    Buckets of sewage

When I wrote this review, I asked myself a simple question; knowing what I know now, would I still have hired Champion Plumbing? The answer is no, and I will explain why. It started out when the toilet and the shower in my mother's house started to flood sewage. We contacted Rotor Rooter first, and the plumber showed us a camera footage of the impacted main sewer line, and suggested that they had to tear up a significant portion of our house tile to get to it. We sought a second opinion with Champion, and this is where the worst plumbing experience of our lives began. The Champion plumbers made the job seem easy, and even suggested they could use a trenchless sewer line extraction after they dug three holes; two inside the house and one by the outdoor sewer access. Seemed simple enough, and we agreed to let them on the job. Champion then mentioned Adams Disaster and Recovery would set up containment tents after we signed the contract with Champion. This disaster company was one of the worst companies I had the displeasure of working with. They were unprofessional, unprepared and every time they showed up it was with a completely different person except for two people on three separate occasions. After this whole ordeal was over, I found containment tents for twenty dollars at Home Depot, Adams was not needed. The receptionist at Champion was snide and unprofessional, but I will get to her later. After they invited the disaster company, Champions went to work digging the access holes. The Champion plumber then pleaded with us to allow a fourth hole to be dug in the house to ease their access to the main sewer line. I vehemently disagreed; however, my mother thought it was a good idea for them to do so, and thus a fourth hole was dug. This fourth hole is where all of our problems sprang fourth. Adams came in again to work with my mother's home insurance company, and they later gave us dehumidifiers and fans that were not really needed. All we needed was to get rid of our contaminated cabinets, we had already cleaned up the sewage mess. Once Champions finished the job, and resealed the holes, we thought everything was over. It was not, as the worst was yet to come. The kitchen sink started to back up the day they were finished. No big deal, these things happen right? The clog got worse over a three-day period, to where the dishwasher would backlog the sink. We bought a new garbage disposal, as ours was about seven years old, and we thought that would fix the problem. No, before the weekend the unimaginable happened; raw sewage started to flood from the sink. Champion Plumbing did not fix the sewer main, and sewage was seeping under our kitchen as well. This was a scenario beyond my worse household nightmares, and we called Champion immediately after this happened. This is the part where the receptionist comes into play; she would only dispatch one plumber at a time, and they claimed not to really know what was going on. After the weekend they finally sent in the field supervisor to determine that what we assumed was true; the main sewer line was improperly done, as we could see a wet stain underneath the recently-sealed fourth hole. Adams was invited again to make containment tents, destroying our expensive custom-made blinds in the process. The work began to redrill the hole and fix the sewer main line; however only one young gentleman was sent to do the job. Sensing a pattern here? He shoveled buckets and buckets of dirt, sewage, and rock and placed it on tarps in the front yard. After a few days, he stated expert plumbers would be brought in to look at the issue. We went through at least three experts that looked at the sewer hole, and then left the house after about forty minutes; vowing to return. They never did, and we spent Labor Day weekend shoveling the mess left out in or front yard, as Champion Plumbing was giving us the run-around. The sun was hot, the work was difficult, and neighbors passed by with shocked looks on their faces. Champion finally fixed their mistake in the end, however, because of how disastrous the whole ordeal was, I believe my mother is entitled to a complete refund. We had to replace the kitchen cabinets, stove, etcetera that were all soaked in sewage. Go ahead and look up sewage in the kitchen sink, you will not find many results. I tried contacting even the company license holder; Jeff M Stanley, with a letter requiring a signature, to no avail. I hope that someone from Champion Plumbing will contact me or my mother to resolve this issue. We are currently in talks with a legal advisor; hopefully it will not need to go to the courts, but who knows.

