Ok....I know....it's a chain...but damn. When someone makes good on a favorite dish of mine, it's hard not to feel quite excited! Better yet, they've done it more than once, and the quality was fire both times! So.....Champps, a corporation restaurant chain, with only this location in our UPNY area, I feel does a pretty bang up job at this location. I feel pretty ok saying that around 8-10 years ago I wasn't a huge fan, but they have grown on me. Purely good quality alone. A sprawling menu has been refined a bit more, but there are still a ton of offerings! Their mile high nachos are a great starter to share, as they pack it on with the chicken (or chili) and cheese and queso. The tuna stack tower (yum!) Is a great app that is literally littered with ahi, avocado and rice, and inserts of jicama slaw and just delicious! My fave, though, the Ahi Tuna Tacos. They have great burger and pizza and beef and chicken offerings...but these are my go to. The succulent ahi tuna with the pepper slaw and Sriracha aioli are just a straight flavor explosion. A generous side of chips and salsa (hard to finish!) completes the offering. Paired with an IPA it's noms on fire! read more

I freely admit that I have avoided this place for years because it just seemed like an applebees/tgif knock-off. I couldn't have been more wrong. I came here for lunch and dinner within a 2 week span and had fantastic times. Fantastic may be a strong word, but I was expecting bland quesadillas, and mediocre burgers and loud obnoxious music and got so much better. The host and waitstaff here are just way more friendly than you find at chain restaurants. The menu, has your standard bar grub, but there were some decent salads and entrees and even veggie based side dishes. I can vouch for the turkey-avocado wrap and the ribs. Both of these came out to me way better than I expected. Their waffle sweet potato fries are crispy hot and sweet and easily substituted as a side for whatever you happen to order. They have a nice beer list and are open late which is convenient if you are watching a late movie at eastview regal and want to eat afterward. It's a shame this place has such a chain restaurant vibe to it, because it shouldn't be blown off like I did for so long. Can't wait to come back read more

This is an interesting place! Service can be hit or miss - I am sorry to say we actually left once and we were never served. It happens - it is a restaurant in the mall. Foodwise - shrimp tacos are AMAZING! I attended a meeting there recently and these were good - a little bit a spice, a little bit saucy and just good! I would order again. We also had chicken fingers and perfect bowls of fries! Plus the salads look great - the bowls were empty before I could snap a photo! The meeting room is a little loud - but what do you expect from a large open restaurant! Staff is super friendly and can keep 20 credit cards straight! Not wanting to wait 40 mins to eat at PF Chang's we made the mistake of going to Champps for dinner (Sunday night 10/18). 20 minutes to take our order. Chips were cooked in old fryer oil and were over-cooked. Request fir additional salsa fell on deaf ears as our waitress felt it was more important to hang at the bar with some fellas. Please, please don't waste your time dining here. We can only hope Champps too will shut down so that an establishment can move in and appreciate our patronage! read more

The salads at champs are fantastic. I highly recommend the BBQ shrimp salad, which came with tomatoes, an aioli dressing, and tortilla strips, but the classic cobb salad looked delicious as well. read more

We decided to go to Champs the day after Christmas for a "quick" lunch in between returns and shopping the sales. The hostess stand had 3 hostesses who greeted us with smiles and immediately took us to a table towards the back of the restaurant. The restaurant appeared clean, but showed its age. The stairs going up to the higher levels of seating had anti-slip mats with grooves full of food, rust and unappealing bits. Our waiter showed up promptly with a smile and took our drink order. After about ten minutes our drinks were served but the waiter told us he'd be back to take our order after he took the neighboring table's order. The menu apparently had a recent overhaul. We decided on the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer as recommended by the waiter. They were small and not really an appetizer - more like a side dish. We waited another fifteen minutes for our entrees to be delivered. I had the Cobb salad which was beautifully presented and loaded with goodies. The "grilled" chicken tasted pre-prepared, possibly thawed from frozen. The texture just wasn't natural. Overall an ok meal. Not sure it was my favorite place. As I waited too long for my meal and looked out the window I wished I had gone to PF Chang's next door. read more

Following the Yelp algorithm, my wife and I tried Champps tonight for dinner based on its (at the time of our viewing) 4.5-star rating. We only waited 10 minutes to be seated, and our server promptly introduced herself. We received pleasant service and were adequately waited on throughout our meal. Unfortunately, that's where the positive aspects of our experience come to an end. The food was not good - the mozzarella bricks had very noticeably been pre-frozen, and heated only so much as to make the outside warm and the middle still rather cool; the salmon in our salmon kale caesar salad was incredibly overcooked and the greens were not appropriate for a caesar salad, along with being drowned in what tasted like knockoff grocery store brand caesar dressing (it is best not to mention the kale). Our drinks, while tasty, were mostly ice - well beyond what I would normally expect when ordering a cocktail, as well as being different from what we had ordered. Overall, the kind and thoughtful service of our waitress could not make up for the poor food & drink, nor for the dour atmosphere. read more

