went to lunch on Sunday with a friend and her husband. she ordered the chicken liver plate and he got the catfish, while i ordered the cajun grilled chicken sandwich without the cajun mayo. the piece of chicken liver i had was very crispy and had a great flavor. i also tried a corner of her husband's catfish and while the meat was minimal the flavor was there too. i also really enjoyed my chicken sandwich! very juicy and had a great grilled taste. our waitress was super friendly and joked with us a bit, and kept our drinks filled the entire meal. i would definitely come back if only to get the chicken liver plate! read more

I had higher hopes. Reasonable prices decide seems appropriate for Florida, but maybe that's what they are going for. Food tastes good, but something did not agree with me. I had stomachs issues about two hours later. I think it was the greasy hashbrown casserole, but can't be sure. Chicken biscuit was ok. Chicken was a little dry and tough. Biscuit was very good. We used to really like coming to this location in Cleveland when it first opened. Unfortunately , lately it seems like the bar area is overrun with high school kids. They use the remote for the music and constantly change stations. The last time we were there they had turned the music up to what I assume was the highest setting. There was a speaker right above our table. We asked our waitress what was going on and she even commented on how loud the music was. She went to the bartender and they couldn't find the remote to turn it down. So instead of ordering any food we paid for our drinks and left. Champy's is always my GO TO in Cleveland, TN. The staff is great, and they have good communication with one another. My food is always hot and fresh and the recipes & sizes are consistent. I like the single serving size containers for sides so nothing is wasted. My faves are the fried chicken dinner, or salad with chicken. I love to sit on the patio side when the doors are open. You get the best customer service experiences of any place you think of to visit right here at Champys in East Tennessee. You also get the best food of any place out there that I know of. Yes, this is by far my favorite restaurant to go to. It also has one of the best bars here town. In fact, this is the only bar I would go to here in town. As soon as I came in, I was met by a smiling face who seats me immediately. Then, I am met again by another smiling face who was my server for my visit. I got their hot tamales plate for my first visit. It was all delicious as always. My waitress was nice and friendly and took care of me. Crackers and cole slaw came with my meal which made it even better. The sweet tea was great too. The bathrooms are really nice and clean with soap and paper towels and new sinks. Of course everything is new , so everything would be clean. For my second visit, I sat up stairs in the bar area. I had to walk up stairs which is located outside on the back or side of restaurant. However, this time I just got their fried green tomatoes. This was a first for me as I usually get their fried chicken plate, hot tamale plate or fried catfish plate. I have been in dining room as a customer, also a takeout customer, and additionally a delivery driver. And dining, has always been good. Take out, always has less quality food, missing ingredients, or condiments, and extremely late. Also, some of the takeout employees are extremely rude. The first couple encounters I just considered their rudeness to be associated with the fact that they are all very young. But I have seen consistency over and over of several rude employees. It has actually been a bit shocking from time to time. I personally will no longer order takeout from there and May not done at this location again. Chattanooga has always been excellent so maybe Cleveland is just in the middle of a learning curve. read more

My poor sister in law already struggles on a daily basis with the inability to eat much... she has health problems that prevent her from having a lot of things, so when we came here for a birthday dinner, and she got a grilled chicken salad and only got lettuce and a boiled egg on it with the grilled chicken. No seasoning. First time ? An accident. Second time? You bring it out and say "I told them no seasoning but they seasoned it anyways" at that point ? What the actual fuck? So. It's a shame to write this poor review, but the chicken is probably the worst I've eaten. We ordered buffalo wings, spicy chicken sandwiches with fries, and sweet teas. The positives: the building is interesting and fun and appeared clean. Kassidy, our server, was very sweet and engaging. She checked on us regularly and is the only reason I'm giving a star and she is the brightest point of the meal. Oh, the sweet tea was very good. The negatives: I'm on a lower sodium diet and requested no added salt to my fries which was denied by the kitchen staff. Though the request was made an hour before closing, the kitchen staff said they were done making fries for the night which was fairly obvious via the hardly warm fries we received. The Buffalo wings were inedible as they were rubbery. We are wing connoisseurs and have never had rubbery wings. Unsure what happened there, but don't recommend them. The chicken sandwiches weren't spicy and worst, were flavorless. Literally, no flavor. We had a few bites out of the sandwiches, ate most of the fries and called it a day. This meal was $50.00+ and we left hungry. The desserts looked good but by this time we didn't trust that they'd be any better and passed. We did communicate with Kassidy (new server) the condition of the food. She apologized but never offered to replace it and honestly I think we would've declined anyway. The menu offerings are fairly small. We were so excited to dine at Champy's and were totally disappointed. We appreciate Kassidy though and really enjoyed interacting with her! If you want to try this place out, ask for Kassidy. I don't recommend it though. If nothing more her charm, charisma, and attentiveness will be a highlight to your day. read more

