I am beyond grateful that this restaurant is open late! My flight was averted to Pittsburgh so there are many a stranded passenger here tonight And I didn't get to the Doubletree until 930 Olicio is the hostess with the mostest! She greeted me with a smile and seated me quickly. She also checked in with me a couple times throughout dinner she keeps very busy cheerfully cleaning tables and checking in with the servers to see how they're doing. Joe the bartender makes a perfect martini!! Next time I come here I will order the Dirty Player. A Tito's dirty martini with blue cheese olives! My server was Jennifer (Jenny V) and she is super sweet and provides excellent service with a smile. I love the collaborative effort as far as everybody pitching in to deliver food, clean tables etc. It was late so I didn't get to sample much on the menu I had soup at the moment which was chicken noodle and it was and hit the spot after a long day of travel. I also had the garlic Parmesan crispy wings and a fabulous glass of Sean Minor Cabernet. As an added bonus I received a 25% off coupon via Yelp for checking in!!

Feeling trapped? Don't worry because Champion's is good for your food and beverage needs! I stay at the Doubletree near the airport on most of my trips to Pitt. It is convenient to the airport and not too far from downtown. The only drawback is that the nearest restaurant aside fro Champion's is two miles away and more often then not I don't have a car. Not a worry though because Champion's has a fine selection for small plates and full courses to meet your needs. The restaurant is a sports bar with a number of sets all showing different events. The crowd is mixed but mostly business travelers who tend to be courteous. The bar staff is excellent though I admit my needs are simple; whiskey, bourbon or craft beer. Since the bar carries my favorite bourbon they are perfect I've had several of the small dishes and their famous "Pub" burger. The food is 3.75 stars which I've rounded to 4. The burger and fries were top notch but their calamari was dull. In the morning they serve a buffet breakfast which compares to most American hotels. I wish we could take a lesson from the Japanese on how to put together a breakfast spread!

Vinnie and the gang are the best. Great hotel bar, 18 TV screens for wall to wall sports. Food is exceptional which I'm usually critical of most hotels bars not being. Highly recommend.

Located inside of the Double Tree by Hilton. The restaurant itself is quite old and run down. Could use a freshening up. The floors were quite dirty and everything seemed out of place. The hostess could have cared less that we were interested in a table. The hesitated to "bother finding us one". After ordering 3 different drinks off of their menu, the server could only offer me one. The server we had was DAVE. He himself is spectacular, makes you feel comfortable and welcomed, kudos to him!A genuinely sweet man who gives you his honesty. For appetizer he chose the calamari. Highly recommend! The breading is perfect and crunchy, with a tangy sweet Asian glaze and a wasabi type dip. We also ordered the French onion soup which I returned back to the kitchen. The broth had a creamy strange twist that I couldn't swallow. For entree I ordered the angus burger. Very interesting, it was topped with pulled pork. Quite tasty except even though I ordered medium rare the meat was burnt beyond edible. Fiancé order chicken sandwich and it lacked any seasoning. Overall the place is good if you just want to catch the game on their many large screen TV's but as for food, the entrees are overly prices for low quality.

Fillet Monin with broccoli and scallop potatoes. Yum!

Its a decent serving size for an appetizer. I enjoyed it. The nachos were surprisingly tasty. When they came out I was unsure about them because any other time I've ever ordered a loaded type nacho they're, how do I explain it, more colorful I guess. Usually its like bacon and American cheese, guac, pico, etc., but these were just shades of white and green. I wish I could've finished them but the portion was quite a bit for 1 person. My only gripe would be the chicken. It reminded me of the meat you get in a launchable. I think I would rather prefer a crispy diced chicken. But that's just me. The other 2 didn't have any complaints about the Rival Stix or the burger. The Chicken Tenders were said to not have much flavor in the breading. The person who ordered them didn't care for the breading. I was also tempted into some sort of creme brulee donut I think. It was really good but I was already so stuffed from the nachos that I couldn't finish it. Its for the sweet tooth folks. The general space is all sports themed as expected. Quite spacious. Seems like the perfect place to come after work for a beer...and nachos!

