Ok have been have a problem with CL now for several months. I cannot get higher speed because where I live does not have one and cannot switch until the end of the year. I have filed a complaint with the bbb as they do not seem to really care about their customers issues or at least their techs don't. I have been a customer since they were Quest and before that Southwest Ph. so many years. I just received a response from the bbb from CL and their response is quote "CenturyLink appreciates Ms.King writing regarding her recent experience with our company. I regret to inform Ms.King that she did not include sufficient information for CenturyLink to conduct an investigation. In order to investigate the complaint, the CenturyLink account number will need to be provided. I attempted to find the account number using the address listed on the BBB complaint but I was unsuccessful in finding an account in Ms.King's name. Once this information is received, CenturyLink will be happy to investigate the complaint" unquote. So I sent a copy to the bbb of my last bill from them that shows it is in my name. Obviously it shows that my account number is my phone number and my address that is listed with the bbb is current one I reside at! This only tells me that the representative did not want to follow up on the complaint. What a poor why to do buisness!!! If I could I would give -5 Stars. read more

I never thought I would be writing a 4 star review for CL, but my experience with a technician who came out to solve my internet problems today changed my mind. I've had CL since before they were CL (when they were still Qwest). I've also always had issues with my internet being slow and cutting out periodically throughout the day. About a year or two ago they came out to upgrade our lines, which improved speed somewhat but that is of no help when your internet is constantly cutting out. I avoid calling tech support because it takes forever and who wants to spend all day waiting on the phone, only to get nowhere. However, being home sick today and also being fed up and tired of dealing with the spotty internet connect, not to mention that I was getting speeds of about 9 mbps even though I'm paying for 20 mbps, I finally contacted the tech chat person today. I was told my line was unstable and they would have someone out between 1:30 and 5:30. I figured I'd be waiting all afternoon, but the technician showed up around 1:15! Long story short, he was extremely nice, explained everything he was doing to me, showed me everything, and spent almost 2 hours solving my problem and didn't charge me anything! My last experience with a CL technician involved him flirting with me and giving me his number. Not cool. This guy was so awesome, I only wish I remembered his name because he did such a great job! Now, I will still be calling CL to complain because my bill has gone up to $90/month which is outrageous and every time I try to chat with them about discounts they just want to sell me tv, which I've said about 5000 times I do not want. Overall I'd probably give CL 2 stars, but the technician who came out today definitely deserves 5 stars for his nice personality, his patience in exploring the problem from all angles and solving it, and explaining everything to me along the way. read more

If you have any other options, stay away from CenturyLink. It's been nothing but a nightmare. I was paying $47 a month for internet and all was well, until they talked me into adding a phone line. They quoted me $16.47 for a basic line so my monthly total should have been $65...but the actual bill came to $135 (which I had to pay). I immediately canceled the phone line after demanding to speak to a supervisor. If you get yourself a special rate..DO NOT change or add anything, that is when they screw you over. The don't give you an honest quote and by the time the bill arrives it's too late to do anything. Horrible company, horrible customer service. read more