I would rate the food as a four star but my server Hannah was so good I can't help but rate the overall experience as a five star. She was on top of her game with great recommendations and fast, friendly service. I started with the Chicken Salad appetizer and it was terrific! It set a great start to the meal and ended up being the star of the show for me. It was a large portion, I have plenty of leftovers for later! My meal was the fried chicken of course. It was very crispy yet juicy inside so the cook was perfect. To my taste it could have used more herbs but I gobbled it right down anyway. For sides I had the Mashed Potatoes and Gravy as well as the Mac and Cheese. Both tasted great, definitely one step beyond the fast food chicken places on taste. Although, like other Yelpers, I found the portion sizes of the sides to be less than appealing. Maybe it is an optical illusion, but the servings in small plastic souffle cups left the impression of corners cut and left me wanting more. Well, food and service rocked but the management decided to allow a large maybe white retriever to sit at the bar with its owner supposedly restraining it. My "itty-bitty " grand was nearly knocked over when the dog was released as I took her to the restroom. The health department would have a field day with the amount of dog hair flying in customers food. I realize the atmosphere is relaxed, but this is beyond okay. The Cleveland location has strayed badly from Champy's recipes. The cole slaw was swimming in dressing -like 75% liquid, very little cabbage in it. The baked beans tasted straight out of a can, no salt, no brown sugar, no flavor! I am a longstanding customer of the MLK location and I know how this food is supposed to taste. I cannot recommend this one in Cleveland. Over cooked all the chicken and livers, Tamales were either old or cold I don't know. I did mention this to the acting manager after the payment. You can't go wrong with Champy's. They have delicious Delta hot tamales, fried chicken, and my favorite the Delta Catfish. Being from the Mississippi Delta, I love this food. Service is always great and the food usually comes very fast. Be ware if they have someone playing music and singing, you will not be able to hear yourself think. Well the chicken I got tasted like catfish. The fries even had a catfish like taste the mashed potatoes and gravy was in a very small side cup which I will leave a photo so you can see the sausage and pickles and cheese sides that I had was very good but it was very irritating to be in a place, that sells alcohol and have all the stuff advertised for there to be a screaming child in there so that was more upsetting trying to eat my food with a screaming kid. They should've not brought their kid or they should've been asked to leave so that's why I'm giving them a low rating that and chicken should taste like chicken not catfish. Asked to be seated on a shady patio-we we're seated on the afternoon sunset side. Waited about 10 minutes for a waitress; after she brought our drinks, then waited another 35-40 minutes for our food. Even asked her at one point to check on it for us. After runner delivered our food, our waitress never checked on us-NEVER! So I let the hostess desk know that our server had abandoned us and could she please get our ticket as we were done. Of course THEN our server visits our table to apologize and explain how busy her section had become. I told her that we had run out of beverages and patience and thanked her for her weak excuses. She offers to-go drinks at that point, but why bother. In case you're wondering the bill was over $38 and I DID foolishly leave her a small (less than 10%) tip. That location is off of my preferred list and that's a shame considering we frequent Cleveland for shopping and dining. read more

This place is just waaayyy overpriced. My son and I got 3 lbs of wings. While the flavor of the chicken was good (we got smoked) they tasted like they were doused in a bucket of Franks Hot sauce.
