Simply the best quality food and specialty grocery items available in my area. This is a special occasion trip for me, otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep my grocery bill within budget. But when I want something special, this is the place. Christmas Eve at our house usually involves crab cakes and salad, scallops and white wine, crusty bread, etc. This is where we fill the cart. We haven't quite lived up to the Italian tradition of the feast of the seven fishes; I usually manage four or five fishes, but this is where we get them. This year the menu was shrimp bisque, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes and scallops. Plus a few Fran's salted caramels as a stocking stuffer. No photos this time. Love this place. Quality of meat, fish poultry is good. Also love their bakery. If you have not had "the ookie"' you need to go get one. It is not for the diet conscious. In fact it is partly responsible for my missing six pack. It's well worth it. It's not cheap. But if you need some quick groceries and don't want to drive far for them this place is an excellent option. Their soup in the prepared foods section is solid. Hungry but not wanting to go to a restaurant? I was. Metropolitan Market to the rescue. They have an excellent selection of ready-to eat items. Salad bar? Yep--it's not just your standard stuff, either: you can totally grab your own sampler of their deli salads. I tried a couple of the ones that feature broccoli, and both were delicious. They also have a very delicious tabouli, a nice Asian noodle, and many more. There's a poke bar if that's your jam, along with a hot bar and a soup bar. (I skipped those--it's toasty!) There is plenty of seating inside if you want to eat there (clean and right by the windows for plenty of light), but I headed outside to people watch. I legit think my cashier was on crack, or meth, or both. When I walked in she was cheering loudly to her coworkers for some unknown reason. When it came time to ring me up, she literally tossed all my produce including my tomatoes into a bag. When I got home, the tomatoes were all split open. It was maybe 30 mins before closing, so maybe it's hard to find anyone who wants to be there that late. I guess just avoid this place after they break out the crack pipes. read more

Customer service is mainly good.... it does lack. Almost got run over last week by a couple of guys in a hurry, not paying attention. My only complaint is they are not as helpful as it used to be. There was a young (assistant?) manager there about 6 years ago that was stellar. Brit? HE would go out of his way to help anyone. This is a review specifically for their prime rib sandwich. You. must. get. it. If you love prime rib like I do, you'll be satisfied. The quality isn't superb but it's decent for a posh grocery store like metropolitan market. If you ask the carver nicely, they'll give you the pieces that you want (more or less fatty, end pieces etc). I ask for extra horseradish on the side and they give it to me for free. The dip is a little too salty for me so I use it very sparingly just to moisten the French bread. Also, it's a crime to let the prime rib sit and dry out so once you order eat it right away!!! It's a bit pricey so it's not my regular grocer but I'll come to pick up specifics odds and ends I'd want to splurge on. We had also ordered the meal kit for this past Thanksgiving, they had great selection and variety, and the pick-up process was seamless. Visited Metropolitan Market for the first time and noticed it had two separate entrances, but only one had working checkout stands. The other entrance had a register area that was blocked off. It left me wondering if it'll be opened in the future. Inside, the store had a wide variety of selections, including fresh seafood and a hot food section with a self-serve buffet bar. The layout was clean and inviting, and there were employees available throughout the store, which made the experience smoother. Parking, however, was a bit chaotic. We came here for the first time because this is one of the few grocery stores that still carries Cucina Fresca Alfredo Sauce. It's super hard to find but they sell it here. The prices are outrageous, but the selection, quality of food, and customer service is wonderful. We bought only about five items - including the alfredo sauce and fruit such as oranges and pre-cut watermelon and cantaloupe - and spent $57. Based on a strong recommendation from our cashier we made a second purchase of the two famous cookies - chocolate chip with walnuts and a peanut butter cookie. Those came to $13, but they were so incredibly delicious!! We'll definitely return as it's a clean and beautiful store with great products. read more

Every year, my favorite part of summer is Peach-o-Rama at Metropolitan Market. The super sweet peaches, fragrant Pluots, and juicy nectarines are so amazingly good. Their fishmongers are the best around, and the Skagit Valley miche by Essential Baking (exclusive to Metropolitan Market) is fantastic. Unfortunately, I just found that one of my favorite deli dishes, Shaved Brussels Corn Salad, has been diluted with water chestnuts :-( My family doesn't like them, so I specify "no water chestnuts" when we go to some Asian cuisine restaurants. I never imagined that I'd have to be careful about that in Metropolitan Market deli dishes. read more

