I am sorry to say this but the food was inedible. I order a beef noodle soup with added meatball and the bill came out to $27. When I took this to go. The waitress asked me if I wanted any sauce. I have what kind of sauce do you have. She replied soy sauce and chili oil is what normally comes with this. Soy sauce should never be used to enhance flavor of a soup rather than a protein marinate. The beef was very thickly slice not thin. It also tasted a bit old and not fresh. As I was looking around, there was no one in the parking lot or inside the restaurant. We ordered from DoorDash and had to wait Dian hour before our two dishes were ready. Unfortunately, our wait arrived with disappointment. This is NOT Thai food. I have absolutely no idea what they prepared, but it wasn't Thai Basil (no flavor, no green beans - bell peppers in the photo) and even the Phad Thai was dry with over cooked chicken and no flavor in the noodles, truly disappointing. We had gotten into town late so decided to pick up take out. I've always liked their fresh rolls with shrimp & yellow chicken curry. There was no other customers in the restaurant when we arrived! Not a good sign dinner time. We were told the wait was ~ 20 minutes. 50 minutes later our take out arrived. We drove 5 minutes home. The curry was lukewarm warm, tasteless, and separating.... Rice was cold and gluey. The fried gyoza was over done, cool, tasteless.The fresh rolls were good. Most of our dinner went to the trash. We will not be going back here anytime soon. read more

My frail and I were at dis joint last Monday. Had not been here in a few years but the food was decent in the past though the service was slow. This time the dumb bunny server told me when I wanted to order chicken fried rice it wasn't on da menu and they did not fix nutt'in that was not specifically on the menu. Especially when it was THIS BUSY. (The joint wasn't half full) I was ready to dust on out of there. Then he says he can add chicken to vegetable fried rice that is on the menu and it will be like chicken fried rice. I says, sure do dat. Doh! About 45 minutes later our order FINALLY arrived. I was long past ready to ride on outta there but .. my partner wanted to eat so I didn't whine about it and we stayed. She had drunken noodles and loved them. My vegetable fried rice with chicken was not edible. I ate some but could not continue because it tasted bad and not Thai at all. I lived in Thailand for a year so I have an idea how Thai food should taste. Granted it will never taste just the same in the U.S. but this wasn't even in the ball park. I says ta her taste dis. She says, "Oh my that's not good". I says, " I can't eat it, it tastes like garbage warmed up to me but I'll put it in a box if you want it later". She says, "No I wouldn't eat that". So in da end I paid out the long green for inedible food that wasn't Thai at all and I could not eat after waiting 45 minutes for it ta show up. Went there for lunch and was the only person there and i wish i would have taken that as a sign to turn around and walk out but i decided to try their food and stayed to eat.. Phoumy once, shame on you. Phoumy twice, shame on me. Second attempt at delivery after the first delivery in the past had been terrible. Can't complain about the food at all. The service on the other hand is awful. We stressed food allergies and received the incorrect order that had everything in it we couldn't eat. They also left half of our order AGAIN at the restaurant. We had to call and talk them into delivering the correct complete order even though they didn't want to. After the phone call to fix the order, the phone rang. It was the manager saying he'd need the one incorrect order back. I guess he thought we were trying to ruin our dinner by scamming them somehow and the half order they left behind at the store was our fault as well. When the manager arrived we asked why he would want an opened meal back (he assumed we wanted a free meal we couldn't eat?) he said uhhh, well, maybe I'll eat it for dinner. Very gross. The way we were treated I'd assume he probably served it to another customer upon return. From the outside, Phoumy's is a beacon of hope on the bleak street of Isaacs. Right off the bat we were greeted by our enthusiastic server for the night. The ambiance was top notch, I loved the decorations on the walls, they made for interesting viewing. We truly felt cared for by our dearest waiter who dealt with our long and complicated orders. The food could've came out more promptly, but the friendly check ins from our waiter made up for it. The food was alright, but I enjoyed the Thai Tea. I ordered pick up through Doordash. My food order was ready when I arrived 10 min after I received my ready notification. It's a family owned business, so when I arrived it was only the drink that needed to be prepared, which worked out for me. I accidentally ordered a Thai coffee instead of Thai tea. I was granted my drink. Excellent tea! While