I have started shopping here on a weekly basis as a young individual who has become hyper conscious of what I choose to put into my body. First of all, I love the variety of foods & diets that Chamomille caters to. They make it very easy to find most of what I am looking for. The produce section is BEAUTIFUL. Secondly, the cashiers are always very helpful & kind. The organic selection & customer service is what keeps me coming back. I will say though, that I have purchased a bad (soft/borderline moldy) batch of cherry tomatoes that I had to toss as well as twice I have purchased expired Bobo's items. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal to me, however when you are paying these prices for food you expect them to be good. It was a bummer having to toss them. Another thing that I find a little frustrating is the large amount of products with seed oils hidden in the ingredients (highly inflammatory & overall not healthy for you at all, but you can do your own research/determine that for yourself). Because of these two reasons, I feel obligated to give 4 stars instead of 5. It takes some of the convenience of feeling like I don't have to obsess over the ingredient labels out of my trips. Something else I would like to mention is that they have a relatively small pet selection. I know it is a small store (you would be impressed with how much they can fit in there however!), they have shelves for pet supplies but they are practically bare. Barry, if you are reading this I would really appreciate some organic & healthy dog food and treats! I would much rather support locally! read more

I always have a lovely time shopping here. I typically come in to restock my herbs. The self service is so useful and I appreciate their system. I also love picking up fresh local produce, the quality is so much better than anything at commercial stores. Although it can get a bit pricier, it only makes sense. I moved from CA to CT years ago, and was pleased to find this place, I was really skeptical coming from CA where we had all the best in health food and stores. Barry is a great guy, I like this mom and pop kinda place. Great products, Barry is very helpful, including when I had severe burns, and his recommendation worked. Typically, I like this store. The atmosphere, the products, and above all the employees are a breath of fresh air. However, a recent trip has made me ponder if I should continue shopping there. I overheard an older employee in the wellness department (Joe? Joseph? Is his name I heard) complaining passionately to a patron about the recent developments of the vaccine. About how it's, "going to kill us all" and that it's the "mark of the beast." This is EXTREMELY reckless and irresponsible behavior for somebody working in a health food store. I walked out without the Zinc I originally came in to purchase. If you shop here, I highly advise shopping on a day he isn't there. Or just avoiding him entirely. read more

A nice local market for natural foods, supplements and more. I used to live in Danbury before Whole Foods opened and Chamomille was the only natural market around town, to my knowledge. I've been back since and I will say they have a pretty good selection considering their relatively small size. Pros: Variety of products. They have a big selection of grocery items, supplements and other natural and herbal remedies. They also have many types of vegan products, including the often hard to find vegan whipped cream! They also have quick on-the-go meal solutions. Service is usually great as the staff is very helpful and pleasant. Cons: Many items are overpriced. I know that it's "normal" for local places like this to have higher, but it's a bit much on some items. Literally double the price of something at Stop & Shop or Trader Joe's and there you go most of the time. Even the sale/clearance section is not cheap. Compare to the pricey Whole Foods and Chamomille is still usually more expensive. Hours are kind of short. It does look like they have extended their weekday hours slightly since last year, but even on Saturdays...only 10-5:30? 10-3 on Sundays. At least they're open until 6:30 every weeknight, with a 7:30 extension on Thursdays. Now that Whole Foods has opened in Danbury, I don't see much reason to go to Chamomille. The only exception would be if you are close to there/exit 8 and don't want to make the 15-minute drive to Whole Foods. They also advertise a 5% discount for rewards members, but today I didn't get any discount, despite handing them my card...confusing... read more

