I went to Zarletti's Mequon for our staff holiday party and had a great experience. We had the entire second level, which offered plenty of seating, a nicely set-up buffet, and a bar with 2-3 bartenders working at a time. Even though it was a cash bar, the bartenders did a great job keeping drinks moving and getting everyone served quickly. The buffet had an excellent variety of food, including fresh fruit and veggies, caprese skewers, spinach dip with warm pita bread, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, fried lobster ravioli, meatball sliders, and pizza. Overall, the food was amazing and a big hit with our group. Our table tried to decide which item was our favorite and everyone had different answers because it was all good! The only item not loved was the fried lobster ravioli. It wasn't as crispy as I expected, but everything else more than made up for it. Great space for a large group, delicious food, and solid service. I hope we have our holiday party at Zarletti's next year! read more

We had a work event at Zarletti's Mequon location in the private room and it was fabulous! The room was upstairs - very cute and cozy. The food was AMAZING! We couldn't stop talking about the delicious artichoke dip, pita bread, pizza, and caprese skewers. I got no photos of the food because it was gone too quickly! The service was also great with friendly bartenders and lovely servers working quickly to keep our tables clean. I had put on the reservation comments it was my dad's birthday. I even told "the birthday boy" to order first in front of the server. The waitress Kristan never once said happy birthday or attempted to make a comment about it being his birthday. Being a former waitress I find this extremely disrespectful. DRINKS: We ordered gin and tonic, a brut rose, and 2 beers to start. All good drinks. FOOD: My dad ordered red snapper which was a special. For $40, it should have came with soup or salad, a potato, and a vegetable. It only came with mashed potatoes OR vegetables. For how expensive it is, I find this ridiculous. Everyone else ordered the lobster ravioli which was good, but should also come with a soup or salad for $30. DESSERT: The tiramisu and cheesecake were each $8.00 and the best part of the meal. This place has a parking lot and is bigger and spacier than the downtown location. Our waiter was young and friendly. 9 out of 10 of us liked our food and enjoyed it. One friend ordered the special mushroom ravioli in brown butter sauce. When it arrived it looked good. There were abt 7 pieces. She gave 3 away for friends to try it. She ate 2 and spit it out. The filling was very salty. The others that tried it agreed. She called our waiter over and told him she spit out most the ones that she tried to eat due to the salty filling. He took her plate to the back to talk to the mgr. He came back and said he tried one and agreed it was too salty. He offered her something else to eat. So she got another plate and he later came back with a "complimentary" dessert. Then the bill came and both the ravioli and her second plate were charged. She asked to see the mgr and the person never came to apologize or anything. The waiter needed the mgr approval to take the charge off. He never reached her and he just took it off. We will not be visiting this place ever again. If the mgr did not have the courtesy to come and apologize then this place is not worth a second chance. read more

Went for the first time this week, and had an overall nice time. My in-laws are in town and we were all craving Italian, and since I'd always heard good things about Zarletti, thought it was the perfect opportunity. The venue itself is very cozy and enjoyable. Slightly dim-lit, a rustic wood and brick vibe, with high ceilings. I feel terrible I don't remember our servers name because she was super sweet and attentive! We ordered a few glasses of wine and a big plate of antipasti to start. Heck of a good appetizer packed with various meats and cheeses, lots of different olives, artichokes, and greens. Thoroughly enjoy fresh plates like this. The red wine (a cabernet I believe) wasn't well-liked by my father-in-law or husband, so they we're quick to move onto beer. A bummer that those draft pours came out fairly flat as well. Entrees we're a win for most of us. My husband's short ribs were divine. "Costolette Brasate" they call it on the menu. Well-cooked with lots of flavor and served in a rich sauce over creamy risotto. I ate some of it because my dish wasn't the best. I opted for the linguini scampi, and it just had little flavor. I realize it's meant to be more of a simplified dish with olive oil and herbs, but overall it was a bit dry and lackluster. Shrimp was A-ok. My in-laws loved their food. One went for the spaghetti and the other had the filetto di manzo funghi pasta dish, with beer tenderloin tips and mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce. After reading some of the reviews, I really wanted to like this place. The ambiance was nice which was surprising for a strip mall restaurant. The service was on point, friendly and fast. It seemed they had it all together. When it came to the food, my friends and I were not impressed. One of them ordered a half salad which she really enjoyed. She said that the dressing tasted homemade. We all ordered different variations on the ravioli. Mine was the spicy Italian sausage ravioli with brown butter sage sauce. First of all the ravioli itself was hard as if it was slightly fried by the butter. The filling was crumbly sausage - I guess I expected something different. I have had this dish at other restaurants and I actually made this myself in Italy at a cooking class. Maybe that's what I was thinking I would get. Sigh. Not so much. My friends' ravioli dishes also left something to be desired. Overall, we were disappointed in our meal. They are willing to give this place another try - maybe for the pizza. Really fantastic service from the host to the waitstaff to the food runners. I ordered a salad thinking it's probably going to be generic and I'll regret it, but I just didn't feel like pasta. Wow I was so wrong, this is probably my new favorite salad. I ordered the Italian chopped salad and it kind of reminded me of the Italian version of a Cobb salad, bleu cheese, crispy pancetta, loved that they added couscous in it there too to make it a more like a meal. To start we have the stuffed olives, they were good, but olives are so small if you stuff them with a sausage/beef mixture does it really taste like anything different? Not really, so it was just more like deep fried olives, still good though. Will definitely be back to try some more of their main menu and looking forward to updating my review read more

