I would give it more of a 3.5. The service is always very nice and attentive. The first time I came I had gotten ice cream cake on the house. It was a pretty big piece with about 5 layers. My wife and I went to Champp's for my cousins birthday party. We sat in the private room which was nice for this particular occasion. I was pleasantly surprised by very good service, a nice atmosphere and a very good entree. I've avoided this place and all places chain, but when you're at Eastview Mall this is a solid choice. You can read my review of The Distillery across the road. Champp's is much better. For starters we ordered the Queso, salsa and chips that we shared with the table. It was about what you'd expect from a place like this. It was probably poured out of a can. The cheese was rather bland, the salsa saved it with the spicy heat, and the chips were crispy and fresh. I think they could put a little more effort into this dish by sprinkling a little chihuahua or using Monterey Jack. Also offer chorizo for an up charge. I bet it would sell well. Kids would love it the way it is but if you've ever had really good qeuso, I'd skip this one. My wife and I both ordered seared rare Ahi fish tacos. Three came with an order with a good amount of rare tuna. The sauce was creamy yet spicy and the salsa that came with it also had a nice kick to it. I'm a heat freak and was surprised at how spicy hot this dish was. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. That's about it. If at the mall and hungry, I'd probably eat here again. Great place for a quick bite to eat and to watch a game. I'm never disappointed with my food and was ecstatic when the chipotle burger came back on the menu. I visit this place a few times a month. I would always suggest well any thing, you won't be disappointed. As far as service goes if its hectic busy the server is most likely serving a lot of tables. We had a large party of 15 and reserved the back party room. Our server was forgetful and inexperienced. Our food was marginal at best. The burgers we ordered medium rare came medium well and were dry. The pretzel bites were inedible and we had to return them. Our waitress said that this happens a lot. Another issue was that we told our waitress that we were waiting for our son to arrive, which he did shortly after we ordered our entrees. Couple months ago came for one of my 34th birthday celebrations and stuff all on Monday, December 3rd 2018. That day I remembered getting prime rib quesadilla as starter and then Baby Back ribs as main course and all part of one of my 34th birthday meals. Then the past couple of weeks I've been dropping by just to kind of hang out and grab little bite to eat. Both last weekend and again this weekend I ended up sitting over at bar area. Last week I ended up getting the Dilemma chicken sandwich with fried egg topping it all off. I thought that it was all pretty darn great for sure. Then this week ended up getting and trying the Wagyu Burger, which in my book I definitely thought was all great for sure!! As far as service and staffing all goes at Champps, my favorite staff members currently at Champps so far are TJ, Steve, Matt, Chris, Bianca, Casey, Talisa, and Delaney for sure!! Yesterday when I ended up dropping by at Champps, I was very very happy to see Chris, Casey, Talisa, Bianca, and Delaney for sure!! All definitely do everything to have customers including myself leaving the place ready to come back again soon for sure!! Chris in my book definitely inspired customers like myself to keep on coming back on a continuous basis for sure!! Delaney in my book is one of the most kind waitresses and servers currently at Champps and definitely one of the best to have interactions with for sure and in my book, definitely to me has got such a great great heart for sure, and most definitely also another that really really inspires customers like myself to keep on coming back on a continuous basis for sure as well!! Such a disappointing experience tonight. We arrived with our four kids and were surprised to see that the place was relatively dead. Nevertheless, we were seated in one area where the server was busy with multiple tables so it was a long time before he was able to get to us and take our order. He thanked us for our patience, but drinks were slow and food was even slower. Even though menu items are marked if they are gluten friendly the staff was unsure about certain sauces, which makes a big difference in a meal. The food was mediocre at best with garlic mashed potatoes that have clearly sat around for awhile and items being overcooked / lacking flavor. Bottom line- slow service, poor quality food for a high price. Just not worth it. read more

It was a last minute decision to come to Champps since the wait time was less than an hour compared to every other child-friendly place in the area. Now I understand why. Our meals were regrettable but not main reason I am posting here today. I get that it's a chain, my expectations were not high. But my true complaint was the service. A young man named Dan was our server. He took our drink order and after asking my 3.5 year old what drink he wanted (plain milk) he forgot it. Ok, not a huge deal we reminded him and he brought out his milk after a few minutes. Then after quite a stretch (about 12 min) he came around for our food order. He asked my son what he wanted and my son said MAC and cheese with Broccoli. He interacted with him about the broccoli so we know he heard him. When all our dishes came out, my sons was nowhere to be seen. He then comes back asking if we need anything else and I had to stop him as he was making a b-line to another table to ask about my sons food. This took him by surprise so he proceeded to talk to the kitchen, I see the exchange and he comes back and tells us the kitchen screwed up and never made his order. Ok; strike 1 - forgot my sons milk, strike 2 - forgot to bring my sons food, strike 3 lied about my sons food being forgot by the kitchen. If the "kitchen" was as fault, you wouldn't have brought out our dishes without my sons or without explanation, you forgot buddy and tried to blame the kitchen. Take ownership dude. As for the food, I ordered the ahi tuna tacos which has a habanero dressing on top of the tuna which rested on a bed of cilantro. I'm actually a fan of spicy food, but I don't think it's appropriate for a mild fish like tuna. I couldn't taste the fish at all, as it completely overpowered the rest of the dish. My chips were also regrettable since they looked like the crumbs found at the bottom of the bag. I left the last taco of the 3 on my plate untouched and after I declined a box, my waited took my taco and offered it to the rest of the table as a joke. Ba-dum bum....I wouldn't come back, not even as a last resort. As for the waiter, he didn't charge us for the Mac and cheese...but I'm guessing because he never put it on the bill. However, that really failed to make up for his incompetence to make sure the child is taken care of before the parents, not forgotten about. read more

