Visiting today I noticed some quality local grass-fed milk in plesent conversation the owner tells me can't keep it on the shelves people like it so much and basically it sells out just about as fast as it comes in LOL Awesome, I know what I'm using next time I make organic mac and cheese! read more

Love this hidden gem next to the DOL in Issaquah on Gilman. We've been coming to this place since their old location near Tibbits Park. First off all the owners are Jim & his mom & they are some off nicest hardest working people I know. The atmosphere is always clean & organized & if you can't find something they're there to show you where it is or let you know when it'll be in- talk about customer service! Their selection is somewhat consistent but then some items vary. I get all of my spices there- great prices! I also get beans, rice, soup, olives, chips, cleaning products & candies all at great prices as well. Definitely a great place to shop! read more

Well I came here to leave a rave review and see that everyone else has already done so! And with good reason - when's the last time people wrote rave reviews about a grocery store? But that's how awesome this little place and the super friendly people who run it are. I always come here the day after they restock and they always have such a great variety of brand name, organic staples, snacks and baby products. And always at such cheap prices. Some of favorites are toddler snack pouches, chips, chocolate bars, coffee drinks, almond/corn/oat flour and spices (omg the spices here are fresh, cheap and plentiful). Their stock changes quite often so it's definitely like a treasure hunt - I've found amazing reusable diapers, brand name shampoos, essential oils and environmentally friendly bags/coffee filters, among other things. I also love that they have tiny shopping carts. This is the only store my toddler is entertained in long enough for me to actually get everything on my list. She just loves the mini shopping carts and the owners here have done such a great job (intentional or not) of placing baby friendly items (lightweight, no glass) at toddler heights. Literally cracks me up watching my toddler shop there, and the owners are always so nice and friendly to her. My cousin told me about this place and I'm now a fan! It's a small shop tucked in a strip mall near Rite Aid and they carry an assortment of grocery items. You never know what you'll find here, as every visit yields something new and different. Prices are amazingly cheap, there's tons of organic items, and a solid spice selection. They stock my favorite items, at low prices, including large bags of lentils, beans, rice, peas, flour, nuts, oats, and spices, many with organic options. Tons of gluten free, and dairy free options, including the Bitchin' Sauce brand (nice surprise). This place is always fun to go to and buy some random high end shelf stable items for a bargain price. Today I found a bottle of buffalo sauce that is made in Issaquah and usually can only be found in Made in WA stores, and some Red Tail Ale BBQ sauce (my favorite). The owners are always so kind to my kids. My baby expressed interest in a bag of "choctwit" chips and they cut it open and poured out a little bag for her to try. Once I came in and one of my kid's noses was running and the lady matter of factly grabbed a Kleenex and wiped her nose for me when I was checking out. Cracked me up. They treat them like they're their grandparents! So unexpected and just what this area needs--genuine friendliness. read more

I definitely love Champion! They don't have everything, but they have phenomenal prices on what they do have. This place is amazing if you love to bake! They have ALL the flours and sugars you could ever ask for and they sell them for really great prices. Really great selection of rice, good selection of spices. Champion is also really great for snacks. As of writing this they keep temping me with ridiculously cheap Kettle chips. Locally produced honey is often in stock at prices you just won't find anywhere else. Sooo good! The owners are sweet as pie and more than happy to help if you need anything. Fantastic place to visit. Don't really know how to describe it. It's like one of those international oddball dry goods/grocery stores, except it's not international, more like vegan store. They don't sell meats, fruits or veggies, but they sell nuts, flours, grains, etc. The stuff there changes all the time, it's whatever they can buy. They probably buy stuff pennies on the dollar, that's why their prices are so good. I go their mainly for potato chips (50cents a bag vs. $3.00), chocolates, international cookies, snacks, teas. A very small amount of the stuff is expired but most isn't. I just check the expiration date of everything I buy, which is what I do anyway, any store I go to. They also sell cleaning supplies, toothpaste, supplements, etc. And like the others say, the owners are really nice people. They're only open 4 days a week. read more