Total thieves! Did not want to refund our money on a defective Dish Network Box/Receiver. We had the Dish Network technician dispatched to our home out here and they said the box was completely bad. They then called Channel Choice and told them that directly over the phone. At that time they agreed to refund all our money no questions asked. When we went to return the unit they pretended that our conversation and agreement never happened and wanted to be just down right nasty when we asked for a refund as they had ALREADY AGREED OVER THE PHONE TO REFUND OUR MONEY! Thankfully we threatened to go to the Credit Card and Dish Network (As they are a reseller do not trust re sellers of Dish equipment total rubbish) if they didn't do the right thing which FINALLY WORKED after nearly 10 minutes of their back and forth accusations that somehow we were lying etc. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LIARS! If you want Dish Network equipment order it direct from Dish Network as they sent a technician out last week without a charge to us and REPLACED ALL OF OUR EQUIPMENT for free no questions asked! My wife and I finally decided to try Century Link because they are cheaper than Cox internet provider. We were originally going to use Century Link 3 years ago but had so many problems setting up our account with their customer service that we had to go back to Cox. Well, here we go again. To begin my complaint, they started the account under the wrong name. After my wife had to call them, we discovered that it was under the wrong name and they STILL DIDN'T CHANGE IT back to the correct name! Or they did but it didn't save. Either way, it doesn't matter. If you can't get your info correct because you have a poor computer setup, that's not my fault. It's yours (Century Link's). Next issue with Century Link: They asked us if we wanted to rent their modem for $9.99 a month or purchase it for $100. We told them we like the modem, we'll purchase it. So they connected us with the modem they sent to us (and told us we could return with NO SHIPPING if we aren't going to use it). Well, we found out a few days later that we can't actually keep this modem because it was a rental modem (brand new out of the box). They told us we need to order the $100 modem and, after they ship it and we receive it, we will need to mail back the modem they first sent to us for a $15 shipping charge! I'm not done yet! THEN we decided to bundle our Century Link package because it would save us money since we use their services, directv services and common cell phone service provider. All we would have to do is go to their website and sign up for E-bill (whatever that is). It doesn't matter. There wasn't a link ANYWHERE for E-billing. C'mon PEOPLE!!! You are dealing with the public! Not everyone can figure out these things when you give key words that AREN'T key words! So, we call customer service for help. Customer service had to send me to Online Chat Service because he didn't know what he was doing. After finally connecting with a representative via chat, they gave us a number to call to connect us to someone else who would be able to help us. That person couldn't help us so we had to get back on chat. The chat rep sent us to a level up (or whatever, I don't give a hoot at this point). So, warning the first rep that "this is the SAME reason we decided to cancel out of Century Link the first go-round about 3 years ago" and "please make this next connection the final transfer," she sent us to another rep who asked us for the 10th time to verify our info. And so I did. This last rep said, "I'm sorry, but that's not the name on the account. I cannot help you today. You'll need to either go get the account holder or call Century Link Customer Service. I explained to the lady that "We are the account holders. My wife, the account holder, is sitting right here. Also, hers IS the name of the account." She read off the name of the account holder. YEP! They still haven't changed from the incorrect name that was originally mistyped from the beginning!!! But this lady didn't care that it was only a few letters off. She insisted that she can't help me until the name is fixed via Customer Service on the 1800 line. So, my wife calls Customer Service and, after waiting a few minutes to get through, they hung up on her. She's peeved, to say the least. I let the lady on chat know that we were hung up on. I also told her they need to get their act together or I will yelp this, facebook it and report it to the better business bureau. Being stuck and passed back and forth for an HOUR AND A HALF is RIDICULOUS!!! She disconnected with me. Literally five minutes before she was apologizing and now she disconnects. I didn't curse. Nor did I use abusive language. Yes, I used caps and my spelling was flying out the window but I definitely didn't use the type of language I should have been using at an HOUR AND A HALF of insane customer service. We did finally get through to someone who could help us. Again, an hour and a half later. We are going to try to stay with these people because they are cheaper than the other option. We'll see how long though. read more

Be careful with CenturyLink promotions. They end without warning and once the bill is "generated" they cannot/will not change it. I got the short end of the stick twice in two months because my promotion ended and my bill was generated before I started a new promotion. read more

Century Link...which century? The only reason we have Century link is that it is the only provider in our area. However, we are working on changing this monopoly. The highest up we can obtain is 12mbs! Other providers offer 20mbs for the same price that we pay for our 12mbs. On top of that, they were charging us for 12mbs service and providing only 7mbs or less. That was recently corrected to less than 10mbs when they corrected an error at the service point in our area. I am a very fair old man.. these CENTURY LINK JERKS have screwed up my flawless credit by charging me for tv that I never ordered trying to bill me for direct TV, saying they can't fix it . I haven't had tv in 12 years these people are ridiculous I have been fighting this for almost a year an nobody will take care of anything.. the sent it to collections for $293 for tv I don't have and never ordered.. they admitted it wasn;t even my account yet haven't done anything to resolve it. my credit has dropped almost 100 points , don't even get me started on their internet. 8 days without. lost a ton of money as we make extra income online. my data plan on cell phone went over 10 fold cost me $hundereds of dollars.. their response after finally getting it fixed... they will credit me the whopping $15 for the days I was out of service.. 2 hours on the phone later the said the can do one month @ $40. this is by far the worst company on the planet for customer service. read more