Went here for a dinner party and the food was good, but the waitress took 15+ minutes to bring me my Sprite. Also, the plates were very clearly not washed at all, and were COVERED in sauce and fingerprints. We didn't want to cause a scene so we just put napkins over the plates and ate off the napkins. We felt forced to use silverware because of the fancy occasion, but I'm super grossed out thinking about how unwashed those were as well. read more

The six person tables are disgusting. Table tops are cut up or just plain rotten. Your arms stick to the table and they look bad. The surface is rough. We went tonight to celebrate one of our coworkers who was leaving us it was a disappointment all around due to the waitress not given us napkins or silverware when we received our starter and having to wait forever for drinks and our food which all of our dinners were cold when we did receive it. Our waitress I have no idea what planet she was on but it was the worst service I have ever had in my entire life.A lot of us have worked in this industry And we would never ever treated guests like this. I am not going to lie.... I eat here because of my kids. On Tuesays the eat free... not only that they play Disney Movies and do face painting... The Magic Guy comes and does tricks at your table and blows up balloon animals! All this while you are eating and the kids eat free! Now how can you beat that? I get to eat my veggie burger loaded with onion straws and bbq sauce with a beer, the kids watch movies and get balloon animals. How is this NOT a win all the way around? I love this place... This place is the typical @ mall sports bar and grill. Reminds me of BJ's. We were greeted after a few minutes and seated soon after. Our waiter started out being very pleasant and I asked him if after everything was done if we could get a birthday ice cream because my little girl just turned 5. He said yes and we ordered our food. We split a typical grilled cheese and fries for the girls and my wife and I got a burger and fries. The burger was good, not great but good. The fries were practically cold and we just dealt with it. The waiter came by once to fill our drinks and then we never saw him again. We never received the ice cream for my daughter. She was upset but we took care of that later. We been here a few times before, but this Tuesday we decided to stop for dinner on a whim. We walked in and were surprised it was so busy for a Tuesday--but they were still able to seat us right away. As we sat down to order, the waitress asked "so have you been here for kids eat free night before?" My husband and I met eyes and exclaim at the same time "It's kids eat free night?" Suddenly I look around and notice that the place is full of kids, there is a Pixar movie on the big screens, and magician walking around making balloon animals. With a three year old in tow, would couldn't have been more happily surprised. The waitress also told us there was face painting available. I came here with a friend for a leisurely holiday lunch before heading into the mall. The service was extremely slow and for no obvious reason. The food was OK. Had the mega pretzel, very good. The server forgot to leave the blue cheese off my salad entree. She also failed to clean off or bus the table at all so we had our app, lunch plates, and dirty soda glasses left on the table for the duration of the meal. We were really disappointed in how slow the service was and how long we were left waiting. This location has long been a family favorite- worth the inevitable wait. This time - on a Friday night - I was told 15 minutes for a group of 7. Amazing until it was not. From the 20 minutes to correct a drink order to the "instant" coffee to the refrigerator-taste dessert, the experience was mediocre at best. With a 2 and a 10 year old we had to request a children's menu and once we did, the waitress brought just 1. Early evening and they were out of some of their side dishes. The blasting sound- a play by play of one of the local college games - made the table conversation a shouting match. Service was sluggish considering so few people were in the place. We eat at Champps often, mostly for lunch. IMy husband and son are big sports fans and the employees are happy to accommodate if there is a particular game you'd like to see on a certain screen by your table. I'm usually not a big fan of chain restaurants but Champps food is fresh and consistent and they have a good menu with some healthier options. Love their wraps and salads. We've gotten to know many of the servers and they are all friendly and accommodating. We do tend to avoid it on weekend evenings since it can get very crowded and loud due to the fact that it's located at the main mall entrance. On nice days we like to eat at their outdoor patio. The only negative I can think of is that their hostesses leave a little to be desired. When leaving, I don't ever remember one saying "thank you" or "have a nice day" and this is when it's not busy. read more

Both my food and my wife's food were poorly prepared and poorly presented. I had a half sandwich of turkey and soup. The advacado in the sandwhich was brown which did not seem to impress the manager, as he could have cared less. My wife's lettuce wedge was yellow brown. Soccer fans not welcome! I just moved to the Rochester area and was looking for a place to watch the European Championship game today. I called ahead and they told me to come early and they'll show the match on the big screen. But when I got there two hours before the game, they said another party was watching baseball on the big screen. Okay, no problem. They re-seated me to another table where I could watch the soccer match. But the manager refused to turn on the sound, and then told me that he doesn't like soccer and no one else does either. What? This guy runs a sports bar? At the end of the match, the manager came back to say my friend and I were being too loud and another table had complained. Frankly, there was no other table anywhere near to us, and who comes to a sports bar if they can't handle a little cheering? So, yeah, I was pretty mad.
