In comparison to all of the other places to eat in Cache Creek, Chang Shou would have to be the most eye-appealing. It could definitely pass for a Vegas style restaurant. I like the little fountain they have by the host stand.. Made me want to snatch some coins out and use them for the penny slots really quick. Hahaha just kidding! The service deserves 5 stars! Our server was wonderful! She was very apologetic about us having to wait a little(which we didn't mind at all) & provided excellent service. She was efficient and attentive! The first and ONLY time I ate here, I found a giant piece of paper with something written on it in my stew dish. No joke. Complained to the waitress and she panicked and called over the manager. After much haggling, they were willing to reimburse me for the untouched dish. At first, they just wanted to offer me free desert. I expected more. It completely killed my appetite and left hungry. My family and I chose this establishment for our Mother's Day celebration because it seemed to offer what we were looking for. Unfortunately, the service we received was completely rude and disrespectful. Here are more details for my one-star rating: 1) Bad staff attitude. We received a dish that wasn't what we were expecting and wanted to send it back to the kitchen. We only had one bite before realizing that the rest would be completely unappetizing. The manager in charge came to our table with an attitude and told us we should have read the menu more closely. 2) Staff apathy. When my mom was reaching for something in her purse, her cane fell to the floor and was struggling to pick it up. As I was reaching for my wallet to pay, I saw that the waiter saw what had happened and was expecting him to help her by simply picking up the cane- but he didn't. He simply watched her struggle. THE BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT EVER!!!! I adore this Chinese Restaurant! I've had mostly bad experiences when it comes to a Chinese restaurant, but this one is perfect. It has great ambiance and decor. They have a lot of booth and table options. We ordered the Korean BBQ ribs ($17), the salt and pepper fried pork, buddha delight vegggies with mushrooms and bok choy, the honey walnut shrimp, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was delicious! I heard they also have great porridge! The food came out really quick, which was great because we were starving! But the quality of the food and the mouthwatering taste was the best part. Every dish came out perfect and nothing was under or over cooked. I wish this restaurant was closer to home, but for now, I guess I'll have to make the two hour drive to eat here! This is a Chinese restaurant inside of Cache Creek Casino, on the opposite end of where the hotel lobby is located. I came here with some family to enjoy an upscale Chinese food experience. After walking over a faux water bridge and seeing a Feng shui designed waiting area, we were all warmly greeted by the hostess. Within a few moments, we were seated in the back, where some extra booth seats were located. This area was quieter than the main dining room, which is where the bulk of the seating is located. Something I noticed right away was all of the cool looking copper dragons hanging from the ceiling. We ordered several helpings of honey walnut prawns, which are made with a honey and mayonnaise sauce, candied walnuts and finally large prawns. Sometimes Chinese restaurants make this dish with carrot shreds, which add a nice texture to it. We also ordered a udon noodle soup, which is very large and can easily serve one or be shared family style. Finally, we ordered sticky white rice plus some chicken chow mein. The food all tasted good, especially the honey walnut prawns. I'll definitely be ordering that dish again. The service was good and the manager checked all of the tables in our section frequently. He made sure our food was hot after it was delivered, which was nice. One of my family members had a discount for the restaurant, so we used it to lower the bill, but there was a balance we paid. read more

Sorry the food looked good and everything but being that we got there before 12 the waitress at the counter just stood there and didn't even help us and then another waitress came and asked if she helped us already she just looked as if she wasn't trying to do anything. Honestly that honey needs to go I understand that it's closing time but the fact that the lady before us had just been helped and was seated with 12 ppl but they were fully booked I'm disappointed in the customer service and the way she was towards us shouldn't have been like that. The must haves: Buddha delight, wor wonton soup with noodles, and Hong Kong style chow mein. I've never been disappointed eating here: the food and service are excellent. The food is not greasy nor is it drenched in heavy sauce. They don't use MSG, either. I like how they offer food from different parts of Asia. When we visit Cache Creek, we always eat here... much better than the buffet. Of course it's nice when you can use the $25 from Cache Creek - the one you get when you join their Club. We usually get their sesame chicken and their honey walnut prawns. Both are sooo good! Just thinking about it makes me wanna go visit their casino soon! I was always skeptical about Chang Shou, thinking it was like a P.F. Chang's. We have passed by it so many times while in the casino and the