Every town should have a store like this. Barry and his staff were very welcoming and have had the business for many years. They have everything from organic produce, to bulk items to a large selection of vitamins and home goods. Lots of nut free and gluten free options. It is important to be able to trust your grocer. I have been shopping at Chamomile for 20 years and I always feel confident that these folks do a great job putting honest food at decent prices on their shelves . They are knowledgeable and very helpful. The produce is ALL organic! I have chosen not to shop at the big chain "whole" food store except for the rare occasion that I buy meat and fish, that place is ridiculous. Fantastic Natural Foods store that has a great variety of items. Their selection of everything from clays to stevia to herbs and spices to teas and coffee are amazing. For years, I had been struggling to find different types of clays for detoxing. Guess what, this store has all of them. They have a back wall full of herbs and spices. Here's when I knew I found an amazing store -- their vanilla beans are top notch! Usually, I would see vanilla beans in grocery stores and notice that they are dry without that sparkle or glimmer of sugar crystals on them... and would have to resort to going to WIlliams-Sonoma for my beans. No more! This store carries a wonderful quality of vanilla. To top it off... they have 3 paid nutritionists on staff to answer any questions you may have. For a local store, I'm impressed! Came here yesterday and really liked the atmosphere. The employees were extremely helpful and they had a great selection of foods. The guy with the dreadlocks is super knowledgeable about what they offer, I asked him about them offering a certain brand and he knew exactly what I was talking about and that they had stopped carrying it. CAMOMILLE IN DANBURY IS AMAZING! I have been using homeopathic medications for years. In the past i have always shopped online or at whole foods and NEVER AGAIN! Barry the owner is practically a doctor. He gave sold me amazing products. The prices of everything I usually buy at other shops is way more than fair. I bought the large jar of topricin that is usually $32 for $26. Barry is very knowledgeable about health and how to use every product. I picked his brain and was very impressed at how well he knew about my situation and how to help. The cashier was BEYOND friendly. Very sweet woman. The store also sells fresh produce, eggs, bath products and snacks. It's way better than whole foods. Much cleaner! So organized, and SO many different products to chose from. I went in looking for milk thistle and of the 25 different ones to chose from Barry was able to suggest one that was perfect for my medical needs. What a great shop. They also do a rewards program! I frequent Chamomile often, as I find it is much cleaner than Whole Foods. That is to say, I am pretty familiar with all of the staff. You guys have a new cashier, who I went through the line of yesterday, and wow, what an excellent woman. She was so kind and she was really trying to the best of her ability. I love this place because they carry natural, organic products of all kinds. Their vitamin section is amazing and they always have the Nordic omega 3's my daughter takes. Wish they had a better selection of umcka. I left off a star because I bought a package of organic chicken hot dogs that I realized after eating 2 were 2 months expired. I didn't get sick but I just threw the rest out. I went back a week later and bought a new package, but noticed all the packages in front were expired also. The ones in the back of the fridge were not. When I brought this to my cashiers attention and told her I had purchased expired ones she went to talk to someone, came back and just said " yeah that's not good, thanks for telling us" I work in customer service and in my opinion I shouldn't have been charged for the package I did buy. Probably one of my favorite health shops around, especially in a town where there is little else. Yes, it can be a little pricey, but its local, convenient, and more than anything, Barry the owner is a wealth of information and give great recommendations and advice. He is also available for health sessions, so next time your thinking of going to your doctor, think again. Great supplements, packaged stuff, some raw cheese and milk, bulk section, even raw chocolate. :) Their produce section is fairly small, but perfect for grabbing an avocado or some celery on the run. read more

Really nice, old-school health food store but wow, is it ever pricey. I have been shopping organic for years and comparatively, they really are up there. This said, it doesn't stop me from shopping there as they have a decent assortment of everything I could ever need. A nice Organic food store. Much bigger on the inside than it looks. Prices are actually very reasonable for an organic food store, especially for being close to Danbury and NY. Parking lot is big enough where I do not see a problem, though it is just the size of a strip mall parking lot. Getting in and out of the store is a bit tricky since it is right off of a main road, but nowhere near as bad as other places. The staff was very friendly and answered questions I had based on what they carried. I would recommend taking a special trip to Chamomille if you live within 20 or 30 miles and I strongly recommend stopping in if you are a local. read more

