cleaners would be cheaper and I have to go shopping at least once a week but guess what? Bowers picks up and delivers to my building 2 times a day except on Saturday IIRC only once and they are CHEAPER than the cleaners in the Ralph's. read more

They ruined a completely perfect coat, some parasite of a human decided to purposely remove the buttons from my brand new coat. Then they returned pants that smell like mildew to me twice. Explaining it's the chemicals they use. Do not take valuable items to this place. Have been using them since 2013, called last week for a pick up at my building was told boss on vacation no pick up until next week Tuesday. oK today (Tuesday) called for pick up was told my building has no parking and sometimes nobody is at the desk. I took to blazers to get altered and the sleeves are horrible the buttons are crooked and there's holes left where the buttons used to be. The blazers were new. They charged me almost $100. 00 for two blazers and two slacks and I'm very disappointed. I got my items Thursday and noticed the horrible job Friday, which was the day of my event that I needed the blazer for. My husband and I moved downtown 6 months ago so we needed to find a new dry cleaner. I found Bowers & Sons on Yelp and gave it a try. I didn't review right away because I like to have several experiences to base my review on, especially with something like dry cleaning. I must say that I haven't been this happy with a dry cleaner since before I moved to LA 12 years ago! While they aren't the cheapest cleaners, they do an excellent job. They are very thorough and will re-do items if necessary without any hassle. Mrs. Bowers is very personable, remembers you and provides great customer service. I always drop off and pick up myself. One time I picked up my clothes and left behind a string from a lace up vest. I called the next day when I realized I didn't have it and they still had it there. I said I would come down and pick it up sometime but then Mrs. Bowers asked where we lived and she had her husband drop it off for me that day to save me the trip! Now, that's GREAT service!! I came here because I received a coupon from A Place Called Home's Cinderella Project, just down the street from this cleaners. In addition to wanting the dress I received from The Cinderella Project (Which is a WONDERFUL community aid!), I wanted to get it altered. It was a vintage dress, which in and of itself was a challenge to clean let alone alter, but they said it could be done. However, the female manager came to oversee the alteration lady's initial pin work to have the dress' loose chest material better fitted to my chest size. This female manager made crude remarks, stating that I need to "stuff my bra", and that I had "nothing there". I did not take this very well and told her so, but I really doubt the "formal business apology" was sincere. Additionally, she not once, but twice tried to justify why she so crudely and unprofessionally referred to my "shortcomings" in her eyes, in such a savage manner. I will attest that this business does well in regards to it's "old-fashioned values". I can say that after this experience, I do not recommend coming to this establishment. read more

Convenient or not I'm pretty disappointed. I took four pieces in to dry clean a few weeks ago. One was a suede jacket that needed some sweat stains removed. I pointed this out and they said they could take care of it. The other three things were blouses. One piece came back fine. Two returned looking still a little dirty, which I was not thrilled about. Also, you know how they punch in those little dry cleaning tags - they were punched right into the middle of silk where they left little holes. But really, the tour de force was the jacket. I was in a hurry when I picked up so I didn't see it until I got home. They had made it worse! MUCH worse! There was a hard raised ridge where the stains had been baked into the suede and the discoloration was terrible ! I have no idea how they managed to do that but a $500 jacket is now ruined. This was my go to cleaners because it was fair on price and the work was solid, but I've noticed a dramatic drop in service and quality over the last few months. They've had a staff shake-up that is for the worse. Clothes isn't ready on time, work isn't as good, prices are up, and instructions in to notes are often ignored. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHES HERE! I made the mistake of taking my Helmut Lang blazer which I only wore twice and they completely destroyed this jacket. The leather trim bled through the white fabric and made my white jacket into a grey jacket with black stains all over them. I complained to the owner, Vivian who is as shady as they come! She didn't take any responsibility for destroying the jacket and in fact she said it was the manufacturer's fault for using black leather trim on a white jacket. This is Helmut Lang! Not to mention this jacket was their number 1 seller and I personally know about 10 people who has the same jacket and they've dry cleaned it plenty of times with no damage. This dry cleaners just didn't know what they are doing. Then the owner claims she bought me a new jacket to make things right between us so I was so ecstatic and thrilled...although I had my doubts because this jacket was sold out everywhere when I checked. But she claimed she bought me a new one. The jacket was delivered in their dry cleaning garment bag and came with no tags to let me know where the jacket was purchased. at first glance it looks very similar, but the minute I tried on this jacket, I knew this is NOT a Helmut Lang jacket, it was a copy! On further inspection, the cut was different, the buttons were different, the size of the zipper was different, the fabric was different, everything about this jacket was different. when I asked her where she bought this jacket from, she refused to answer me and told me she doesn't need to tell me that. I mean if that isn't shady I just don't know what is. She then had the nerves to say that "all jackets fit differently!" Like who does she think she's fooling here? I have been in the fashion business for over 10 years and I know a fake copy when I see it. This place should be shut down. It really is not somewhere you want to take your clothes to. I fully intend to pursue legal action against them as I'm out of a $725 Helmut Lang Jacket and they refuse to reimburse me. Take your clothes anywhere but here. read more