Stopped here on our way west. Was glad they allowed inside dining. Plenty of tvs for your BF or hubs to watch the games on. Our waitress was polite. The chicken Alfredo was really savory and big, so big I had to ask for a takeout box. Didn't like the sangria - too much strawberry in it for my taste. Ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. It was tasty but really little serving for 2 people. More chips than dip unfortunately. read more

This review is for Steve, who tends bar at Champps. The food is what you'd expect for a chain bar/grill franchise, prices are also what you'd expect. Nothing to write home about, but totally satisfactory. Steve, on the other hand, is a fantastic asset to this restaurant. Attached to Eastview mall, this place can be busy any time of the day. This is my second visit to champps and to say I am dissatisfied with the service would be an understatement. I visited with 2 of my coworkers on our lunch around 1pm. We were seated right away, and the waitress took our drink order immediately (2 waters and a coke) and took 10 minutes alone to bring that out. We were immediately ready to place our order for lunch and it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. One of the orders didn't even have the entire meal. Lastly, we are ready to leave and asked for 1 box. The only reason I am giving two stars, our server Brittani made it right instantly, and was attentive to the food mistakes without us having to complain. It started with a 25 minute wait for our three top, at 230 on a football Sunday. While that in itself is not an issue at all. But, we sat there waiting the 25 minutes. Looking at three empty tables in one section, finally being sat in one of those three. Waited almost 45 minutes for our food to be served, some cold, some with or without substitutions, some over cooked. Had it not been for Brittani, I'd be bashing this restaurant to any, and everyone. I was actually pleasantly surprised by my last visit to Champps. We decided to go head there for the USA World Cup game, and literally every TV in the whole place was showing the game. This created a great atmosphere! There were $2.50 beer specials and $5 app specials on weekdays from 5-7. We got the BBQ chicken flatbread; it was DELICIOUS. The service was great -- attentive, but not pushy ... even when we basically stopped ordering for the second half of the game (gotta drive home, after all). They have a few dishes labeled "Under 650 Calories" -- always helpful! -- and a skinny cocktail or two on their menu, but I didn't give any of these a taste this time. Eastview is a bit of a hike from my place, so I won't head out here for dinner anytime soon ... but I'll definitely think of Champps the next time there's a large group of us who want to watch a sporting event. read more

Went back for the first time in a long time. The place looks the same as far as the bar and dining area, but they have a new menu (at least its new since the last time I've been here). There are still some of the favorites on the menu, but I went for something new tonight - Nashville Hot Chicken. OMG everything about this meal was incredible. Let's start with the sides - a ramekin of dill pickles ... nothing special here, but they were good. Mashed potatoes with pimento and cheese - these were awesome ... the potatoes were creamy with a ton of cheese and although the pimento may sound a bit odd, it pairs well. Then there was the jalapeño cornbread - nice moist cornbread with a touch of spice. Very good The main course - 2 battered and fried chicken breasts with quite a bit of zip! The coating is extra crispy and hot (spicy), while the chicken itself is moist and flavorful. I love hot food and who doesn't like fried chicken! I will definitely order this again. read more

I went out to eat last night and my server was amazing her name was Racheal ! The pretzel bites were bomb( in this case that's a good thing ) . The only thing I wasn't in love with was my main dish. Apparently, a national chain that I've never heard of. They seated our rowdy group of 10 in 10 minutes outside on the patio, and this was with a packed restaurant, so I was already impressed. The menu is long large and has so many options, I debated for over 10 minutes between the Philly Cheesesteak, the Cheeseburger, and the crazy onion rings..............Ended up going for the cheeseburger, and though I expected subpar for a chain restaurant, I was SUPER pleasantly surprised, it was juicy, yummy, and perfectly done. So good, I didn't even finish my fries. Champs is a decent sports bar. For starters, I'm not a fan of chains, but this one is pretty decent. I've been here several times in the past. I feel like I don't really know what to say. Everything is decent, not great, but not bad. Nachos are pretty good. My daughter had the ribs and while they weren't bad, all I kept thinking was why didn't we go to dinosaur bbq (or sticky lips or...) if you wanted ribs on your birthday?? I had a turkey sandwich and it was actually a lot better than I expected. Thick gourmet bread, lots of turkey, thick bacon, avocado, cheese. Very fresh tasting. What I loved (and apparently everyone loved as there were multiple hands stealing them from my plate) were the freshly made thick cut potato chips. Those are very good. I've had decent tuna melts here, the chicken tenders are excellent, the wings are fair (I love it when a chain comes to western NY and sells wings). This isn't my favorite place but it's dependable and if there's a game on, you can see it on every wall. TONS of TVs. Like I said, it's decent for a chain. read more

