Our favorite local Fresh Seafood and Meat market in the neighborhood. So many delicious selections it's always hard to decide! I'm like that kid in a candy store looking at every selection and trying to pick just one but it ends up being 3 or 4 choices. Also, many frozen options for a later date. My special treat is the candied salmon - you can't eat just one piece! Yes, they are a bit pricey yet, for special evenings spent with family/friends it's worth every penny. Very helpful staff and pleasant store. They also offer a good selection of wines, condiments, and breading options. Watch for their sales, too! read more

There is some high quality meat and seafood here, but the staff really make a difference. They all seemed willing to answer questions, and I really appreciate how two of them even initiated checking in to see if I needed help or what I wanted to order. I get the vibe that this is kind of like a donut shop; if you want the most options it's probably better to go early. I arrived late afternoon and they were out of mussels so I got clams instead and lemme tell you: Every. Single. One. opened as I steamed them. Didn't have to throw one out. Not a dime wasted. If you aren't into shellfish you're probably like "what's the big deal?", but I've left half a plate of closed mollusks at restaurants. When I say the shellfish is fresh here, I REALLY mean it. A few of our favorites: 1/3lb burger patties Bacon (plain and peppered) Bacon ends and pieces Andouille sausage Polish sausage Salmon dip Candied salmon dip Smoked salmon You have so much to choose from. Great quality steaks, pork chops, marinated meats, cheese, Wagyu, and even things like tendon in their freezer section. They have a great selection of wine and beers too. We stopped buying them due to dietary restrictions but the meatballs in the freezer are freaking delicious. So tender and flavorful, highly recommend. We also love to get their potato salad when we don't feel like making it ourselves. The marinated meats make for a great option for a weeknight meal with minimal prep. Honestly, there isn't anything here I haven't enjoyed. There steaks are on the higher end price but there are a lot of affordable options here. read more

Last weekend the butcher who helped me went above and beyond! Due to it being the winter, they did not have pre-formed hamburger patties but he specially made patties for me free of charge. Additionally, they only had full pieces of smoked bone marrow but I told him that my dog loved the middle pieces of smoked bone marrow and he went and cut a whole piece of the bone marrow so that I could just buy the middle piece of the bone marrow. I love the quality of their product and service. My main issue is with inventory. I live further away in Woodinville so I can only come here on weekends. That's when most of their products are mostly out because they make most of the already cooked/smoked products on weekdays. Really awesome if you live closer by and can come on weekdays. Otherwise I'd look for a butcher closer by. I made countless 30 mile round trips and came home empty handed because of inventory issues. read more

Just tried the, "Darn delicious chili mix" with 2lb of the ground chuck per the staff recommendation it was super easy to make and tasted fantastic! The only changes I made to the instructions on the back were adding two fresh on the vine tomatoes as opposed to the optional, tomato sauce and or paste etc it was a very easy, practical and ultimately quick to make recipe totaling approx 30 to 40min (no bean soaking or prep) of mostly just low covered simmering after simple and easy beef cooking and draining Etc. Would most certainly highly recommend! PS. Suggestions and brainstorming: Next time, along with the fresh on the vine tomatoes, I might also add chopped red onion, sweet mini peppers, and brown sugar. So many good options here. The best quality meats and I love all the seafood options as well. I especially love the candied salmon and pepperoni sticks with jalapeño and cheddar. The people are always so so so very nice. They greet you every time you come in and don't make you feel rushed at all. Lots of great wine and cheeses as well. Since the pandemic started, my husband and I have been regulars here. It's kind of nice to go in and out to pick up meat, without fighting crowds in big grocery stores. I feel like quality and prices are very similar to Whole Foods. Highlight: burger patties! They're SO good. I'd make them at home over having it out bc they're that good. What a gem to find here in Newcastle!!! I haven't had a consistent local butcher in years and what a difference it makes. Coming from a culinary background there is no comparing fresh local meats that have care and time in them. I got to meet Brett and he treated me with such care! I tried out a lot of items for my first time there and there are so many things im looking forward to bringing home! I got to try their smoked salmon which will be a regular purchase of mine, as well as the smoked poke as well. The red onion and cilantro just add an extra level of flavor! The beef jerky was my absolutely favorite though. As someone who absolutely loved beef jerky I loved how much depth in flavor there was as well as being tender, I definitely took some of that home. I'm addition to that, I will be enjoying so many things to come! Here's a full list of items I purchased: - cheddar bratwurst - andouille sausage - sauerkraut - garlic habanero hot sauce - carne asada - candied pork belly - spicy thick cut beef jerky - Kalbi chicken (pretty sure it was garlic chicken, but looks delicious anyways!) I am giving this business 5 stars both for the quality of meat and for the excellent customer service I received. I pre-ordered a rib pork roast for Christmas. When the time came to serve it I was disappointed to find that the chine bone was still in tact ( they agreed to remove it before pick up) and there was no other alternative but to serve it that way. This made the ribs impossible to cut. The meat itself turned out excellent. I took a chance and visited B&E after Christmas to talk with them about it and was so pleased that they made it right. Craig Vanden Bos was SO nice and even gave me a mini lesson on what to look for next time. I am now making B&E meats my go-to butcher shop. read more