I recently switched to a gluten free diet, and needed a lot of weird ingredients to make GF bread myself. Turns out this place is a haven for the gluten intolerant. I arrived the 1st time with a long list of all the odd thigs I needed. The owner was so nice and helpful...he took my list and cart and said "come with me" as he picked out one thing after another while I scratched items off my list. This saved me a good 1/2 hour that I would have used hunting for those things myself. Then he showed me the GF isles of products...more than I have ever seen all in one place! Champion Grocery moved to a new space in the last year, the new space is much nicer and their popularity has increased greatly due to better street presence. Best of all I think the deals have gotten better! There's basically 3 major categories here: 1) Staple foods - nuts, dried fruits, spices, grains, legumes, and flours. Great selection and prices half to a fifth of a standard grocery. The only difference is no fancy containers or brands - but the quality is excellent. These items are fairly regular but do run out occasionally. 2) Special buys - shelf stable foods and household goods of all kinds: chips, crackers, chocolate, coffee, tea, canned foods, almond milk, etc. You'll also find personal care items, household cleaners, pet food, etc. There's always a huge selection but these items change regularly - if you like it, stock up. 3) Refrigerated section - this is new and while its small you'll get some really high quality eggs, milk, cheese, etc and it seems to average 25-50% off. The food quality is very high - you'll run into many of the same brands here as in your local PCC or Whole Foods. There is a certain quaintness to the place: everything is tagged for price instead of having a barcode/POS system, it is family run, and Jim will help you out to the car. Bottom line this place has something for everyone - no matter if you want potato chips or kale chips, coffee or energy drinks, wheat flour or coconut flour...they'll have it for the best price in town. UPDATE: These guys have moved from their previous warehouse space down the block to the strip mall next to the Rite Aid. It's a much lighter brighter space with big windows, where the old Aslan thrift store used to be. You just cannot beat the prices. Fantastic deals on items you'd find at Whole Foods or PCC and a small selection of name brands, not that it matters. They focus in canned, bottled, dry, and bulk goods, both organic and non-organic, personal care, and household items. They have a few dairy items in a small fridge. Don't expect fresh produce, meats, or even any ambiance. How do you think they can keep the prices so low?? Some of the bulk stuff, grains, fruits, and spices, are also local. Run by a nice friendly older couple with a cute teacup-sized poodle. Good people, good business. We need more companies like this! What can I say, I love shopping here, and wish I could get everything from this place! Only downside is the hours, need to shop on Saturday or leave the office early during the week. If you need bulk food at a low price, this is absolutely the best place to get it. I get stocked up on beans, wheat, rice, and oats here and store them in buckets long-term, which ends up saving me a lot of money. Shop here for rare grains like barley, quinoa, teff, AND SPICES TOO; YOU CAN GET LIKE 2 POUNDS OF OREGANO FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A TINY BOTTLE FROM OTHER STORES. Seriously cheap food! As I write this I feel like I am giving away a valuable secret but really there is no reason for me to keep this one to myself so... This place is awesome and a great resource for gluten free eaters on a budget. On top of that, the majority of the "other" food there is organic and the same stuff you might find on the shelves at PCC or Wholefoods. I keep telling people that it is worth the gas to get there since you can save at least half (or more) on your grocery bill. (For example, a bag of Mi-del cookies that retails at Fred Meyer for $3.50ish cost me $1.80 last trip) They don't always carry the same things so it is also a bit of an adventure every time I go. They also don't carry anything that needs refrigeration or freezing, strictly non-perishables and household items (dog food, laundry detergent, soaps, etc..). For those that like to bake, there is a wide assortment of flours, sugar, nuts and so forth. It is also a great place to pick up organic baby formula and natural diapers at a bargain. The owners are really nice people too, as is their tea-cup poodle Halo who patiently puts up with my daughter. I don't recall their exact hours but they are closed on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

This market is really FUN! Went there for the first time today with my dad, who's an Issaquah resident and a regular customer. The stock is an interesting mix, which I understand changes from visit to visit. Most items were good/great prices, with some really super bargains. For instance, I saw a box of organic baby cereal for $2.40 - my daughter bought the same item in LA yesterday on sale for $3.50. I also saw a box of name brand Kcups for $4 (dates still good). And I got a jar of Castelvetrano green olives for a buck. And a pound of individually wrapped 70% dark chocolates for $2. The owners are the type of people whose business you really want to support! After ringing up my dad's bag of stuff, the owner refused to let me pay for my box of chai, when i said i was visiting from Maryland. Then he carried out my sister's bag to the car. Thanks, Mr Champion! If I lived in the area, I'd definitely shop here regularly, for the bargains and just for the fun of discovery. I will definitely go back on my next visit to Issaquah. read more