some staff (I think sons) were not wearing masks, the chefs were. I think that's important to note only cause of the pandemic, people are not sitting inside and so they probably took them off but it got busy when I arrived, so have patience. I observed lots of handwashing so I'm not concerned since i wore my mask when i entered for pick up. I ordered the yum salad (spicy beef), and spring rolls. The salad was delicious and flavorful, but not spicy. The beef was tender and well seasoned. I didn't see an option for spicyness level, so it didn't occur to me to make the note. I'll definitely ask next time. But if you don't like a tingle on your tongue then order as is. The spring rolls are huge! They caught me by surprise lol and very fresh and crunchy, next time I'll take a pic. I didn't order chicken, but had it in there anyway, which yay! I ended up saving a roll and half for the next day lunch. I picked the sweet and sour sauce for the rolls, delicious and also used the left over sauce for a salad. To start off the food here is pretty good, a little on the higher end when it comes to Thai food, but that's the norm when it comes to Thai food in Walla Walla. The service here is THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I brought my girlfriend out on a date here and we waited for over an HOUR, waiting for our food. After watching 2 tables that came in after us get served i asked the waitress where our food was and she walked away from me without saying anything. I eventually asked if we could get any sort of discount on our meal, and they give us 40% off a soda. They weren't even busy! There were only 2 other tables there the entire time. Loving this place! I was looking for something different in the area and ended up at this restaurant. Loved the house made made peanut sauce with the spring rolls. Also ordered the chicken pad Thai and my husband had the beef pho. The service and the food was great! We cleaned our plates ( which is the picture of the last two photos). I wasn't going to post a review after our visit yesterday because I hate to post something negative about a local restaurant. But having considered the possibility that they might read this and make some changes before another long standing Walla Walla restaurant closes I think it is worth posting my thoughts. Also hopefully no one will unknowingly go there without the understanding of their new policy regarding gratuities. Rude staff. Head waiter made it clear that he would rather have his restaurant empty (as it was when we arrived than serve us. Reheated leftover food. Put a 18% gratuity on the check without any mention of it. A very generous tip considering the openly rude reception which sort of warmed to a distant and cold indifference by the end of our meal. Which reminds me of the food. My son's orange chicken was leathery and the sauce was gooey. It had been microwaved. My Basel chicken was very salty. The Pad Thai was sour and very sweet, and cold. It had no discernible peanut flavor. I would consider this establishment a prime candidate for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. I have been there many times over the past few years and brought visitors to Walla Walla to eat there and recommended it to countless people. But sadly something has changed. The menu was different and perhaps they have new cooks or something but whatever the issues are they have had a profound effect on the quality of the food and something is dreadfully wrong with the way they are treating customers. For context: I went in for dinner, alone, to treat myself. Have been here multiple times. Tonight there were 5 tables total, with 2 servers tending us. I was the only party of one. I was largely ignored. During the meal, I was visited once, as an obvious afterthought, when one of the servers realized my water was empty. At that point, I had already been patiently waiting to ask for extra rice and an extra napkin. I asked for them then. At least 20 minutes went by. Sauce I wanted more rice for was luke warm at best by this point. I consider flagging the servers from the kitchen. More time passes, enough time that I should have been cashed out already, not waiting for extra rice. The other servers asked if I want the check. I explain to him that I'm not real happy with the service and why. He wonders why I didn't flag him down. I explain that he never checked on me. There wasn't a fair moment to flag him down without shouting at one of the servers while they were at another table. His final appeal was "What do you want me to do about it." I was seated in a back corner and only in the path of the water pitcher refill, for reference. I don't believe it is egotistical to expect at least one check up by a server when you are paying 12.95 for a plate alone. The thing is, I should have known better, as the service there was bad enough the last time that a friend stopped wanting to go there. The food tastes great though, but you'll pay for it. read more
