Another 5-stars for Champion! Took my car in after the battery died and, after jumping it to drive down, it started blinking all kinds of warning lights. I was pretty stressed by the time I pulled in, but they came out immediately to greet me and take my problem child car off my hands (still running so it wouldn't die again) and sent me into the office where the nice woman inside (apologies I don't remember her name) remembered why I was there from when I called, told me they'd take care of it today, and that was it. So easy! And sure enough, later that day my battery was replaced for a super reasonable price - and they checked all the other blinking warning lights (brakes, check engine, alternator) and said everything looked good. This made me feel even better about Champion and their integrity that they did not take advantage and charge me extra for work I didn't need. Thank you Champion for a great experience! read more

I've been a loyal customer for years, my Jeep, 4Runner and Silverado 2500. I brought the 2500 in because the A/C was not working. The first day he changed the censors, belt and charged the system, he said it was only half filled. He ask for $500.00 and I paid him cash, the only hitch was it still did not work. After looking around a bit he asked me to join him under the truck upon which he showed me the damage the broken belt had mad and told me I needed a new compressor and the cable. I said ok and came back after the weekend. In order to anticipate the amount of cash needed for the remainder of the job, I looked up the price of the A/C compressor on line. There were many with an average price of $150.00, when the truck was ready they asked for another $700.00, $325.00 for the $150.00 compressor. I showed the Gentleman the prices on line and he said, "Oh, we add 30% on to all the parts". $175.00 on top of the $150.00 true price is 116.666 % extra. I take all of my vehicles to this location. The receptionist always has the best customer service. Always very kind and helpful even when the shop is busy. They always try to get you in as soon as possible. The prices are very fair and the guys do a great job so I always trust them. The shop is in a tight space for so many cars, but they've never returned a car to me with any damage what so ever. Was quoted $450 for labor and alignment at another shop but it was in Irvine so I decided to try the local business out when I called and they said $450. I got there and said I had the parts that when they take off the old to just put new ones on. Well that added another $160 for doing no extra work. After 6 hrs they took my car off the lift and we noticed the rear was really low. I was told the alignment would fix that up. Well when I went to the alignment shop I was told that because my coil overs are adjustable then when they are installed the installer must adjust the height to get it where you want it then they can do the alignment. So I called on Monday morning and said how the mechanic never adjusted the height I was told I should've said something then when I picked up the car. I didn't say anything so they thought it wouldn't be an issue. FIRST, You should not install adjustable parts if you are not going to adjust it when you you install to insure the parts are installed correctly. SECOND, don't charge a customer for changing control arms when you remove them anyways to get the shocks out. read more

They're honest, won't rip you off, no price gouging, and I've never had any issues with the quality of their work. My husband and I feel so lucky we came across this gem of an auto shop since we are newbies here in Riverside. I've taken our Odyssey here two times for an oil change. The first time we had just bought our used van and I asked them to check it over to see if they saw anything wrong. I was sure they would find something so I would have to pay to get it "repaired". Nope-I was wrong!! They said all looked well. The wife of the owner was nice. She seemed genuine, something I have never found at an auto shop! The price of the oil change wasn't expensive at all. They did not try to up-sell or anything. Our breaks need to be checked because they started squeaking and my other half wanted to take it to a place near by but I told him nope! I consider myself a really good DIYer (fixed everything possible in a car, from electrical gremlins to engine overhauls), so I hold repair shops to a very high standard. In this case, my daughter's car was acting up (she goes to UCR), with the car going to limp mode due to error codes from the car. Well, I wasn't able to help her since I'm in the Bay Area and so I decided to go with the most reputable Yelp review near my daughter's house. I've read the reviews for Champion and decided to try them. I spoke with Daniel, sent him an email with my extensive diagnosis and concerns, and he listened to me sincerely. He spent a good amount of time trying to isolate the issue (and from what I can tell you from my independent research, the problem is not clear-cut), and doing some component swapping, he believes (and I agree) that removing some critical computer modules and connectors and re-placing them may have solved the issue (this is what happens with you add complexity to any system, more potential parts can break for the simplest reasons). An extensive post-diagnosis has not resulted in any more fault codes. Here's where I think this shop (Daniel) was exceptional as opposed to other shops that I've dealt with in the past: 1) Daniel refused to shotgun the issue. In other words, because of the vague nature of the problem, he did not suggest that we replace parts until the problem goes away (like most shops will force you to do). 2) He spent a good amount of time troubleshooting the problem but only charged me his base diagnostic fee. 3) He stayed on task. He could have pointed out other issues with the car but he focused on the main issue and nothing else. 4) His communication was direct and to the point. Here's the bottom line: if you're looking for a mechanic that will give you the most honest, ethical answer when it comes to your vehicle, then Daniel (and Champion) is your guy (shop). I am normally cautious about who I deal with professionally, but now I know my daughter will be in good hands with Daniel and Champion. Thanks guys... I sincerely mean it. =) read more

