He arrived, but then it went downhill from there. I can't say I valued the 5 minutes he spent in my home. He was supposed to diagnose my washing machine, but the very brief 5 minutes he spent starting the wash, declaring it needed to be replaced entirely, and leaving, he didn't properly diagnose the problem. In the writeup from the company charging $125 for that 5 minute "diagnosis", they declared it was "bad bearings" and said it wasn't worth fixing. I had another, far more reputable repair company come in to properly diagnose and repair. The Champion tech didn't even open the machine up. It was NOT bad bearings. Is this a scam company that tries to shove as many $125 service calls in an hour they can? I don't know. At $125 per 5 minutes, their time would be $1500 per hour. I should've read the reviews before contacting them for a service appointment. I reached out and told them that our dryer does not heat anymore. The tech arrived and was here less than 10 minutes and stated we needed a new heating element and possibly rotors. It would could over $500. We declined and he charged us $109 for "trip fee". That's is so expensive. I was never told of a trip fee when scheduling the appointment. I am disappointed. I hope this helps other people before contacting them. When I called to see what it would cost to replace venting for dryer the women who answered the phone was quick to say they cannot give an estimate without seeing it first. She did not mention a trip charge of $109.00 plus tax until I called back the morning of my appointment and asked. I would think they could say it would most likely be between $300.00/$600.00. if that would have been the case I would not have asked them to come out and it would have saved me $115.00. I mentioned the distance was about 8 feet from dryer to outside. You would think they could have given me a close estimate but then they would be out the $115.00. My quote came in at $661.00 plus the trip charge for duct replacement, outside vent cover and cleaning the dryer. That to me seems really extreme. I will not be using them again. I will say however that Jeff was pleasant at the appointment. I went and bought the parts and will have my brother do the work. The supplies were under $40.00. Maybe not the highest quality outside vent but will work just fine. read more

My home warrantee company put in a work order through Champion Appliance Care. After some back and forth (and disparaging the company the warrantee was through). On my second call, I spoke with the owner, Jeff. When going over the work order, Jeff asked about which building I lived in, and after I told him, he said that he would only complete part of the work order. He insulted both the construction and the management of my building. When I mentioned a lack of interest in paying two separate warrantee deductibles because they would not agree to send someone out for the entire work order, he briefly considered it. He started to ask me questions about the dryer that I wanted to have looked at with condescending questions like, "Does it heat up? Does it spin?" They are contracted to work with my company, not to pick and choose whatever work suited them and then refer me on to someone else. I felt irritated but did not raise my voice or use any crude language. The owner, Jeff, then hung up on me. read more

Yelp also helps steer potential customers with an unbiased review of what they have experienced. Your response to my review definitely shows you are proud of your business, and that's great, although you still didn't offer any help. -what do you service? -how much is a minimum service call? - how long does it take for a repairman to arrive? - what's your service area? To help your staff and customer satisfaction in the future, when a phone call comes in, why not tell people what you 'can' do instead of what you 'can't' do? A good response to my original phone inquiry could have been: "It sounds like something we will need to set up a service call to diagnose. We do service SubZero appliances and a service call would be a minimum of $x amount. Once diagnosed, we may need to set up a second appointment and a part cost maybe involved, which our skilled repairman would be able to explain. Our soonest availability is 'x' date. I called Champion in the morning for a problem with my Sub-Zero refrigerator and they sent somebody to look at it in the afternoon. The problem was diagnosed correctly within a couple of minutes and although they had to order the part, they put a temporary solution in place right away. They returned the following day with the correct part and the problem was fixed. I will use them again in the future! read more