This isn't your typical QFC/Safeway grocery store. It's like the gluten-free, organic-only Mecca for people who love to shop in what my bf refers to as the "hippie" section of grocery stores. Don't be offended, I'm one of them. I came here and loaded up on coconut flour and almond flour- $8-11 each for 3 lb bags. That's a bargain! I went Paleo a few years ago and now only bake with either so it was nice to stock up. I also bought a box of almond crusted date snacks which were $3! These sold for at least $5-7 at my grocery store in Chicago. Aside from a whole aisle fill of different types of flower and spices, the grocery store offers a ton of different condiments- again not your standard condiments. Overall, this is a great place if you're looking for certain things. We did have to stop at QFC right after for everything else- but we will be sure to return when my 3lb bags of flour run out. read more

A very strange place. The first time I was there, the owner insisted I have a juice/sparkling water thing out of the fridge on the house while I shop. They specialize in closeouts it would appear. You might walk in one day and find something you use all the time @ 3 for $1. The sell by date might be in a couple days but does mineral water in a bottle really go bad before you can drink it? Canned soup really off a week after the sell by date? But the bulk foods and the gluten free stuff is incredible. I have a nephew who can't have gluten or dairy but I get him cookie and cake mixes, crackers, pastas, whatever. Bulk foods include interesting flours (if you ever felt the need to make your own rye bread, they have rye flour, spelt too) and sea salt at really great prices. If you cook a bunch at home and use a wide variety of spices, your pantry should be filled here. You'll save a ton. Because I live close, I try to stop by every couple weeks and see if there's some amazing deal. Terra Chips 2 bags for a buck was my latest find. The only drawback is sometimes I pick up a weird, never heard of it, brand of boxed rice sides or instant noodles that is really not good. But sometimes those fifty-cent bargains you live and learn. read more

This is quite possibly the most random grocery store ever. Where else can you find the Garlic Lady's Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives next to Bob Marley's Mellow Brew? There is no rhyme or reason regarding what they have in stock- so it's pointless going there with a shopping list. They are also strangely only open Wednesday through Saturday. What you can count on Champion Grocery for is finding many, many screaming deals. Large boxes of chicken stock for $1.25, large bags of Kettle Chips are 3 for $1. Hot sauce is 45 cents. Huge cans of tomatoes are 2 for a buck. There is always a huge selection of very cheap Asian food items (chili oil, noodles, soup mix, marinades, wasabi mayo etc.). They also have tons of rice/beans/spices/flour- so if you are into scratch foods or baking- this is the place for you. I always walk out of Champion grocery with two or three large bags of random goodies and never spend more than $12 or $13. It's excellent. I like random and I like Champion Grocery. read more

Overall: A great little gem for bulk organic/gluten-free items I'm not one for outlet stores, let alone grocery outlet stores... I'm a food snob. I love shopping at PCC, and buy almost everything organic. However, I was curious about Champion. On popping in, I was gladly surprised. They have a range of organic/gluten-free goods, which are also sold at PCC/Whole Foods, at a fraction of the price. A few items are past/close to the best before end/sell by date, but if you're not fussed about that, then it's ok. I kinda am, so I skipped that stuff. This place is awesome on picking up items such as Tom's deoderant ($3.50) AND Tom's toothpaste ($2.50), as well as bulk flours and grains. Where else can you buy 4 1/2 lbs organic, garbanzo flour for $4.70? I also managed to get one 14 oz jar of organic extra-virgin coconut oil for $3.50! That alone was a steal! Service is great... your groceries are actually walked out to your car for you (whether you like it or not). Be sure to pet the resident dog whilst you're visiting. read more

They do have a small refrigerated case stocked with drinks and occasional dairy goods they get in. What is so amazing about this store? -bulk discounted dry goods.. Think beans, fruit, sugar, flour, and all kinds of gluten free substitutes -bulk spices and seasonings, super cheap -brands you would find at pcc and whole foods, for less than half retail -toiletries like preserve toothbrushes, essential oils, dr bronners, alba, weleda, andalou, toms of Maine, organic tampons etc, for super cheap -cleaning supplies like biokleen, mrs meyers, ecover, twist, compost bags etc, inexpensive -owners Kay and Jim are super friendly and Jim always walks groceries out to our car! -tons of gluten free items.. Baking, snacks, breakfast, etc. You never know what you'll find. Each visit is different. The only things that you have to remember is they are only open weds-sat, and that sometimes they shelve items very close to expiring or have recently expired but may still be good. I think they get overstock and close out items from stores. So think "grocery outlet" for high end stores like pcc and whole foods. read more
