The food was good, the service was good. We paid to do the self tour but then noticed no one else had we were the only ones wearing the wrist bands. I was okay with that because I was happy to support Chaney's. It was a great experience for the kids they loved it. After walking around and doing the self the kids played for awhile then we went inside and got Ice Cream the Moo Pies were the best would recommend them to everyone. read more

Let me preface by saying that I am obsessed with dairy farms. I love eating at spots that source some of their main ingredients from their farm. This place just exactly that! Located in the rural Bowling Green, KY, this place was just what I was looking for, while visiting for the day. Bowling Green is only about an hour drive from Nashville and made for a nice getaway for the afternoon. Before our cave river tour (at Lost River), my family and I stopped in here for lunch and a sweet treat. Walked into the dairy shop/restaurant immediately enamored by the cuteness. All I could think of was cozying up to a warm cup of coffee and a scoop of their ice cream on a freshly-baked cookie. Sadly, we just had time for a quick lunch and dessert. They do offer tours of their dairy farm and there is even a barn outside that you can host parties in and a huge outdoor playground. So adorable! The cafe and shop gave it a very homey feeling. At the cafe, I ordered grilled cheese sandwiches and a chicken sandwich with fries and chips. From the dairy counter, I had to order the mini Moo Pie, which was a chocolate chip cookie baked in an iron skillet with a scoop of their farm-made ice cream. Yup, they make their own ice cream + they sell the pint sizes you can take with you. Everything was delicious. Ahhhh... craving the food and drooling from the thought of it now. The country store is adorable, too. Buy some homemade jams and sauces. So, when in Bowling Green, this is a must, so don't pass it up and miss all the goodness they have here! It's about an 8-10 minutes drive from the interstate and makes a great stop if you are going to or coming from Nashville. read more

Great location for families, and great selection of ice cream. We enjoyed our shakes. However, the buns on our burgers were still cold to the touch, is if they were just taken out of a fridge. Burgers were overall disappointing. Also, the women's bathroom was filthy - paper towel pieces all over the floor and hair and dirt around sinks. read more

Nice place for ice cream. I wish they had a lactose-free ice cream option, though. They had a dairy-free option. We were not impressed with their chicken salad sandwich. It tasted good but they don't give you very much. I chose the the potato salad. It was good but didn't give much, either. Both the Turkey and ham sandwiches only had a sliver of meat on them. Great ice cream! We loved our icecream and waffle cones! We stopped by on the way home from a trip so we didn't stay long, but it seems like a great place to spend time at especially with kids! The playground was awesome and next time we go I'd love to take a tour of the farm! As a school teacher, I think it's important that kids understand where food comes from (aka not Kroger or Walmart). Seems like a very clean and well maintained farm. It's also interesting to see the automated milking process in action. The ice cream there is probably the best I've had. I was honestly very surprised by how much we enjoyed visiting Chaney's the other day. I'm still relatively new to Bowling Green and the other similar farm/shops that I've seen were disappointing. I love that Chaney's serves lunch (a good one, at that) and make their own ice cream in LOTS of flavors! That alone makes it a great place to visit if you only have time for a meal. There's also a great little gift shop in the restaurant with local goods. I would've looked more closely but I'm on a tight budget and knew I'd see something I'd want. Ha! There are lots of fun playgrounds for the kids outside including a large pillow/balloon you can jump on! The barn tour itself was also impressive. If you have a sensitive nose, beware it is a farm and smells like one. We chose the self guided tour since we had a time constraint and it's much cheaper. I'm so glad we did! We got to see the real milker in action and saw lots of pretty cows hanging out. It would be cool if they had a little bit more info on the dairy farm process but it was a really neat little tour. The employees were so kind and helpful, even with our questions about the milking process. I'm putting Chaney's on my list of top things to do in Bowling Green and if you happen to be passing through, at least get some delicious ice cream! read more

Food waited in the window for a good 5 minutes while employee helped people get ice cream and the other employee watched me stand at the counter while he wiped down tables in a dining area no one was sitting in. Didn't even ask me if I needed any help. There should always be at least 2 people in the front, one to take food orders and one to help out with ice cream. Will not be coming back. read more

During our trip to Kentucky this place was on our list of things to do. The Dairy Barn was very clean and the outside playground was great for families with children less than 12 years old. They had lots of fun slides and swings. We did not eat the food, we were there for the ice cream. We each ordered the waffle cone with 3 scoops. The had lots of flavors to choose from and the let you taste before they scooped your flavor. I know the ice cream is homemade, but I did not feel it was the best ice cream I ever had. Although my stop here was quick, it definitely seemed like a good place to bring the fam to enjoy the various flavors of ice cream (and a meal - although I can't vouch for the food since I just had the ice cream) and let the kids play around in the back. I came here thinking it was going to be a lame kids' attraction and I was pleasantly very wrong! Yea there were a bunch of kids and kids' stuff, but I found myself entertained by the milking demonstration, the delicious (and cheap!) food, and the wonderful ice cream. We spent some time here just relaxing, enjoying our food, and sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs before checking out the barn. The displays, viewing window, and milking machine are really neat and worth the visit in and of themselves. I can't say I have ever seen a teet handled like that, and I will forever remember that. read more

Truly a spot worth visiting if you're anywhere near Bowling Green KY! Family owned and run, working Dairy with a restaurant and gift shop, and the the best homemade ice cream I've ever had. SO creamy, fluffy and smooth with mouth watering flavors like Peanut Butter swirl with chunks of Reese's! Just a short drive out in the pretty Kentucky countryside and they also give tours of the Dairy! Highly recommend! read more

Always have to come here and buy a shirt and some ice cream when I fly in to visit family. They have wonderful ice cream here. Lots of toppings and flavors. They even have milking tours and such. The food is not worth the price. Burgers are from the freezer and seven bucks for a chicken salad sandwich on white bread is an "Ok" price but it's not superior as the menu taunts. We visited here three or four years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, but we're completely disappointed this trip. You can no longer buy milk by the gallon and the ice cream is good but not superior like it once was. If you want to walk the kids around the farm, maybe consider stopping. If you're expecting the dairy farm experience with the offerings of products made there, I'd reconsider the stop. read more

Their spicy chicken sandwich is great, their fries are great! I ordered a side salad with my spicy chicken burger and it was so lovely: crisp veggies, nothing watery or brown-ish or wilting!