We went there on our way home from Florida and we were told we could have a table but had to be done in 1 hrs. Wow pretty insulting since we normally get an appetizer a bottle or 2 of wine l, dinner and dessert. If you can finish that in an hour good luck. We sat at the bar and it took 50 minutes to drink 1 glass of wine and get out appetizer. We were told they were booked but theyvhad reservations available online. Then our friends got a table and chating with them they were not told they needed to be done in an hour. At the bar we were not getting even close to the same service we get from McKenna nor were we even offered bread service. Then I called the manager back after leaving, she never apologized just told me how she was doing us a favor sitting us ar the bar and not let us have a table while you could go online to get a table and the bar tender told us the only reason they were saying hst is they had several tables take 3 to 4 hours. Guess our business is only worth a prostitute hour. Not sure I'll be back till they have a manger that knows how to treat clients like Owen did. The potential of this place is overshadowed by untrained staff, and a lack of attention to detail. Aesthetically, Zarletti teeters between chic bistro and fine dining, but it's delivery falls flat. Walking in, there were three staff members at the host stand - none of which greeted us until we asked for a table. Upon being seated, our disheveled server passed by several times to let us know she'd be with us shortly (more than 15 mins according to my check-in). When she finally arrived to take our order, I took note of her incredibly wrinkled black shirt covered in animal hair and lint. Asking if we were ready to order, I inquired about a few menu items - none of which she had tried. While I appreciated the honesty, I was disappointed to learn the staff didn't have an opportunity to test menu items in training to better acquaint themselves with what they're selling. The restaurant itself was seated at roughly 15-20% capacity (excluding a potential party upstairs), with a fair number of servers aimlessly wandering around - none of which seemed like they wanted to be there. At first I thought "maybe they had a bad shift meeting", but upon realizing there was rap and pop music playing through the place, I came to the conclusion there is no way a supervisor could have been there and allowed that. And if they do, it's poor judgement as it created a very in-cohesive atmosphere. Yes, it was relatively quiet, but not appropriate by any means. In an emotional moment with my date, I reached across the table to grab his hand and comfort him. At this time, the server returned with our bread and literally pushed our hands out of the way with the basket (though there was plenty of room). Dropping the plates and walking off, we both took note of the dry noodle and crusty sauce hardened to our bread plates. If this is what things looked like from our side, I can't imagine what was happening in the kitchen or if they were to par with food safety standards. The appetizer and entrees arrived at almost the same time - the bruschetta was amazing. The dinners were room temperature and seemed to have been sitting out. I can say however that they were loaded with flavor... the only positive part of our visit. Portion sizes left a bit to be desired considering the price point. After 30 minutes without returning to check on us, we flagged another server down to ask for our bill and water refills. We wanted to try dessert, but didn't have another hour to hang around. Would I eat the food again if someone brought it to me? Yes. Would I pay for this experience again? No. As someone who has worked as a trainer in hospitality for most of his life, I'd love to spend a day shadowing the management to discuss areas for improvement. Even small things like teaching servers NOT to hand water cups by touching the rim of the glass, and greeting tables with a bottle of wine can be huge. Appearance standards should be enforced, upsales encouraged, and a more personal staff expected. We specifically avoided a corporate chain in hopes of getting the "mom and pop" homey feel, but we also weren't expecting amateur hour. read more