I went in on Monday and am now just having time to write this review! First off my car transmission light was on and my D was blinking while driving. Totally not good. I went to another who shall not be named on Sunday (only place open at the time) and I asked to see what the issue was. Basically my transmission sensor wasn't working correctly, something like that. He told me to come back tomorrow to get a quote on the part. So I called him and he quoted me almost $500, for the part, a transmission oil change, and labor. I almost died, so I decided to call around first. I yelped, and called Champion Auto Service (based on reviews) and Daniel immediately answered, I told him what my issues were. He told me off the bat that he couldn't give me a direct quote for the part unless he saw the car, but the transmission oil changed was already half the cost I was originally quoted. So I decided to bring my car in. The waiting area is air conditioned, spacious and has lots of sitting area. His wife was manning the front and she is so friendly! He checked out my car, gave me a quote for everything and the cost was seriously half of what the other place was trying to charge me!! Needless to say, I didn't mind waiting a couple hours in the waiting area chatting with his wife while my car was being worked on. My car runs great now and I'm seriously coming back. read more

I had just purchased a truck at an auction and needed to have it checked out and give me a base to start at. I found this establishment on Yelp while looking for a place to get my oil changed. I walked in unannounced and was greeted by Cynthia. She told me she would check to see how long it would be and she came right back and told me 45 minutes. So, while I was waiting, Cynthia offered me a ride home on the next visit if I had to leave the car. That is a customer service option you don't find these days. The car was done in a timely manner and I even got $5 off for checking in on Yelp. There was a minor delay in waiting for the part from their supplier. Not Champion's fault, though. This business is customer service focused and while I only got an oil change done there, I left with a feeling of them being honest and forthcoming, which is rare in this kind of business. This was my first time taking my car to there business, Thanks to the Yelp reviews, I am so glad I found this place. Danny, at the front desk and his wife are great. He took care of getting the paperwork completed right away, understood everything I needed, did not try to sell me other services like lot of other places. I asked for a ride to a local business and his wife dropped me off. When my car was ready, I asked for a ride back and Danny picked me up in my car to test drive it. Worked out perfectly. Called around to find prices for a "starter" for my Hyundai Sonata, and this was the cheapest place, as well as the best rated. They started working on my car as soon as I got there, even though they were busy. The lady at the front was so friendly and we talked about her kids, dieting, etc. The mechanics are also very friendly and helpful (obviously). They told me it would be quite a few hours but it ended up only being two, which flew by because of small talk with the lady at the front. Tire rotation only cost me $10 and they did the usual check of the car (oil, fluids, etc). Will definitely be back soon for normal maintenance! read more

I've been going to Daniel for a couple years now. I had a hard time finding a mechanics like everyone does because I don't trust mechanics. However, Daniel is great. The dealer told me I needed about 3500 dollars worth of damages and when I took it to Daniel he was very straight forward in what needed to be done, what could wait but eventually needed to be done, and what didn't need to be fixed at all.