I was looking for a last-minute birthday cake and found Metropolitan Market online. I ordered a cake through their website, and it confirmed a 7:45 PM pickup time, which was perfect since I needed it for a birthday dinner the next day. When I arrived at the store around 7 PM, I decided to grab something from the hot bar while waiting. While inside, I checked my order status again and suddenly saw it had changed to a next-day pickup at 9 or 10 AM--which wouldn't work because I had to work that morning. Confused, I called the store for clarification. Unfortunately, the woman who answered was incredibly rude and dismissive. I simply asked if my order was ready and explained what I saw on the website, but instead of helping, she responded condescendingly, telling me to "follow the app directions." The issue? I was using their website, not an app--and I was already calling the store for help, just as she told me to. A few minutes later, another woman called asking if I was "Kirsten"--which I'm not. It felt like they didn't even have their order or customer info straight. So I got up, asked at checkout, and the same rude woman from earlier appeared and said, "I think I was on the phone with you earlier. We don't have your order." She then asked me to cancel the order--no apology, no accountability. I wasted hours for a cake that was never properly processed, and on top of that, had to deal with unhelpful and disrespectful staff. The only bright spot was the bakery guy--he was kind, professional, and actually helpful. They need to hire more people like him and rethink how they handle customer service. No one should be treated like an inconvenience when they're just trying to solve a problem. read more

I came here a few time to grab some lunch during my work lunch break in the afternoon, and they seem to always be running low on their hot table items. On my last visit, I decided to get from the poké bar, and it's a bit pricey; it was $10 for my small container. I got the poké shrimp, and when I sat at my desk to eat it, I couldn't enjoy it. The shrimp was still frozen. I was pretty disappointed with my lunch and probably won't care to get from the poké bar again. I guess I'll stick to their "The Cookie." read more

Met Market in Kirkland is one of my favorite places to shop. The atmosphere is always inviting, and the staff are warm and helpful. The coffee shop and bakery are absolutely amazing--perfect for a little treat or pick-me-up while shopping. I also adore the flower shop! The pre-arranged bouquets flown in from Ecuador every Saturday are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I have no idea what it is about this place, but it is my addiction. I love going here, growing up my mom always drove me by and I would ask her why we never went. I'm still not sure why we never came but now it's our go to shopping destination multiple times a week. The thing I really like about Metropolitan Market is their wide selection, unlike other stores either serving more natural, organic products or fake, cheap ones, this Market serves a wide selection of both. Making it easier to be able to just come to one store insetad of multiple for different products. All of the products here are amazing to, all local fresh produce, selling Seattle local brands and products. And dont get me started on their goods, I am actually addicted to their cold pasta bar I can't even say how many bowls I've eaten. They also have multiple sections of fresh food stations with a sushi bar, hot bar, salad bar, pasta bar, bakery, sandwich section, and even gelato from Gelatimo in Seattle! All of their food made there, like I sad is amazing and if you get a chance to visit definitely invest in their "The cookie" or one of their amazing pastries/cakes. Easily one of my favorite market places overall - i'm glad theres one close by to my work place as I used to live by the Sammamish location and miss going there since my move. MM is definitely an 'upper echelon' type market. fresh fruits, veggies, high quality produce and foods are offered. But one of there best kept secrets is the quality of their bakery and hot foods/deli area. Always phenomenal soups, sandwiches, salad bar and (some locations even have poke, and ethinic eats. The pricing here is indeed higher than your standard neighborhood grocery store but it's all reflected in the quality of the items offered. Everyone that i've encountered there, shoppers and employees alike are all very nice and helpful. The store is always clean and it rarely if ever feels hectic. My only gripe if i had to pick one is the lot is pretty tight and can get hectic on busy days. But that's just a personal problem because i drive a giant truck lol read more

Metropolitan Market served us best while we were on the house hunt in Seattle and had limited time for lunch, but also didn't want fast food. Not only do they have an amazing selection of grab-and-go items, there's an array of sandwiches for the choosing which they'll grill for you on the spot. Bonus points, it won't break the bank, is semi-healthy (depending on what you get), and there's a plenty of great midday sweet treats for post dinner desserts to stock up on in their bakery as well (don't forget those cookies!) If you're looking to pick up some flowers, they had an awesome assortment of bouquets and potted options to pick from for yourself or if you wanted to brighten someone's day. If we lived in the area, we'd definitely be here on the regular for their pre-made food items. But until then, we'll continue to stop by when in Kirkland and picking up eats for whatever outdoor destination we're heading to. read more

I ordered from Met Market with a delivery through Instacart. I will never use Instacart again. None of the produce was placed in produce bags. So it went from the produce section into a cart used by many people and then to the cash register unwrapped and then into the delivery car and then placed on my doorstep. All while not being put in a produce bag. I have never had groceries delivered this way and really question the delivery persons hygiene. I spent over 2 1/2 hours trying to get a refund between time spent on the phone with Instacart and time going back to the store as Instacart initially informed me to do. It was like dealing with Comcast I never got my dinner made and it wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time. Instacart was not willing to refund me for the groceries even though I brought them back to the store and had the manager standing right next to me to join the call if necessary. Originally I was told Instacart couldn't do anything regarding a refund and it wasted up to Met Market. Went to Met Market and was told it's up to Instacart as they are a third party vendor. Whole experience was terrible customer service, wasted hours of my time. I finally hung up on fourthInstacart Rep and said I would take it up with my bank. Who doesn't put produce ie. lettuce, celery, green onions, onions in a produce bag if you are packing for someone else and delivering? Produce went in shopping cart , to cashier station / rolling belt into store bag, Instacart shoppers car, out in the rain, up an elevator and placed outside my door without ever being properly wrapped in a produce bag. To me that is unacceptable. Who doesn't put produce in a produce bag as a grocery delivery person? Never will I use Instacart again! read more