I called in the am to get recommendations for raw cocount oil. The young man was very helpful. When i arrived, the other man was not very sensitive (appeared to be the owner) and claimed he was a "nutritionist" and the "most knowledgeable" and rec something else. He made me very uncomfortable when i had to share i was not looking to eat the oil but use it more my scalp given chemo. He should have been more discreet and sensitive in front of costumers. And i am a Regsitered Dietitian (RD) with BS Dietetics and 2 masters and shared with him this was not my exeperience. I did some research on the internet in the store and bought the original product. As i was leaving the lady at the counter asked "if i needed a hug". Nice lady. Way to go CNF for making a cancer person uncomfortable and not admitting when you do not have knowledge in this area. From an RD - atl least be sensitive and learn and say "hey give me call and let me know how it works for you". I will not be returning nor recommending as a patient and a specialist in Nutrition. read more

Their prices on organic foods are cheaper than the regular grocery stores and their supplements are the same if not cheaper than if you were to order them online. They have the highest quality supplements out there and the staff is more than helpful. They take the time to listen to you and genuinely help you look for which supplement would be best for you're needs. I have been frequenting this establishment for 30yrs. and have been taking the knowledge that Barry has acquired over the years and applying it to my many different needs. Each time I enter the store I'm greeted and asked if I ever need help. I always need help and I always get the help I need; today was no exception. I spoke to Daniel today who was knowledgeable and sympathetic to my needs; he was extremely helpful. The products offered are always high in quality and wide in variety. Great local health food store. Barry is a very knowledgeable nutritionist and will help you find supplements, etc. The store stocks a lot of items that you can't find elsewhere. I especially love their selection of gluten-free and raw vegan items. If you need a quick lunch, try their pre-made sandwiches -gluten-free, regular or vegetarian. Delicious! Furthermore, if you'd like them to stock an item they don't currently have, just ask! They'll get it!!!! Go ahead and try that at stop n shop! read more

Some items are priced competitively (bulk goods like nutritional yeast or spices), others are jacked through the roof. I also know that they purchase some of their snack products from cheaper establishments (Home Goods, Marshalls, etc.) and then sell them for approximately $1 more. I've actually witnessed this first-hand, as a bag of chips I purchased recently still had a Marshalls tag attached. The store feels dirty, but actually isn't. But beware of expired foods and rotten produce. The produce that is still fresh is quite good. The avocados are especially delicious, which is more than I can say for other stores' avocados this season. There are two owners - one of whom is friendly, helpful, and personable; the other is off-putting and comes off as slightly maniacal. The deli offerings used to be quite tasty when their staff from last year was making them, but now they are often mushy and flavorless. However, as I said before, their bulk items are very reasonably priced, and there is a great selection. And the natural skincare/cosmetics selection keeps growing and the prices in that department are fantastic too. I'm talking an average of $5 below Whole Foods' prices. Their rewards card is good too, so if you're planning to shop there often, sign up. For every 100 points (I'm not sure what that amounts to in dollars, but it's not bad), you get $10 a purchase. Pretty cool, since even Stop and Shop doesn't offer that kind of a reward with their card. Over all, I'd say this is a good natural food store, but not without some serious negative points. Provided they can keep the expiration dates of their products in check, they lower their prices a little, and the co-owner can maybe not stand so close to the customers when talking, I'd say it has the potential to really rival the big-box stores in the area. read more

I find what I need... Sometimes. Often covered with dust. :( The prices are not the same as other stores... They are higher. Dot understands what everyone else is purchasing here but it's not true with the things I pick up. There's a poor pet section/none? And most importantly/depressingly, the people are NOT always nice. I am a psycho health food nut, so picky with what I eat, and a biologist. I go in here and though I rarely need assistance, when I go to check out an older individual checks me out and is never pleasant. The lady that helps sometimes never stands or moves from her chair and is so forlorn and kinda negative that it makes me not want to come back. The older man who I think is the owner has acted annoyed/like I'm wasting his time?!?! It's very strange?!? All the young boys that have Checked me out are nicer... Then again I am 25 year old put together young woman?!?! Not impressed. :( read more
