My first time trying the Chancery! My husband and I both had the BBQ bacon burger! Very tasty but very saucy! I had mine with sweet potato fries! My favorite item though was the cheese curds! Food is very decent all around. Been here multiple times and it will do if nothing else is open (like on a Monday). But the food always takes forever to come out, and if you eat in the dining room instead of the bar the service is super slow. I got the Greek Pita with side of veggies this time and tried some of the jambalaya as well. The Greek pita really didn't have any flavor to it, however the green beans were actually pretty solid. Food was good. I had fish fry which is available every day. There tartar sauce was not very sweet and i prefer a sweeter sauce over a dill tasting sauce. I love their coleslaw which has dried cranberries in it. The bloody mary with deviled eggs was great. Server was trying but screwed up more than once including forgetting to bring soup that was ordered to the table. He apologized for his mistakes but still have to ding him for messing up more than once. I think many people don't realize the Chancery still exists. The other locations around Milwaukee and Waukesha and Wauwatosa closed up and people think the chain was gone. It wasn't till about 6 months ago that i became aware that the mequon location was up and running. So if you were a Chancery fan you should head over to Mequon. Building is nice outside and inside. I honestly was a bit disappointed with my visit here. As a long time fan of the chancery, I was bummed with all their closer locations to me closing. Since I was in Mequon, I decided I had to stop here for dinner. I've always loved the Zak's three cheese macaroni. I may have overhyped it because I felt like it was just ok. Okay so I am a soup girl, I liked the chicken dumpling from this place. It had chunks of dumplings that where delicious. I recommend for sure. Popular spot on a Friday night. They have an all you can eat fish fry but we didn't go for it. Instead, we ordered a bunch of random appetizers. Our favorite were the Latin rolls and the artichoke dip. The artichoke dip was sooo garlicky and the bread it was served with was softer than a pillow. Not as good as they used to be. Service is okay many times but sometimes not. Usually host/hostess have been unimpressive. Food is okay. Has been better in the past. Maybe that is why they are down to one location. Now they charge if you want a side of Mayo for your fries. They should then be charging for ketchup but they don't. If they are going to charge for one condiment they should charge for all as some people can't have certain foods (tomato based) without a reaction and shouldn't be penalized for it. I have mixed feelings about this place. It has some positive, and some negative. When we got there we were told the wait was a half hour. It ended up being about 45 minutes which with a 2 year old isn't easy. I get it's busy, it's Friday but most places you go to are more accurate with the time. Not a huge deal but a little bit of a turn off. We finally get to our table and our waitress was awesome. Very friendly, checked in is often, polite and attentive. The food also took some time to come out maybe a half hour. Again, I know it's busy but that is still longer wait then desired. The place is clean, neat, decorations and environment are nice. They crammed a lot of tables into one small area so it felt a little crowded. Maybe opening it up a bit to make everyone not feel so close together. The food was really good though. Average restaurant with great happy hours! Pre covid this was our go to spot for happy hours, they are the only restaurant I know of that has daily HH (yes, even on the weekends!) 3-6 pm with many drink specials AND 1/2 off appetizers. Available in bar only, long list of appetizers so you can easily make it a meal. One downside is their tables in the bar are small with maximum of 4 people (which is a tight squeeze) but the bar is large and has multiple TVs. Servers are always friendly and helpful and their taps rotate frequently. I can't wait to go back once covid calms down. Their food is average, so I wouldn't frequent it if it weren't for the HH. This is my go to Sunday Afternoon Lunch Spot. The menu is diverse from a few Breakfast items to Brick Oven Pizza. By far, my most favorite Sunday Choice is the Friday Chicken Special. The food is piping hot and the sides are fantastic. I love the Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans that accompany the wonderfully seasoned Fried Chicken. I don't eat the entire meal in one setting so I enjoy seconds on Monday evening. It's just as good the second day. My Sisters enjoy the Veggie Burgers and Onion Rings. There are all ages of diners and the Bar is quite busy on Game Day. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy this place. If you're looking for someplace like home, give them a visit. read more

The thing that caught my eye about this place was it's appearance of a hunting lodge. I loved the welcoming feel as well as the hospitality of the employees. After traveling all morning, nothing sounded better than a juicy burger and boy did it hit the spot. I chose mine served with waffle fries and oh by the way, that's not mayo on the burger, it's a garlic spread. I ordered a medium burger, I received a medium burger. The bun was a grilled brioche that stood tall and easily mashed to create the perfect vehicle to devour this massive burger topped with perfectly cooked bacon. The food was decent ($6 nachos and they were huge) and the bartender was really good. The decor is an attempt at rustic which is fine except it is in a strip mall and you can't really forget that. By the looks of the walls, they have a myriad of different specials ranging from weekly (unlimited shrimp on Mondays as an example) to game day specific ($3 burgers, $6 nachos, and drink specials). But the rest of the clientele really put a damper on the experience. Loudmouths watching football and yelling at even the commercials were the least irritating. Even the families with small children who were allowed to roam like a herd of goats weren't the most irritating. It was the people who kept just wandering around and bumping into other people as though they were seeking some sort of Holy Grail of table. They were positively bovine in their habits. Walk two or three steps, bump into a patron with no apology, pet a table longingly, then stop in the lane of traffic so no one can get around them while looking bemused. And then they would repeat the process. This happened repeatedly during our time here. Before anyone takes offense and accuses me of making fun of one type of person, I have to make it clear--there were multiple people who were not in the same group of patrons doing this. They were from various demographics--men, women, elderly, middle-aged, 20's. It was seriously taking clueless behavior to a whole new level. It detracted from what would have been a pleasant experience. The Cajun Bloody Mary is worth the $7.5 price tag. It's spicy in a good way with good overall flavor. read more

Our waitress recommended it and more than half the table ordered it, so I figured it was a safe bet. It took quite a while to come out-- we were warned that would be the case. It was solidly good fried chicken, but nothing exceptional. Came with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy that tasted fresh and well seasoned, and cole slaw that was oddly sweet. Might have knocked them down to three stars but I also tried the vanilla bean dessert and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was only $4.
