I recently visited this fabulous shop in a modern wherehouse space (with a vintage brick facade) and just loved it! The art is classy and very high end and beautiful! In 2011 Susan at Chandler helped me frame a piece of art for my mother who is very particular. The colors and shape were very difficult to work with but Susan presented an unusual but beautiful frame and was able to provide a mat with the needed cutout. After 25 years in storage we placed the art on the living room wall. My mom loves the piece and still comments on how wonderfully the frame and mat compliment the art piece. This year when my father gave me one of his original Ansel Adams photos that was garishly framed I was ecstatic to know Chandler was still in business. I had a frame style in mind but Susan showed me how a small difference in the frame style that was still simple but emphasized the beauty of the photo. She also expertly chose a mat color that brought out details in the photo. I picked up the framed photo this week and it is spectacular. Surprisingly you do not pay that much more to have your art framed at Chandler than a Michaels or Fast Frame but the difference in quality is exponential. I have always been very impressed with the fabulous way Susan chooses the frame, and mattings, to perfectly compliment the art it is showcasing. I have two modern-retro "tiki" prints, and she put them in dark, carved wood frames, that evoke traditional south seas art, which makes the whole an evocative, yet tied together composition of different eras. The openings are fun at Chandler, as well. Having a cocktail was a refreshing change from the usual wine seved elsewhere. Great art too. read more

I bring all my framing here. I even have Susan ship things to New York and elsewhere. She is the best, can solve any problem and never lets me down. There's a difference between framing and Museum Framing--the latter is done right in all the right way to preserve a piece or just make it shine. Susan has spoiled me over the years, now I can't go anywhere else. Sometimes when there I'll see som eone come in and want to frame, say, a poster--and not spend a lot. Framing is expensive, and it should be, but Susan will do what she can to stay reasonable. What she is best at is making anything look like it costs a million dollars. Great for corporate art (I've done my share with her). Lastly she runs a gallery on site and always has interesting pieces. read more

I've been coming to Susan and her team for nearly two years now for my company and she's our go-to person for any frame job we need (we even have a "usual" frame now that we use on all the photos in our buildings). Whether its a rush with a 5-day turnover, or a custom frame for a 60" x 40" print, there's literally no job too big or too small for these guys (trust me, we've thrown a lot at them over the years to test this theory). The customer service is always great and when the frame is too large to carry, they will even drop it off to us in Union Square! Recently went to Chandler Fine Art & Framing to get several degrees framed for the office. Not one to be cheap about professional framing I of course did a yelp search. I prefer someone to help me figure out exactly what type of frame with matting, colors, etc. is going to go together. Went in and and spent a good 30 minutes going over all the possibilities. They were incredibly helpful and I was very pleased with how everything turned out. They are more expensive than I am used to but I'm very satisfied with the service and outcome. They did a really nice job on a short turnaround. They have a lot of stock options available for frames. Quality was very nice and I was very pleased with the final product. My only criticism is that their estimated time of completion was off by a few days, and I didn't find out until I called before I wanted to pick it up. It was fine and didn't cause me any issues, but if you are going to miss your window of completion, it's probably best to call in advance to give the customer a head's up in case it is going to be an issue. read more

I don't write many reviews but feel so compelled in this case because this was one of the worst businesses (let alone framers) I've ever dealt with in my life. In September, I sent Chandler a number of works to frame and the owner, Susan, quoted me 3-4 weeks to complete the job. It did not take 3-4 weeks, it took months. They finally had everything framed in December (!) but it turned out everything was framed incorrectly. To add insult to injury, the owner wanted to charge me to re-frame the pieces (even though I had documented emails (with pictures!) explaining how to frame everything correctly). After much prodding, the owner reluctantly agreed to fix the mistake and the work was finished at the end of January...all in all it took 4 months. Truly crazy and not inexpensive. As an update, it's now been about a year and I was just contacted by my gallery to let me know that two of the frames are now falling apart -- I need to have them re-framed. So so very disappointing. read more

I have used Susan for business and personal framing. I have also purchased art from her. I trust her completely. The business framing was a very large job that had to be competitively bid. She won the bid and I have been living with the results for years. Spectacular work. The second time I bid it out, another firm won the bid. I have also been living with these pieces for years. That framing has been a disappointment. Given a choice, I will always go with Chandler's. I have also had a certain amount of personal work done. I always trust her eye and her skill. The most impressive piece was a custom fabricated frame for a flat metal art piece that was damaged in the corner and I wanted to hide the damage.
