We never cook the night before Thanksgiving, so we find a fun, new spot to check out to give the kitchen a break! The Olde Cedar Inn was this year's spot! Plenty of parking in the lot attached to this spot! The interior is small, but very nicely done! It was VERY festive for the holiday season! I understand it was the night before a holiday, but they were definitely understaffed. The three staff members (2 servers and a bartender) were, at times, sprinting through the restaurant to keep everyone happy! They did it with a smile too! Kudos to them, but management should help them out with additional staff on busy days. (We had a reservation for 10 people, they knew it was going to be busy). The food and drinks were alright...the Brandy Old Fashioneds weren't very boozy and the fish fry, while cooked well, didn't have any special flavor. We also waited almost an hour for our appetizers: cheese curds, calamari fries, and zucchini blossoms. I will say that the broasted chicken looked very good, but I didn't have any! Had a group of ten people for a 75th birthday for my spouse. Had reservations at 5 and the waiter was ready to take drink and dinner orders. All the adults order's ribeyes and were done to perfection. The entire staff were friendly and quick to resupply cocktails. Some of my most memorable meals have been had in a little side of the road joint that I wouldn't expect to make a lasting impression and Olde Cedar Inn did not disappoint. It is a smaller place and you do feel cramped at the tables. I actually had to move so the waitress could get to the table behind us. We had a reservation so we were able to get seated right away which was a plus! Just plan ahead for that! The prime rib was delicious and, well, pretty prefect! I have wanted to go back for more since we had it! The side salad was standard and the twice baked potato was good enough, but that prime rib keeps people coming back! The fish was on the drier side in my opinion, but the breading was good and it was not soggy. My son ordered the ribeye which was prepared as requested and was very juicy! We would order the prime rib and steak here again! We finished the meal off with a grasshopper because, why not!?!? Yummy little treat not always offered by restaurants anymore. Adorable spot, nicely decorated for the holidays. We arrived at 3pm and were the only ones in the seating area. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Got the AYCE shrimp and broasted chicken with their "oven browns" which were underwhelming. First time here on 3/22/25. Was so looking forward to a great steak dinner. Boy BIG MISTAKE! The homemade soup was thick and hardy but no flavor, may I suggest some seasoning! We ordered the Ribeye and shrimp combo. The shrimp arrived hot and fresh. I must say that was the best thing of the dinner. The steak was awful! Mostly fat and tendons? very little meat. Although cooked as ordered had a weird flavor. I personally think it was old and a bit off. Both my husband and I did not even finish 1/4 of the steak. With prices that high quality and flavor is not too much to ask. The twice baked potato was obviously instant with some cheese mixed in. Will not be back and do not recommend. read more

Went for dinner with friends. It had been highly recommended. Small place but we had a reservation and got seated quickly. I had a steak but it had a fair amount of fat and gristle. They don't have good steaks like new york which i prefer due to less fat and gristle. The steak was ok. Our friends ate sandwiches and i think they thought they were pretty good. Portion sizes were good. But i don't think any of the 4 of us are planning a return visit. My usual go to for an all you can eat fish fry on Fridays is currently closed for lunch due to cutting hours for the current COVID-19 pandemic, so that led me to seeking out a different place for lunch on a Friday off from work. When I pulled up to Olde Cedar Inn I realized I had been here before, but could only remember that I didn't particularly love whatever meal/experience I had at that time. Regardless, I stayed and ended up having the all you can eat haddock with french fries. There's only one restaurant I've ever been to that has decent crinkle cut french fries (coincidentally that's the restaurant I mentioned above that's currently closed during lunch). Olde Cedar Inn is just another one on the list of bad crinkle cut french fries. Yes, they were cooked fine. No, they had no flavor at all. I'm so thankful that there was ketchup on the table because, even though I'm not normally a ketchup person, it was needed. There were other potato options available when I ordered, but unfortunately potato pancakes was not one of them and I regret not choosing anything else. This alone cost them a star on my rating. The breading on the haddock was certainly crispy. Unfortunately, it also absorbed much of the oil that it was cooked in so the plate was a bit greasy. I was also surprised at just how much the breading overpowered the flavor of the haddock, which isn't a unflavorful fish. