This is my favorite Korean restaurant in danbury in terms of Korean cuisine. Poke, and sushi not so much. I usually get the bulgogi rice bowl. It's a tall price of $23 after taxes but the huge portion compensates quite well. Some people say that the owners are grouchy and rude but I've never had that issue. The wife is especially sweet. It's a quiet restaurant hidden in a smaller plaza on padanaram rd. I usually get to go but it's a good place to eat alone. read more

My 1st time at Maroo for a later lunch on a Monday. The location is an odd spot (behind other businesses) with a slanted parking lot. But the food is Excellent. My beef dumplings were obviously homemade and excellent. I really liked how the food and sides were separate on the plate so You had the option to mix. If you love kimchi or all thing spicy you need to try the kimchi jigae! Literally the best in the area. Appetizers are always wonderful and the staff are friendly. Just know all food is made to order so be prepared to have conversation with your fellow table mates. We love going here and enjoying the dim lit atmosphere and fresh food. I'm surprised they're still in business with this attitude on top of how mediocre the food is. We ordered a poke bowl, a sushi set, bulgogi and japchae. Poke had spicy tuna in it that was SO spicy that I barely was able to finish 1/5 of it and had to polish it with milk and spoonfuls of sour cream. BTW that tuna was aggressively red in color (think flamin hot cheetos red). Japchae was probably the worst I have ever had - bland noodles with barely any veggies in it. Sushi and bulgogi were fine but nothing to write home about. Regardless of the food quality I would never go to this place again considering how nonchalantly rude the service was. read more

The restaurant interior is a sharp contrast to the outside ...in a good way. It's clean, open with Korean music playing. I ordered sushi and the portions were generous and delicious. Maroo Sushi and Poke is a quaint place that I went to during a lunch break. It features superb authentic Korean-style cuisine, freshly prepared banchan that rotate daily, and excellent specials. While I think the price is a little high, the food quality is very high. I'm surprised that there were not more people eating there at lunch, because the banchan quality is so homemade and authentic that I fell in love with it. I plan to go try more - the service is truly professional too. I found the owners to be pleasant people and characters. I plan to get some more food very soon. read more

Wow wow wow. The food was amazing and so well presented. I love sushi. So it was great to find this so near Burlington Coat factory stashed back behind some buildings. Friendly staff. I love this place~the Korean food is superb and the owners are very kind. The fish is super fresh (had salmon sashimi), and the side of kimchi that came with my soon dubu was so good I had to order a side to go. You can tell that the owners really care about the quality of their food. Oh-and I missed the drinks you can grab when you walk in. They do provide hot tea when you sit down. The place itself is really clean and has a calm vibe. Even my spoon came with its own little spoon bonnet ::sigh:: Regarding the service; if you need something just ask; they are not going to be constantly coming to your table to check up on you; just relax and enjoy the food. The food was fresh and we loved everything we had...tasty Pork dumplings (sort of flat and fried), seaweed salad, their green salad was amazing / so perfectly dressed with a light ginger, sesame dressing, a salmon poke bowl, a bunch of sushi and jap chae (sweet potato noodles stir fried lightly with a little veg.). The portions were really good for the price! I got the tofu stew and shared a tempura shrimp roll with a friend. Place was clean and had nice vibes. The tofu stew had side dishes come with it (omelette, kimchi, zucchini) as well as rice. It has so much vegetables in the stew as well as tofu. The seafood taste isn't too strong, but it's definitely there. I loved how hot and the subtle spiciness as well. The sushi was bigger than I expected. Really good though. Came here for lunch. Had the tofu ramen and my mother had the chicken ramen soup. We also ordered pork dumplings along with the shrimp tempura and spicy tuna roll. The food was all very good. The restaurant is clean and quiet. I appreciate the relaxing music played during our visit. The owner was very nice. I wish they had sake, but I couldn't really say I missed it during our meal. I like to leave a cash tip and when he was I did not put a tip on the card he said I have to leave one and before I could say I was leaving cash he said very meanly that I could not bring in outside food (I had brough in a 4 piece from mcdonalds for my 6 year old to eat) we ordered about $100 of sushi and ramen for the rest of us. A small child eating something else should not be an issue. If he would have said it nicely I would have said no problem. My friend and I stopped in during a long drive home where we were unexpectedly served some of the best food we've had in a long time. Her bibimbap came out sizzling in a cast iron pot and had sauce drizzled on in front of her while I got a gorgeous sushi display. I have eaten here several times, where I would dine in and when I was ready, I would go home. Today I treated in and ate Poke and decided to take my sushi. The manager got angry that I wanted to pack the rest of my food and leave. After eating my Poke, I suddenly felt exhausted since I had been teaching all day since 7:45 am. When another customer walked in for a take-out order that was not my race, I noticed how the manager elevated his voice, insulted me, and asked for additional money besides the cost of the Coke soda. He also charged me for an 8oz bottle of Coke, $4.00. In addition, he offered to pack my sushi rolls because he refused to give me the container so I could load the sushi rolls. Although I paid for two sushi rolls, Poke, and Coke soda, he only gave me half of each roll and, when asked, refused to answer me. I will never EAT IN THIS restaurant again. I walked in, paid for my food, sat quietly eating, decided I was tired, and wanted to go home. As a result of my decision, I suffered insults from the restaurant's manager. This is a great family run place. They have a nice combination of delicious Korean entrees, poke, and sushi. Their selection of sushi from a variety standpoint does not seem as extensive as other places but the portions freshness and quality were all top notch. The owner although busy was attentive and liked interacting with us and providing insight into what he had prepared. We had Mandooguk a dumpling soup that was really flavorful, and the broth was great. We also had the sashimi special which had ample variety and cuts of tuna and salmon. We were confused with their system but still stayed and enjoy our lunch but the guy or the Chef that it's in the sushi area is soooooo rude!! He is not welcoming at all. We thought the garbage near us is for regular garbage and no sign or only for cans or bottles and he immediately got mad on us correcting us and educating us about how the policy works and such.