The burger was juicy and the Rival Sauce was some kind of aioli that added some zip to it. The fries were crispy but not overcooked. The Great White Hype pizza was basic. Nothing outstanding, but not bad either. I have been to this location three times and I would say the food has been hit-or-miss. Service has also been spotty. During lunch (my first trip), our waitress was very attentive, drinks were consistently refilled, and our food came out promptly. The second time, I had to flag down our waitress quite several times to get anything. Nothing to complain about when it comes to the prices. Everything is standard and they have some solid happy hour offerings that extend until 6:30pm while others start after 7pm. On a scale of 1-5: Food - 3 Service - 3.5 Price - 4.5

Made my first visit to The Village TapHouse on a Wednesday evening this past August. I love any…read morekind of Bingo, and I saw on Facebook they were holding their monthly Bar Bingo on this night. So, I made my way on over. The Village TapHouse is located in the South Hills Village Mall area, but a little up the road from the actual mall. It is tucked away in the rear of the building located on the corner of Washington Road and North Highland Road. The business that is visible from the main intersection is Clubhouse Cards. If you follow North Highland past this entrance off of Washington, The Village TapHouse will be on your right. There is some limited parking right in front of the entrance. However, since there are a lot of other businesses around here, you can find other parking across the street or before the actual entrance, regardless of which direction. I had no issue getting a spot right across the street, and making the short walk over. I arrived that evening around 7:00 PM, as that is when the Bingo was slated to start. There were a good amount of people attending the event, as the indoor main dining area was pretty much full when I arrived! No issue for me though, as I was by myself. So, I found a seat at the bar. There were several other patrons sitting at the bar, but it was not shoulder-to-shoulder or anything like that. There is also some patio seating, but I do not believe the Bingo was heard out in that area. Once situated, I went up to buy my Bingo cards from the two hosts. They were set up in the main dining room, but were using microphones. I had no issue hearing them all night long from the bar. It was $10 for a pack of 3 cards, and I purchased 2 packs. They also had daubers for sale, but I brought my own to use. I waited around for the games to start once I bought my cards, which ended up being around 7:30 PM. It was also Pajama-themed Bingo, which I was unaware of until I arrived. This allowed you for a special perk for one of the games. I am not sure if they always do this, but I would advise participating in whatever theme is advertised to get the most out of your experience. There were a few bartenders serving this evening. The lady who waited on me was prompt and friendly the whole night. I started off with a pint of FireWistle Red. It was a solid red beer, and served as a nice sipper for my evening. As the Bingo went on, I decided to put in a food order. I ordered a Half Dozen Wings in the Chicken and Waffles Wet Rub. I thought this was a unique flavor, so I wanted to give it a try. I enjoyed the taste of these! They were split wings, but overall the size was serviceable. The plate also had several pieces of celery and ranch dressing to accompany the wings. The food here was fairly priced. For my 6 wings and beer pint, the total was around $15. It seemed from the menu that the majority of entrees were $15 or under, which I believe is a great deal. Overall, no complaints in terms of prices or value. I ended up staying here for nearly three hours in order to finish the Bingo games. So, I had plenty of time to take in the atmosphere. I enjoyed the people, staff, and the overall vibe of the place. The patrons were friendly, and the staff seem to recognize their regulars while having meaningful conversation. Plus, the Bingo games brought some fun and entertainment to the night overall. This first visit of mine to The Village TapHouse was a positive one. Very much enjoyed the people, atmosphere, food, and fun Bingo activities. I cannot believe with how close I live to here that it took me this long to give it a try. Now I am happy to know there is a spot like this practically in my backyard. I have seen on Facebook that they also have Trivia Nights, so that is something I want to check out in the future. Even though I did not win Bingo this time, it will not stop me from coming back and trying again. I would recommend stopping here for a meal, or a fun night of entertainment, if you find yourself in the South Hills Village area of town.