The people who work here are friendly and courteous. My condo building in downtown has an arrangement with Bowers, where they provide pickup and delivery service for no extra cost. Drove there twice, got charged more than quoted, got charged for rush fee when not even told, and got a still dirty, unclean white blazer!! ============================================================== I was looking for a drycleaner I can go to all the time as I have alot of clothes. called in couple places around the neighborhood to check out the price. This place quoted a cheaper price & yelp rating was ok so decided to go here. However, after the garment was done, it wasn't clean! Had a wedding to attend, had to have it cleaned by the weekend, Drove there twice but they still couldn't get the spots out!!! Then they charged more than they quoted. Then they charged rush fee.(which i was not told) But the garment is still dirty. Their excuse was because they were rushing, they were unable to the spots out (when they cleaned it many times), They said if I give them couple more days, they can get it out. Then it's not rushed, why do they charge rush fee? Cannot believe they expect me to drive there again to cover up their mistake after pay so much! They were unwilling to give any refund. They did NOTHING to solve this situation. I don't know how they get all good reviews here. Not a good cleaner. read more

They were on time and the owner, Mrs. Bowers provided excellent service and was extremely friendly when I went there. The store is kinda in the projects but its worth it! They accidentally damaged my shirt, normally businesses that do this wont get a 5 star rating but the owner promised me that this never happened ( i had three and only one was negligibly damaged). So she gave me a refund for the cleaning and she seemed sincerely sorry. She seemed so sorry, she told me she was going to go to downtown just to buy me another shirt! Despite being overjoyed to find a delivery dry cleaner with fluff n fold in my neighborhood, I've had back to back negative experiences 3 times in a row with this business. The first time I took advantage of their pick up and delivery service, the driver was late. I was promised a certain timeframe and it was missed. Had to call to make sure he was even coming. He eventually arrived and picked up the bags. A few days later, the clothes were not returned on the day guaranteed. Vivian, the owner, swore up and down that she had definitely said the following day. When my fluff and fold and dry cleaning did finally show up, I was billed substantially more than I expected. Did a little digging and realized that despite my instructions to only dry clean the dress shirts, they had dry cleaned ALL of the button down shirts in the entire 4 loads of laundry, resulting in about 15 unnecessary dry cleanings. There's a big difference between a plaid cowboy shirt and a white button down dress shirt. Miscommunication? Perhaps. But this is a dry cleaner. And I'm not accustomed to paying $76.00 every time my clothes are dirty. They eventually offered me a discount which I accepted, but it was still late and left a bad taste in my mouth overall. I was assured this was out of character and wouldn't happen again. The next time I figured that I would go in person to insure there would be no slip ups. When my dry cleaning was ready a few days later, I came to pick it up and decided to check the shirts to make sure everything had been properly cleaned. Two of the shirts had been so poorly pressed that they had creases in very obvious places like the collar and placket. Took another couple of days for them to do it properly, and another trip to come get them. The final time, I scheduled a pick up for about 4 loads of laundry and 4 dress shirts. Driver didn't arrive all day. Called for an ETA and was told they couldn't reach the driver but that they would call sometime later. I couldn't wait around any longer so I left the bags for pick up with notes specifying what was for dry cleaning, and what was fluff and fold to eliminate any errors. I spoke with Vivian the owner again and she assured me that everything would be ready Wednesday evening. I checked my bank account today, to see what the total was (bowers charges whatever card is on file any amount without getting additional authorization each time) and found that the charge for 1 big bag of laundry and 4 shirts was $86.32. I suspect they may have pulled the same dry clean a bunch of stuff that doesn't need it move, but that remains to be seen. I called just before 6pm Wednesday (when I was told the clothes would be delivered) to find out when this magnificently priced delivery might be arriving. Lo and BEHOLD: Vivian again claimed that she had promised the clothes would be ready the FOLLOWING day. I firmly assured her this was not the case and that I needed the clothes at the appointed time, and not after. To which she replied that she could have them ready the next day and that today was not an option. Another discount was offered, along with assurances that this is out of character, but as a result I am still without clothing. I will not be giving Bowers & Sons any of my business moving forward. read more

BEWARE OF BOWERS CLEANERS I have been in the community for 15 years and heard about this cleaners. Their servi is okay. Today (Wednesday, March 21, 2018) I took one suit to be cleaned and asked for pick-up on Friday, March 23, 2018. I aas incirmed mybthe cointer staff, with the owner jn ear shot that it would be an additional charge for pick-up Friday. I was a tad bit confused as ti why there would be an additional charge for Friday. Then the worker stated you coild have it ready in Thursday. My frame of thought is okay, no additional charge. To my amazement it was considered to be a rush order and was charged the same amount as if I had requested Friday service. I was not told there would be a rush order charge. When I looked at m7y receipt, the cost to clean the suit was $14.50 and the rush order fee was $5.07. No where is there posted in their establishment these additinal fees. They have listed in their window same day service. GOD FORBID what those charges are. I understand everyone has to make a living, but unethical and deceptive practice is not the way to do it. read more

Didn't clean 2 of my items because they didn't want to "risk" damaging them, so they waited for me to come back days later to ask if I still wanted to go ahead with the dry cleaning but at my "own risk". I asked why wasn't I phoned about this issue (now two of the items I needed were not ready on time). Since I paid in advance with my debit card I asked to be refunded for those two things, I was told to come back monday since the manager was the only authorized to deal with the transaction. So I did and they had an envelope ready with cash(my refund) I ask why wasn't the money returned to my bank account, they simple responded "it's what the manager decided". I asked to talk to her not only because of the drama but because of the amount she was refunding was less than what it was supposed to be. She wasn't "in" that day, so I took my drug dealing envelope with cash and walked away before I snapped. I decided to let it go and write a review, hope it helps. read more