lines were always long and the wait is usually an hour or so without reservations. Because we got such a late tee time and the restaurant on top of the golf course was closed and there is nothing around the casino except the casino we decided to eat at Chang Shou and give it a try. Never hurts to give anything a try. This restaurant serves Asian cuisine, not just Chinese, but Thai and Filipino food. I would rather have them serve one type of Asian food instead of a variety of Asian food because they end up not cooking some dishes correctly and I was right. There were lots of Asian patrons in this restaurant when we were here. I'm sure many of them get their food bill comped because they are high rollers. Service: The service was fine, nothing over the top, normal service was given. Food: Chinese Chicken Salad - I didn't try this dish, didn't look like the typical Chinese chicken salad you find at restaurants. I wouldn't order this dish but because my boyfriend's brother was on a strict diet he had to order a salad. Peking Duck - The peking duck was very good. The skin was very crispy and the Asian chips that come along with it were very fresh. Not like the ones they serve at typical Asian restaurants where they cook it in the morning and leave it sitting there all day until they need to put it on a dish and it's a stale chip by then. I would def order this dish again. Shrimp Stir Fry - The Shrimp Stir Fry wasn't bad at all. Some people may say it's bland, but I like my food bland at times. It had baby corn, carrot, bok choy and American broccoli as the stir fry veggies. Pad Thai - My first instinct about the Pad Thai when I saw it on the menu that you could order it however spicy you want, should have been DO NOT ORDER!!! The waitress did ask me how spicy I wanted my pad thai, I looked at her and said, huh?!?! So I went with mild. When it came out, presentation was not pad thai and it didn't' taste like pad thai. Kung Pao Chicken - The kung pao chicken was pretty good. I really liked that dish. One odd thing about it is they add jalapeno peppers instead of the red chili peppers that they usually add in Asian restaurants. They did have flakes of chili pepper. Shrimp Fried Rice - It was good, nothing out of the ordinary. Fried rice stir fried in soy sauce with shrimp. Overall, the food was decent. The portions are decent size, not huge portions you find at a typical Chinese restaurant. They don't add MSG which I really like. The prices are typical for an Americanized Chinese restaurant, average price of a dish is about $10 - $12. They have to make their money somewhere for it being in a casino. Think of it as a PF Chang's but better food. Haven't been to a PF Chang's in YEARS. Being Asian I think PF Chang's is too Americanized for me and the food doesn't even taste like Chinese food, at least some of the Chang Shou's dishes are authentic enough, the food is cooked by Asians. Had dinner with the fam on a Thursday night. Wasn't too crowded which was nice. I had not visited Cache Creek since the remodel so I was pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful it is. We decided to have Chinese food for dinner and I was happy we did. Our server was quite nice and our food was really tasty. The menu is quite extensive and there is a variety of options on it. We had the pork potstickers which had a nice flavor. The hot and sour soup was really good. It had a nice amount of heat to it. I was surprised I enjoyed the honey walnut shrimp as much as I did. They were delicious! Everything we ordered was good. We signed up for players cards and each of us got a dining credit of $25. We were all able to us it towards the meal so we received $80 off! MLK weekend, took my grand-parental units and one of their friends to the Cache Creek. Look at me, just a good granddaughter. After a couple hours of slots machines, I decided we should grab a bite for lunch. Since they visit this restaurant every time they make a trip, i figured, why not? The hostess was great and sat us down really quickly in a comfortable booth. The food is okay, it's not authentic or anything, really Americanized Asian food but it wasn't bad. The soup bowls are definitely HUGE and should be shared. The chicken fried rice and the seafood chow mein are good portions and my grandparents seemed to enjoy it. BUT, their downfall came when I got the bill, not for the food but for the TEA. WHAT KIND OF CHINESE/ASIAN RESTAURANT CHARGES FOR TEA!!??? That is sooooo wrong on a moral/ethical/and cellular level. And you'd think they would charge per teapot, but you would be WRONG, they charge the tea PER PERSON. My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night, around 11:20 not knowing they closed at midnight. Our waitress Norma was PHENOMENAL! I've been in the restaurant industry for 12+ years. Not only was she (Norma) professional and pleasant but she also didn't seem annoyed or pushy at all, even with us being one of her last tables. She made recommendations on which entrees to choose after my boyfriend inquired. Towards the end of the meal she offered boxes before we even had to ask. Everything we needed to have a great dining experience promptly showed up the moment we realized we needed to ask for it. It was like she was reading our minds This type of service shouldn't go unnoticed. Servers like her are few and far between! This place gets 5 stars because of Norma, and the food was solid as well.
