I had asked Daniel to check for a slow oil leak in my car when he changed the oil and give me a repair estimate. It has leaked for about 10 years so I was prepared for the worst since it is hard to locate a miniscule oil leak. He told me the oil filter was loose so he tightened it, degreased the oily area, cleaned the undercarriage and said to monitor the leak. After all these years I was finally able to trash the big pieces of cardboard on my garage floor. I guess no one ever properly tightened the oil filter before. Thanks Daniel. read more

I have returned to Champion over the last 12 months having them service 2 additional vehicles ( 1999 pathfinder &2014 CRV ) .I continue to be pleased with the service and prices that they have provided along with what another Yelp poster stated in describing Daniel as a really honest "down to earth guy". After reading all the reviews, I brought my vehicle in to have it looked at. It had an oil leak and had overheated once. I asked about repairing the leaks, mentioned the overheating, and asked about getting a tune up. I left the truck for nearly a full day for them to examine it. When I returned, I got a quote for fixing the oil leaks, but there were other things added on to the quote that weren't needed and that I hadn't asked for. A radiator, thermostat replacement, and radiator hose were added to the quote; as well as spark plug wires. I was told there was nothing wrong with the radiator and thermostat, but if I wanted to replace it, the estimate was there. Why would it be added to the quote, if it was not needed? And, although there was no evidence that there was anything wrong with the spark plug wires, when I asked about it I was told that it would be "preventative maintenance." Although this made me a little suspicious, in light of all the positive Yelp reviews, I went ahead with the repairs that were needed. I left the vehicle for two days to be fixed. I was never called when the truck was done. I had to call in to find out that it was finished. And when I went to pick it up, I was told that more work was needed. I was told that there was a problem with some of the front steering components being worn, and that I would hear a "clicking" noise from the front as a result. I was shown the problem, and told that it would definitely affect my alignment. Almost $500 to repair. My front tires have been wearing even (evidence that my alignment and front end components have been fine), and I never had a problem with a front end "clicking" noise until I drove away from the shop. The vehicle was taken on a lengthy test drive by the mechanic when I brought it in the first time. After the initial test drive, and leaving the truck for an estimate, there was no mention of any problems with the front end. I suppose it's possible that the noise was there before and I just didn't notice it, but it seems like the front end problem mysteriously developed, or was exacerbated, while I left the truck to be repaired. I wish I could give a good rating, but I am suspicious of this shop for adding extra items on my quote that were not needed and not calling me when the truck was done. Furthermore, if there was a problem with the front end of my vehicle, I feel it should have been found and reported to me on the first estimate. I will not use this shop again. read more

I went to this place because of Yelp reviews. I have an embarrassingly crappy old van and it had a badly leaking radiator and was overheating terribly, I thought my van was ready for the junkyard. To my suprise, Champion got me back on the road fast and inexpensively. It needed a new radiator and heater core, but they could tell i was broke and that the van wasnt worth much, so they told me they could bypass the heater core, perfect! WHAT REALLY IMPRESSED ME though, was that they fixed my door! It wouldnt open and I was having to go in and out through the passenger door. They fixed it for FREE. How many places would do that for someone they don't even know? read more

We took our family car here for a brake inspection and a noise we thought to be coming from the brakes. Daniel came back and told us we did not need brakes for now. Even after reading all the rave Yelp reviews, I was still surprised at the awesome service I received at Champion Auto Service. My car wouldn't start... not a problem with the battery, but possibly a bad starter. I took it in for diagnosis; Daniel had to keep it for a couple of days. It would have been easy for him to put in a new starter and charge me $$$. But instead, he determined that the starter was good and that it was a minor, fixable problem with the key. My 2010 Honda Civic Cpe had been making a loud noise for a while so after looking for a place on Yelp I called up this place. Left a message which took them a couple days to get back to me. Daniel apologized and we made an appointment. He diagnosed the problem (motor mount) after turning the engine on for literally under 10 seconds. I was confident because I had already had another place do a visual inspection which arrived at the same diagnosis. That's how well Daniel knows Hondas. He also has connections for parts so he could get one delivered right away. He was confident, incisive, and polite at the same time. It was estimated to take about 2 hours because they were working on other cars, which ended up being accurate. Daniel checked my filters too and took the trouble to bring the broken motor mount to show me what was wrong, without me asking. Didn't try selling extra services. His wife Cynthia offered to drive me to Tyler mall but I declined. Ended up having a good conversation with her - she's friendly but not nosy. They seemed to work really well together! This was a week ago and my car has been working well - no problems. I did call them yesterday just to clarify whether they had to access anything through my glovebox because it looked like things had been shuffled a bit. Daniel explained and apologized. The car was done on time the next day. When I went to pay, I asked his wife twice if the price was correct because it was 40% lower than he quoted. I looked at the invoice to make sure all work was done when Daniel stuck head in from the shop to tell me he combines the labor chargers and that's why the total was different. Unbelievable honesty. I was having a problem with my Nissan Titan and I spoke with Christian regarding the problem over the problem. I dropped off my truck in the morning and he called me a couple of hours later. He figured out what the problem was, gave me a quote and it ended up being cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I gave him the okay to fix it and got my truck back to me in a timely manner.
