The food was good but the service was not! I ordered the "tom yum noodles" and a "Thai iced tea" and the noodles were spicy but good and I always love the tea. When my mom and I walked in there were only 2 other people in there and it has WAY too many decorations, if you want to be left alone the server we had does just that, we sat down he brought us our waters and left then he came back what felt like 20 minutes later and asked if we were ready when we said no he left again and came back what felt like another 20 minutes later and when we still didn't know he didn't suggest anything or tell us the specials he just stood there and I think the main reason why we didn't know is because the menus were so hard to read! Was in Thailand for a month and a half, and I can say the Pad Thai and Lamb red curry were absolutely authentic. The gentleman (owner?) is from Bangkok so that probably explains it. I called to order take out from them 15 minute before they opened. They would not take my order until they were open even though it was only 15 minutes. I called back 3 times after they opened and no one answered. I guess my business wasn't that important to them. If you're looking for excellent Thai food in the area, go to Bangkok 103 in College Place. The service better, though still slow like Thai Ploy, but the food is 10x better and the lady who cooks is actually Thai. read more

This was the worst dining experience I have had in a while. It was a very busy evening, however the way they seemed to cope with the large number of diners was lacking. I had the cashew chicken, in which I found a single (bad) cashew, and the seemingly boiled chicken was over cooked. In a friends dish the waitress specifically asked if he wanted his tofu fried, he said yes, and wen it came it wasn't. When we asked her about it she showed us the ticket and she had made a clear note of it. I would put most of the issues with our dining experience on the overwhelmed kitchen I think a saving grace of the experience was our server Anna. There were many more issues such as waiting 2 hours after ordering to get our food (and getting our drinks at the same time!), and the half hour wait to get our water and menus after sitting down. Anna was very apologetic and made sure to let us know there was a student discount. However with all of the wonderful restaurants in town, I will not go back. *To all of the other restaurants, need another waitress? Ask Anna!* read more

Ordered for take out and was ready when I arrived 12 minutes later. The food was very good, the Tom Kha coconut milk soup was full of chicken way more than I get at my favorite place at home. The Pud Prik was also a very big portion with tons of beef. It was vey spicy albeit it seemed the spice came from pepper versus Thai spices but still very tasty. Got this recommended by someone working at a winery when we stated that our dinner plans were for Phoumys. Although we cannot compare with the latter as we ended up not going, we did not regret going to Thai Ploy as their food and service were very good. The quality is not quite up there with Seattle's finest but a very good option if you're in that kind of mood in Walla Walla. I order take out most of the time-- I work in the evenings and have just a small break for dinner-on-the-go. I call ahead and pick up because, like others have commented, the order usually takes between fifteen to twenty minutes... I have my favorite dishes and I have never had an experience I would complain about. The staff have accomodated substitution requests and have always been responsive. As I read the comments I think: are the bad reviews due to our "hurry" American culture? And as far as the "3x a hair" I think to myself-- "Couldn't it be YOUR hair?" Anyways, Thai Ploy is on our regular rotation for dinner, usually three times a month at least. I am happy to support the business and think the menu offers a great selection for our small town. I haven't liked any other Asian-based restaurant half as much and we have a number of them in the community. Come in (or call in), sit down, and relax...! read more

Best Thai food in Walla Walla hands down. I've been to Thailand many times & like how their Thai food is authentic instead of Americanized. It's to bad some people are intimidated by other cultures. I have been eating here for years & the older gentleman is very friendly. I have no idea why the recent reviews love this place. For 11.00 for a stir fry dish, it should have been loads better. A spicy sauce that I'm pretty sure was just curry paste, dead looking vegetables, and the eggplant had a consistency that made me think it had been frozen. It was the quality and presentation that I'd expect from a greasy spoon Chinese lounge/restaurant, and should have cost more like $6.00. read more

$23 (with tip) for a take out order of Chicken Pad Thai and Avocado Spring rolls. Wow, I should have been blown away for that price, but not so much. Edible, but that's about it. I couldn't hardly find the chicken in my Pad Thai, the spring rolls were good, but barely 2 slices of avocado. 6 people in the restaurant and it took a full 25 minutes to get my order. Just feeling a bit ripped off, I'm sure the owners don't read these, but I'd like to save someone else $23. read more

Too expensive for lunch, we were brought lunch portions but charged dinner prices. Two out of the three items we ordered were incorrect. The waitress didn't know the specials and this caused some of the confusion. They were out of what my husband ordered, so they just brought him another dish without asking! When the bill came it was 46 dollars for two entrees and an appetizer with no drinks. I paid less than that for dinner at a similar Thai place in town. read more

Have had some very good Thai living on the coast and was a bit apprehensive but was in the mood so off I went. NOT disappointed. Ever after reading the reviews. I kind of liked the over abundance of Thai décor. Made a statement family owned and run. The food was very good. We tried several things and my curry was lovely. Our service was very good which was nice to see as the comments do not reflect that lately. I'll be back and it's good to know that there is pretty good Thai food in Walla Walla. :) read more

After seeing reviews here from cosmopolitan appreciators of good Thai food in other cities, I was eager to try Thai Ploy. Delicious ! Very good service, too. I asked the male owner if I could have less of the normal 4 cups of Tom Kha soup, vegetarian -- I was eating alone -- and he agreed to give me 2 cups at half the price. The authentic Thai flavors burst with spicy depth in every spoonful! I had a Stir Fry with Pork (can't recall the name now) and it too was so flavorful, with crisp vegetables and tender pork. The portions were so generous that I happily took both dishes away (to the motel and then home to Spokane the next day), not in awkward non-recyclable styrofoam shells, but in sturdy translucent (didn't have to open them to see what was in which one) #5 recyclable plastic containers with tight-fitting lids like you get your potato salad put in at the supermarket deli area. Consequently, both dishes retained their fresh flavors in my frig overnight. I only visit Walla Walla once or twice a year, but I am not even interested in trying any of the other restaurants: my meal here was so fresh and yummy that I am going to try other dishes on the menu next time I come to down. Oh, and I appreciated the low-volume Asian music playing and the comfortable temperature in the restaurant: I was not chilled by excessive air conditioning. read more