overall the food wasn't terrible or even bad, but for the prices, it's a bit ridiculous. As a matter of fact, this is a really good example of why we don't go out for Italian food. It rarely lives up to the expectations. 1. The Zarletti burger is just the kids' burger with a preztel bun and they charge $12 for it 2. The fries were okay, but not great. They're battered with some seasoning. 3. The Seafood Risotto was pretty good, but super heavy on the salmon (which tasted super fishy) and the ring calamari which doesn't have a ton of flavor on its own. 4. Always a great meal! Old school Italian with a posh setting and a great bar. If you get there early or have to wait go across the hallway the store sells wine by the glass! We stopped here for a birthday dinner. I've been here before and haven't rated this place yet. Always really good Italian. I'm someone that likes to have different Italian choices beyond a big plate of pasta. I love all the different choices on the menu, including the appetizers. We got bruschetta, calamari, and different types of entrées. I would say that the Caesar salad was not my favorite. It didn't have that thicker rich Caesar dressing. It was a little bit white and flavor but that would be the only food that we weren't impressed with. The presentation of the food is done well and they have a lot of different choices for Italian food that go well beyond pasta. Our table had things like prosciutto, butternut squash, chicken Parmesan, prosciutto, short ribs, risotto, pizzas with multiple toppings, salads and other foods but still all within the Italian theme. We did not eat at the bar, but I do like that you can eat at the bar and Watch a game on TV if you want to. The ambience is really nice. The services well done as well. Its a nice place with good food. Service is nice and the staff eager to please. The acoustics make it a bit loud as it fills up. Note, my visit was closer to 4 1/2 stars, but not quite 5 stars. Hopefully, 1/2 stars get added to Yelp some day. I found out recently that the chef, Andrew Miller, was leaving to work on opening his own restaurant in the former Prodigal space, so I wanted to try his menu before he left. It was a beautiful evening, so my friend and I sat on the patio bewteen the fire place and the water fountain. We ordered a glass of wine and a few appetizers to get us started. Grilled Baby Octopus ($12) is served with "olives, blistered tomato, calabrian chile (from Calabria, Italy), and chickpeas. I'm generally not a fan of the texture of whole chickpeas and had a hard time appreciating these. They were crunchy, intentionally I'm sure for texture contrast. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked. It wasn't too chewy as octopus can often be. I didn't get the overall "wow" flavor I experienced with another Grilled Baby Octopus dish I had at AP Kitchen & Bar, but this dish was definitely solid! The Veal and Pork Meatballs ($9) were delicious. The texture was on the soft side, and the flavors of the seasoning and sauce were right on. After having a few different meatballs made with pork recently, I think I've decided I prefer meatballs without pork in them. They're good. I just prefer the texture and flavor profiles of meatballs without pork. The Housemade Burrata ($13) was out of this world! Creamy and delicious, it was served with housemade grilled bread. The serving was huge. We picked at it throughout the entire meal, adding it as an additional topping to the pizza we ordered. The prosciutto is available to add and really took the plate to another level! We decided to order the pizza called La Bomba ($15), and it was indeed The Bomb! It's topped with tomato sauce, fresh mozz, pieces of meatballs, and giardineira. Every bite was a flavor explosion, and it was enhanced when we added pieces of the burrata and prosciutto. WOW! All pizzas are the same size, around 12 inches and there are plenty of options to choose from ranging in price from a $9 Margherita to an $18 Del Re with a black truffle crema. Gluten free pizza, and pasta, is also available. Our last dish was the Seafood Stew ($25) with calamari, scallops, fish (I believe we had salmon and perhaps another type I cannot recall) and shrimp, served with grilled bread to dip in the broth, which was rich with the flavors of the seafood and shells it was made with! I didn't see what the retail store looked like, but I definitely love the design of the restauarant space on both floors. Although, I think the second floor would benefit from a movable divider to create separate rooms if overflow is needed for dining. It would also allow for multiple private event bookings. Our service was excellent, the wine was great, the food was great...it was an overall great dining experience. I learned that the sous chef drom Zarletti (downtown MKE) will be taking over as Executive Chef after Chef Miller leaves, so I expect great things to continue at Salotto Zarletti! read more