I really enjoy Champps when we go. The pasta dish I always get, which is the Vodka Farfalle dish, I continuously and always look forward to getting. The service is fast, efficient, and kind. The prices are fair and the portions are large. I can never finish my dish. The salads are HUGE. My go-to place when I want/need a quick bite to eat! Stopped by today with my daughter ( we were famished). While I sent her to restroom to wash up , the waiter stopped by with menus. I ordered drinks and an order of "mile high nachos" and a side of French fries ( keeping it healthy today). Our food was on the table in less than 10 minutes! Nachos, as always , were perfectly cheesy with chopped tomatoes, scallions, and red pepper ( I think). We also had sour cream/ guacamole (meh) and salsa on the side. Huge portion to split Fries were lousy. Overly salted and served in a large bowl that they barely covered the bottom of the bowl.... Occasionally I slum it and Champps (yes, with two P's - doesn't anyone here pay attention or is this site littered with those who learned to spell phonetically), is not a bad place to slum it. Always packed on a weekend, it's usually very loud and filled with screaming kids in the restaurant and equally loud people at the bar. The food is good. Nothing spectacular, but things like hte fisn and chips and their chicken are solid. I have on occasion tried the mile high pie which is entirely too much food though I've eaten it all on several occasions. My wife has poured ketchup on it in the past though you can eat around it. She finally found that salt does the trick. I no longer order the pie. Surprisingly, they don't have a bad breakfast/brunch so if you're heading to the mall on a Sunday, stop in. It's never crowded and a nice quiet place to grab a quick bite before shopping. read more

Last night I was in Champps, Victor with my family. Our food was delicious! It took a little while for it to come out but it was Saturday night. When it did it was great! We were extremely disheartened to witness one of the male employees yell at and berate a younger female employee several times in front of what appeared to be her customers and again at the computer near where we were sitting. He was extremely unprofessional even using profanity at her. When she tried to defend herself he yelled at her more not to raise her voice at him. Neither were our server but the young girl dropped off our food with our server and was so sweet. She seemed to work well with our server. read more

I go back and forth on Champps because they change their menu frequently it seems. We usually go for happy hour and sit at the bar. 1/2 price apps are great--flatbread is yummy. Bartenders are always friendly and give good service. Good variety of beers and they carry local brews as well. Recently started flights. read more

Ate dinner at Champps tonight with my daughter. We never saw our waitress after she took our order Until it was time for her to hand us the bill!! Ridiculous! The hostess kept seating people in her section even though she already had 5 tables. The hostess sat 3 new tables within minutes of us sitting down. Two other tables had to ask another waitress to correct their meals because our waitress was MIA. Halfway through my meal, my glass was empty. Champps has always been our restaurant to eat at, but in the last two years the service and food have really gone down. I am wondering if it's under new management and new chefs. read more

Service here can be hit or miss. This past weekend (not during a peak meal time) I came with a group of 7 (3 of which were kids). They had a difficult time seating us, they said the wait would be 10/15 mins...25 mins later after seating numerous parties that came in after we were seated. They just needed to put 2 tables together to seat us all but they couldn't do that because they kept seating people at those tables. So after waiting (mind you we were the only party told to wait) they seated us and we asked to put our food order in with our drink order (3 hangry kids) our waitress laughed and said the kitchen was already behind... she laughed like it was a joke that we would have to wait longer. Then she put part of our order in wrong.... as far as food goes mine was okay, I got dessert because I already had lunch at home. I ordered the cookie with caramel ice cream, I like desserts I generally don't describe stuff as too sweet but this was too sweet. My sister ordered the burger which was overcooked and she had to ask several times for condiments and extra silverware. I have come here before as a group of 2 and not had issues, but I have also gotten bad food as a group of 2 so i really think it's hit or miss. The biggest difference is I usually don't have problems when it's the middle of the week lunch time. Maybe avoid the place on the weekend. read more

Retirement get together in their closed off back room. The atmosphere in the half full general dinning area was still loud enough that it made addressing our group possible while yelling. Overall service was good, there was about a ten minute lag between the first round of dishes coming out and the last, with the exception of one person who had to wait an unfortunate amount of time. This sports joint is a great example of the kind of place WNY needs more of to accommodate our sports fans! Huge portions, a good selection, and fresh and tasty food... but the atmosphere is what tops this place off with the 5th star! TVs everywhere, seating arranged so there isn't a bad spot, and an understanding that people are there for the game (whatever "game" might mean that night). Last time we were there, there was sports trivia going on in between the Thursday Night NFL commercials which was effective in both keeping us entertained between plays and keeping us drinking and in the restaurant. I like Champs a lot and visit often when I'm in the area. Would love to have one in Buffalo! :-) read more