Hands down, the BEST place in Washington state. I haven't been to any of the other locations but when you go into the Newcastle location, you get that personalized, small town feel. The customer service is out of this world, the employees are actually friendly and want to give the best customer service possible. I went to get some burger and was informed that they also had burger with bleu cheese, ummmm yes please! I believe the manager helped me, as soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted within a couple of seconds. I was asked what was for dinner that night and informed him that we were going to do burgers. I also had to get my daughter some of their candied salmon. If you have not tried this yet, you definitely need to. My husband loves it and so does my dad and my father in law. When we visit them (they live about 2.5 hours away) we usually grab them some of B&E's amazing smoked candied salmon. I was talking to (not sure of his name but I think he's the manager) and he was asking me if we had any fun plans for the weekend. I informed him we just got a new puppy, (black lab) and we talked about the breeder I got our pup from and he said him and his wife were thinking about getting a puppy within the next year. I gave him the breeders name in case he was interested in Labrador retrievers. After paying for my stuff, I figured since my daughter and our puppy were in the car, I would take him to see the guy thinking about getting a pup. I went back in and asked him if he wanted to meet Henry, he came out and met him and even asked if he could take a pic of him for his wife. I mean, how much more personal and small town feel can you get ? After meeting Henry, I was walking with another lady I had met, and we were talking dogs. That guy was so awesome, he went back inside, within a couple of minutes, came out with a smoked pig ear for Henry, and he knew the lady I was talking to had two dogs and gave her two pig ears for her dogs. Like seriously, who give amazing customer service like this? B&E Meats, that's who. Go visit them, get some grub for the weekend and chat it up with the boys. Seriously overpriced & unethical butcher. Be careful when you shop here! I'm always environmentally conscious and decline unnecessary plastic bags. They do NOT ask if you want a bag. They just bag everything and charge you $.10 for it! When you decline the bag, they'd tell you they already charged for it. I'm not sure if it's even legal. They don't give out itemized receipts like regular stores, so I guess most customers wouldn't even know about this unethical practice. WA state imposed bag fees to reduce waste, not so this butcher can profit for such flimsy bags! I don't think their thin bags even qualify as "reusable." Oh, and their credit card terminal asks for tips! Since when did grocery stores started asking for tips?! I decided not to get $59.99/lb scallops! You can get high quality meat and seafood from other stores for much less. One star I'm forced to give this business is for the nice staff (who all work for the tip!) read more

I purchased lamb lollipops for Christmas. They were cut terrible and ruined my presentation. I also spent ~$65 for them and could have saved $30 buying them elsewhere. I tried to cut them as best as I could but there were broken bones and odd pieces. I know they get this from New Zealand but I am paying for their mistakes. Last year I bought a leg of lamb and asked them to cut it. They gave me the short end and that was terrible too. Maybe they like to ruin Christmas for their customers. I think they have good meat but they do not have quality control especially on their frozen food. Maybe I am not one of the regulars so I am treated differently. I will support Top of the Hill more and maybe go to B&E for small things like chicken wings and some of their other items I do like. I will not support them for expensive items anymore. I took in some fresh salmon for processing--cut into dinner fillets, vacuum seal, and freeze. Unfortunately someone in the back room make a mistake and smoked the whole batch! But, B&E admitted to the error and committed to make it right. And they sure did! Not only did they replace my catch with fresh (King) salmon and process it as desired, but they also sent me home with the whole batch of smoked! Can't believe I've lived less than a mile away my entire life and never knew about this place. Came here to buy steaks for my dads birthday and because my mom is always raving about how great this place is. Really awesome butcher with a huge selection of seafood and meats. Staff members were very knowledgable and friendly! One guy saw me and my friend eying the smoked salmon and offered us VERY generous samples to try of multiple smoked fish. Needless to say it was so delicious we ended up buying some. They also have a lot of wine, bread, crackers, and spices to make it convenient for last minute dinner prep! I go to B & E for buying meat for special occasions like Christmas, 4th of July or out of town friends. I should probably go more frequently, since the meat is always top notch. The butchers will give good advice, cut or trim your meat and help you get the right quantity for your event. They also have great sausages and smoked and candied salmon. Had family in town and wanted to do an early Thanksgiving. Understandably our normal spots didn't have Turkeys in yet, so after calling around, we found this place. We made our way over there and the guy who helped us had a bit of an attitude for some reason which was off putting but whatever. We got our turkey and headed out. Even after defrosting in the fridge for a few hours there was a bit of an odor. I assumed it was something else in the fridge. Continued defrost in fridge and the smell from this thing was horrendous. It clearly was rancid. I assume it had been refrozen multiple times or was on the way out before being frozen. Coming from a butcher shop, it wasn't cheap either. So, huge waste of money and pretty disappointing for us and our guests. read more

This butcher shop is fantastic. I needed some really thin sliced bacon and coarse ground pork for a pate de campagne. Unlike most grocery stores and even some other butcher shops nearby, B & E was willing to thin slice bacon for me and coarse grind pork shoulder for me. They also had some really great looking Prime Dry Aged ribeye with incredible marbling in the case for around the same price I've seen Prime non-aged ribeye at the grocery store. I recently used B&E meats to process and smoke 20 lbs of Chinook salmon that was in my freezer from the winter season. I'm very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship that went into smoking my small personal batch. I have smoked my own and used other services and the quality, the flavor, and even the presentation of the finished product stands up against the finest I have ever seen. Awesome stuff! First off, the parking lot is tiny! So if you were like me, trying to come here on one if the busiest holidays (Thanksgiving), then plan accordingly! Ordering my turkey legs was extremely easy with B&E on the phone. No hassle and quick. Only thing was that I had to ask about the pricing and they didn't tell me until I asked - you know cause no one wants to be surprised when you go pick up something with a large bill. The quality of these turkey legs were amazing! Not much tendon so a lot of meat. Each were about 11 to 14 oz. So pretty consistent in size. Cooked up easily and beautifully. I have to say that the service situation was very much like a bar...though people are of course a lot more courteous. It just "who can I help next?" Like any other butcher stores, but I was thinking for the holidays it would be a more organized and systematic way. So I waited longer to get my turkey than expected, but that's quite minor. All in all, would love to come back to try their other meats and awesome game selection! read more