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. Nothing was done to distance customers and neither of the two staff members I saw were wearing masks at any point during my visit. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I don't care if you don't want to wear a mask to protect yourself during the current COVID-19 pandemic. That you won't wear one to help protect your customers or try to seat customers apart from each other is flat out irresponsible. The place was fairly empty when I got there, but as my meal progressed more people came in and the staff was constantly trying to sit customers at tables right next to each other instead of intentionally spreading them out. Now that I'm leaving a review I have a reminder as to why I've decided to not go back. Hopefully you will avoid Olde Cedar Inn as well. read more

We had a reservation on 6/2 for 11 people. Got seated promptly and got our sodas/coffee and ordered. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. Many people that arrived after us got their meal and left before we were even served. No explanation no "I'm sorry". Very difficult with several elderly and two young children. I had been hearing that it was hit or miss here but I see no evidence of any real miss. This is a small, no frills but charming, spot (The bar area is a bit more festive with some great outdoorsy decor). We stopped in mid-week for lunch. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and it was delicious; juicy and cooked to a perfect temp medium. Two of my lunch mates order different chicken wraps (one grilled and the other breaded) - they both really liked them. You can get homemade chips or, hello...Krinkle Fries! Krinkle Fries are never wrong. Never. Another in our party, ordered a Taco Salad. It was the one thing we found a little different...typically Taco Salad is served in a fried tortilla bowl. This order came out on a bed of tortilla chips. I'll quote him: "I mean, I ordered a salad and got nachos but okay...nachos are cool." We weren't sure if this is always how it's prepared or if it was improvised and the taco meat, itself was delicious, but the overall presentation and lack of additional toppings you would want on either a salad or nachos was noticeable. Service was fine. Although a little slow- it was slow because our server was doing everything- front of house: bartending, waitressing, hosting and checking people in/out, etc. Seeing her hustle and still smile and treat people warmly - made any of our impatience subside. We've been going here for years and the food is consistently delicious and the service is always friendly. We love their wings, fish fry, ribs and burgers. Stopped late on a Sunday afternoon. It's not just a tavern and but not quite a restaurant...it's an inn. Nice bar and 11 tables. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. My wife ordered the broasted chicken. She reports the chicken was crispy and moist. Could use just a bit more seasoning in the batter, but other than that it was delicious. Unless you are really hungry, order the 4 piece dinner and skip on the all you can it. I had the gourmet burger. Really really good. Ordered it medium rare and that's what I got. A few other things we learned talking with locals...the Friday Fish is very popular. Wednesday pasta night is also big. Went here for a Friday fish fry and we were really disappointed. The wait was over an hour and a half - we were expecting something over an hour but not that long. It could have been cut down to about an hour but a table of four that was finished sat for an extra 45 minutes taking. They knew people were waiting but apparently didn't care and no one from the restaurant stepped in to offer them seats in the bar or another alternative. Our food was mediocre and definitely not worth the wait. The cole slaw was terrible and the perch was bland. The baked cod was cooked well but also under seasoned. First of all, I really like this little hole in the wall joint. The Old Fashion's are terrific, it's a lively place and the entire staff is there to make the crowd happy. The fish fry and chicken are ace. However, we were referred to them for the "smelt" fry on WED's and although the flavor was okay, the light-battered platters of fish were mediocre as far as actual "fish size" go. In other words, the smelt were mostly very flat, limited on fish meat itself, hard deep-fried crunchy bits. The food is fabulous ! I dine in once a week either a Friday or Saturday evening. The Friday night fish fry's are terrific with very generous portions. The Saturday night Prime rib is great as well. If you are a lighter eater the small is perfect. If you are a normal eater the medium is good for you. If you like to take some home then get the large. The large is so big and thick there will be enough to eat tomorrow. The waitresses are very helpful and care about their customers. read more