If you like over priced extremely mediocre food then You will Love Zarletti. Just left there. We had truffle fries and meat balls for an appetizer. The Fries were amazing. Unfortunately the meat balls could have used some Italian spice and maybe some garlic. They had a very bland flavor. The Caesar salad tasted like wet lettuce with cheese on top. They didn't even offer fresh pepper. I think they washed the lettuce and didn't spin dry it. So the dressing was very watered down. Terrible. The server never came by to ask how we liked it. We also asked for a refill of the bread. That never came. The waitress seemed new. I hope she was. Otherwise she was clueless. The food came fast. We didn't even finish the apps and the salad before main course came. I had halibut special. Was drowned in some creamy sauce. Fish was ok after I scraped the sauce off. The mashed potatoes that came with were cold. The spaghetti with meet sauce was ok. My son had a pizza and said he liked it. The cheese cake was good. The special custard with mango was disgusting. Weird texture and as far as we could tell no mango. Supposed to be sweet. It was missing. I liked the ambiance of the place. Seemed crowded. Maybe I just got unlucky. PersonallyI will not be going back. By the way. 4 people with 1 glass of wine. 2 apps. And a salad. And 2 of the 4 people split pizza. 204 with tip. I was at a high basketball game, and some of us were looking for a restaurant that was open. We went to Zarlettis in Mequon because their website said they were open until 10 pm. We got there at 8:30 and they told us they are not serving and they are closed. Their manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. I told him he should change the website because it says they are open until 10. He said it was up to them when they closed. The place was busy, and it was still an hour and a half before they were supposed to close. I am extremely disappointed with the manager and how he talked to us as customers. read more

From the friendly service to the tasty food, everything about my experience at Zarletti's was fantastic. I am actually shocked to see a few poor reviews on Yelp. Ambiance: It is a nice mix between formal and casual, allowing guests the flexibility to wear anything from jeans to more formal attire. There are plenty of seating options to fit whatever mood you are in. If you have a particular place you would sit in the restaurant, don't be afraid to ask. The staff I encountered were all very accommodating. Service: Our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She even knew how to handle the banter of a jokester in our dinner party. Food: Among the dishes our dinner party tasted, the best was the Cavatappi Salsiccia Marsala (spicy italian sausage, wild mushrooms, onion, walnuts, basil, marsala cream sauce). The pasta was fresh, the mushrooms and marsala sauce provided a nice creaminess, and the sausage has just the right amount of kick. The Braised Short Ribs (served with risotto Milanese) were also rich and hearty, but I would have preferred a little more zest in the braised flavors of the ribs. We rounded out our meal with a couple of desserts, including the cheesecake. The addition of the pistachios gave the crust a fresh flavor while the creaminess of the blueberry-topped cheesecake melted in our mouths. Overall, it's great to have a Zarletti's a little closer to the community I often visit. I definitely look forward to trying more of their fresh pasta dishes when I am in town again. read more

We made reservations for 6:15, but arrived at 6, fully expecting to wait for our table, but we were seated right away. That is why i gave any star at all. I'm sure that the water offered would have been refreshing if we ever received any. And I'm sure the bread and salad would have been fresh if we had received any. And the main course! Oh, I bet that would have been top tier dining at its finest, if we ever ate anything. Once seated, we were never acknowledged. After over 20 minutes of waiting for any sign that we indeed were not invisible, we left, after helping ourselves to a mint at the front desk. We did, however, enjoy a timely and delicious dinner at The Cheesecake Factory where Nicole met our every need with speed and accuracy. Oh, and it was delicious! read more

Visiting Zarletti has been a hit or miss situation. Sometimes pretty good and sometimes not so much!! Either way the service is not up to the decor and menu! We have ordered carry out several times and have never been disappointed, the same is true in person; the food is alway good when it's delivered promptly. During our recent visit the restaurant was only half full as it was early. Our server may have been new and not well trained or just didn't really care, not sure! He took our drink order dropped the drinks and swooped back in to quickly take our order while we sat and listened to the other server explain specials and offer bread (both of which we had to ask our serve for as he swept past our table). At the end of our meal we asked about dessert and got a hasty description, we made our choices but what we received wasn't even sort of what our server had explained! The last straw was the fact that there were nuts in what they called the flourless chocolate cake which my companion has a sensitivity to!! Good thing she had her medication!