I was optimistic about this company because of good reviews on Google and Yelp and Nextdoor. While…read morethe cause of my leak seems to be resolved (at least for now) it did bother me that I took the time to ask several times with the dispatcher "Taneea"(sp) and she said there was no fee to diagnose and I kept asking are you sure because in order to see where the leak is coming from my bathroom upstairs from the shower and where it settling we need to look at the pipes underneath where the drywall is and that involves cutting the ceiling drywall. And I asked her again several times if there's any charge for leak tracing or anything she was leaving out just to look and see before repairing and she said no, there's no diagnostic charge. They get here and tell me it's gonna be $125 just to cut the drywall and I just don't understand how there can be such a disparity between what I verified by phone and what I was being told now. And even if I give them the benefit of the doubt that the dispatcher was mistaken (though that's something very strange for a dispatcher who works for and represents a company to say, if not true) the fact that she did tell me that clearly, you would think to keep a customer they would stand by their own word, so not a great first impression. I still paid them $455 to change the cartridge in my shower, but they would not take five or ten minutes to cut up two 6"x6" holes in the drywall and look inside to see if there's any other extensive damage or leaking. I may just leave it for now and keep an eye for any signs of staining or moisture rather than deal with drywall repair. I still will inspect around the electrical where the ceiling fan canopy is and remove it from the ceiling to see if there's any water damage to the fan and light fixture or if it can be salvaged and still works once all is dry and I can restore power to the room. But they refused to look for any signs below to ensure there were no other signs of a leak unless I paid more. Another thing is with a large hole behind the shower faucet escutcheon where the leak occurred what's to keep another cartridge from failing and leaking right down into the room below and getting into the electrical and drywall and ruining another ceiling fan? I wish they'd have taken the time to tell me how to seal off that wall behind the faucet handle or given me suggestions but they just kind of did their job and left. They didn't offer me any advice or tips to prevent this again or set my mind at ease, and taking the time to do that would have made me feel more "taken care of" and built a rapport as a new customer. They just wanted to do the job I asked and go. So while I have no other complaints so far, they didn't go the extra mile or make me feel reassured at all for such a serious issue. It was just a "job" to cross of their list and not spend a second longer than necessary to show, discuss or reassure.

Unfortunately, I've needed them a lot lately with a 30-year-old house I bought almost 6 years ago that has had a lot of old plumbing issues. These guys have been phenomenal from the service on the first phone call all the way through to the confirmation calls, to the pre-call to let me know they're arriving soon, to the service itself, the the immediate follow up to make sure everything met my satisfaction. Every single employee I've worked with has been phenomenal, and just yesterday put icing on the cake of that statement. I thought I'd leave a review finally. Cody came out and visited us first and tested our water. He also made sure the leak was fixed very professionally, and of course everything works great now. He recommended a new whole-house filtration system since ours was old and actually doing more damage than good. Jorge and Victor came out yesterday and installed that system, and as usual, they were phenomenal. Like I said, every visit has been the best, and I would wholeheartedly recommend these guys to anyone I know, as I have done for many people already. Thank you Bumble Bee!

We'd turn it off for a bit, turn it back on and it would work just fine for a few more days. Didn't seem to be a problem with electric, refrigerant, etc. We'd had the unit serviced recently so not much dirt on the unit.. I guess we're lucky because in the few years we've been here both our units have functioned great. Wasn't sure who to call, but we'd had a great experience with the plumbing side of Hansen, so we reached out. Scheduling was very easy. You can do so online, or a real person answers the phone. They offered to have someone out within a few hours! Our problem wasn't that urgent, but it's comforting to know. Benjamin was our technician, and he was great with communication. He diagnosed the problem (leaking fan motor) very quickly, and gave us options for repair. At no time was he pushy about anything, just factual. We were on the fence with repair vs replace, but decided the unit had enough life in it to repair. Ben also gave us figures on replacing with an eye towards the future. He wrote it all up even knowing that we weren't going to buy anything in the short term. This is really excellent customer service, and you can bet when we're ready we will remember. The repairs were done quickly, we got an email with the invoice and pictures of all the areas worked on. The property was left tidy, and it was an overall excellent experience. That was a week ago, and our AC is working better than it has in the past two years.