I was in the area and wanted a snack and decided I wanted to try the cookie. Reviews aren't kidding, these are good cookies. Due to the gooeyness it is a bit messy to eat but it's part of what makes it a good cookie. I def recommend sharing if you can since eating one on your own is a bit much but a guarantee that you'll get a walnut bite. We love the Met Market bakery in Kirkland!!! Twice, I've placed my customized cake orders and they've always went above and beyond in designs and taste! The care they took to create wonderful memories just made me so thankful! (See photos of Animal Crossing themed cake!) And for 6-7 months, we would get our daily morning coffee there. The staff, Taylor and Meghan, to name just a few, were so accommodating and helpful. They've added soft pretzels and so many unique items to choose from. Grab as many of the strawberry and birthday flavored cotton candy tubs as you can! It's like eating puffy clouds! I visit Metropolitan Market whenever I'm in the area and in need of a few items or something quick for takeout. Metropolitan Market provides high-quality items, locally-sourced and organic, while also offering more middle-of-the-line products. Located in Kirkland, it's nice to have this market in the area, especially around other businesses, making it easy for running errands. The lower level of Metropolitan Market is where you can find kitchen accessories and tools and small gift items. The layout of the entire store makes the most of what they can in its smaller space, as I find this location is not as spacious as other Met Markets. The hot food/deli area is not bad. They rotate on different cuisines, but have most of the same items like the rotisserie area and poke bar. I personally like the cheese selection here, as they have a good selection of international cheeses, ranging in different price points. Met Market is a solid place for getting groceries or takeout. I always find something to eat whenever I'm here, which is sometimes hit and miss; but overall, it's convenient and has a good selection. read more

Alright - it was my first time here a couple of weeks ago! I'm surprised how straight it is from my workplace to here - 5 mins! My colleague often comes here and raves about it. The French beignets with chocolate hazelnut as well as the yummy baked cinnamon bread are spectacular! I decided to see it for myself and MY OH MY! What an establishment. The produce section is well organized and the plants/flowers they had are beautiful! The bakery had specialty cakes, pastries and a section by the slice. You MUST try their banana pudding in the cup! It is the BEST i've ever had and while I really can't compare b/c I don't have banana pudding often -- this one was like, heaven. If I wanted something like a cake for my birthday, it'd be this pudding right here! I wish it was made a cake version LOL. OK so it is expected to be upscale in prices. It's high quality and such. I don't think I'd come here regularly...since it'll break my bank! But I will come here just to have those specialty beignets and such that are not in another grocery store! Oh yeah -- I got the French beignets in mixed berry - you MUST try those as well. The deli stuff looks very nice too. Their dinners are made to go and of course, sit between $8-$13. I tried to find their poke bar but couldn't? All I saw was sushi chefs and making sushi. Hmmm. Staff is quiet and some are friendly! The cashier John who was relatively new was very nice! I was waiting in line at the cash register. The customer in front of me was an Instacart shopper. I noticed he had a large order. Politely, he mentioned to me that it would take a while. He was well-spoken. I could not say the same about the cashier. She did not greet him with a friendly smile, nor did she bid him farewell when the transaction was over. He offered to lift the heavy items from the cart so she could scan without effort. Yet, any gesture of kindness from him was met with a cold stare from the cashier's face. When my turn to checkout had come, the coldness from her face melted into warmth. Rita greeted me with a welcoming smile. Cashiers have failed to understand that Instacart shoppers are also customers. Many are part-time shoppers and part-time customers. The two are not mutually exclusive. They are vital at bringing income to the store and delivering groceries to customers who are young and old, healthy and sick. The disparity in how they are treated at the store is no less than discrimination. It's precisely the behavior of these cashiers that customers no longer want to shop at the store. It's difficult to hate Metropolitan Market, except maybe the prices. O_O Seriously, the quality of the products are consistently high across the board. Particularly walk along the U-shape outer rim, produce along the entry wall, the bakery along the back corner, cheeses, poke take-out, soups, hot and cold food take-outs along the back wall, and seafood and meats at the far wall, these areas are by far the best to explore. I genuinely have not been disappointed. For grocery store splurges, this place is where I go, not "Whole Paycheck". My top indulgences: - Poke takeout - "The Cookie" - Castelvetrano olives from the olive bar (don't buy from jars) - Tomato basil soup, usually available from the hot bowls - Fresh Mozzarella cheese that they hand-pull at the store I order the Thanksgiving turkey from them every year. Totally worth it over Butterball. :P I rarely buy shelf staple groceries from here. They simply don't compare in cost. The staff seems to be happy and empowered.
