Our dryer had just about stopped working. It was taking several cycles to get things mostly dry, and even then they weren't as dry as they should be. I called Adams Appliance Repair and left a message. Jerry called back that morning and on the phone he had me troubleshoot the problem. After a few minutes of doing that he said the problem was likely a clogged vent and he asked me to go outside to check. He said if that was the cause of the problem I should just clear the vent and he wouldn't need to come out - but I should let him know if that didn't work and he would come out to check. I hung up and went outside, and saw that the vent was indeed clogged. I cleared it as best as I could and we put in another load in the washer and then in the dryer and it worked again as it should! Jerry represents the sort of professional whose skill and ethics are exactly what you would want -and so rarely get these days. Our 6-year old washing machine was leaking a quart of water on the floor with every cycle. We called Jerry Friday morning and he arrived before lunchtime! This guy is impressive. We had washer issues at a business. Our regular guy was one week out so we needed to call around. In calling several places some did not answer. It may have been by happenstance BUT he answered within a few rings. He was at our business the same day, within hours!! I actually chose him as one of the options because of the positive reviews and in this case they rang true. He found the problem. Unfortunately it was a fluke of a problem and we needed to get a new washer. The good thing is that we did not have to wait one week AND THEN buy a new washer. Do not use Adam's Appliance. They came out a month ago to fix our washer. Well here we thought we were waiting on them to get the part in because that is what they told us. So they came out today and the guy says he doesn't know what to fix because he doesn't know what is wrong with it. So we waited a month for a part that we know for a fact they ordered to turn around and tell us they don't know what is wrong with it. My husband called the warranty company and it showed that Adams Appliance ordered parts. So the warranty place tried calling them to see what was going on and all it does is ring and ring. They won't answer the phone. The guy that was here left and said he would be back. Well we have been sitting here now for about 2 hours. Jerry fixed our washing machine last week and was great. He diagnosed the issue over the phone, ordered the part, and came to install/fix the issue once it came in. In addition, todayI texted him about an issue with our oven (smelling like gas more than normal) and he instructed me to call MG&E first, before he came out for a visit, then helped me troubleshoot over text, ultimately solving our issue -- PSA: If you're painting or staining in the house, your gas appliances will smell more gas-y or like kerosene until the fumes are burned off (who knew? I left a message at the beginning of the weekend for a problem I had with my freezer. I knew that Adams was not open on the weekend but wanted to get in the queue for Monday. My biggest pet peeve is a lot of repair places act like you are doing them a favor by giving them business. In the middle of cooking dinner for my wife's book club, the oven in my GE Profile range crapped out. I quickly diagnosed the problem (a faulty oven igniter, a common predicament for this model), moved my roasted cauliflower to the grill and started calling around to find someone to get my oven back on line. When I called old stand-by Direct Home Appliance Repair, a customer service rep from Diamond Factory Service answered. They did not have the part I needed in stock, so the best they could do was promise a visit four days in the future - ahhhh, thanks, but no thanks. I then left a message for AppliancePros, who lived up to their 1-star reputation on Yelp by calling by back a day and a half later. While I also reached voice mail when I called Adams Appliance Repair, but then owner Jerry Adams promptly returned my call. We discussed my diagnosis (he mentioned he had made this repair numerous times) and we set up a service call at a mutually convenient time the following day. On the day of the service call, Jerry called thirty minutes prior to the scheduled time letting me know that he was on his way - so far, so good. Jerry arrived right on time and went right to work, fixing the problem in forty minutes. He tested his work, explained the replacement part would create an off odor for the first hour in use and that was it. The price was exactly what he quoted on the phone. Our water dispenser stopped working in our GE refrigerator. It was plugged and the pressure split a bladder in the back of the refrigerator. I explained the problem to Jerry over the phone, texted him a picture of the serial number and the bladder. He ordered the part and a few days later stopped by for installation.
