We had an absolute 10/10 time at Channing Daughters with Anthony as our guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and generous! We really enjoyed every moment. Went with a group of 7 ladies. We called ahead, made the reservation request online, and confirmed all on the morning of the wine tasting. It was great and truly worth the minimal effort to reserve the time (a demanding group of 7 arrived before us without a reservation, but Channing Daughters honored our time and took us before this other group). Be respectful of the winery and be rewarded! Make the reservation so everyone can enjoy properly. Will not be returning to this winery. I made reservations on Tock for tent seating. I approached the hostess and she asked if I had a reservation and I replied yes and was seated. Did not ask for the reservation name. My party arrived exactly on time for the reservation. My waiter was a nice gentlemen and attentive. Food was okay.. overpriced for packaged food. There was barb wire in front of grapes so can't take great pictures. The reason why I will not go back is because I wrote an email explaining I was charged for being a "no show" for reservation. I explained they never asked for my name. They wrote a passive aggressive email saying they will give me a refund but " as a courtesy because I was "late". Which I was not. Just not what I was expecting for how much I spent there. read more

I enjoyed the tasting experience, especially with our host Oscar who made it more enjoyable with his crafty drink creations! The crowd picked up near closing hours, but it didn't feel overcrowded and we were still able to walk around, play with the sweet vineyard dog and find a seat until our next round of wine! A little hard to find since the gps takes you to a different place but when we found it we were impressed. You drive down this long dirt road surrounded by the vineyards. Once inside we got the tasting and it was cool to hear from the winemakers about how each was made. We ended up buying a few bottles. It was a great afternoon at the winery. Hidden away on a side road in Bridge, this winery is a must see. We came in September (sorry for the delayed review!) for a full-on wine tasting and mini tour. I bought the bottle on a whim, and I wasn't let down. The service is great. Informative, personable, and you can tell they take pride in their product. The very essence of Long Island wines and wineries. I came here for a nice afternoon tasting and walk around the vineyard. It was a perfect day so it was absolutely lovely to walk around and take in the surroundings with all five senses. I absolutely adored their Scuttlehole Chardonnay and a case was very affordable. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed tasting there collection of Vermouths. It's not a variety i have ever really dug into besides using it as an occasional mixed drink ingredient. But they really opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking about Vermouth. I have since bought many bottles of wind from Channing Daughters as gifts and house party offerings. It is my local go-to wine. I like to use it for non-NYers to show how Long Island wines should not be overlooked! read more

Our favorite winery to visit and our favorite wines. Off the beaten path and well worth the ride. The staff shines. They will meet your level, be it newbie or refined palette. Warm and open...no snooty wine snobbery here. The wines are fun, fresh takes on grapes with something for every taste and something new for even the most bored of tongues. From simple and clean to multiple layered big tastes. There's something special about the earth these grapes grow in that makes these wines unique. Along with white, red, and the best rose on the planet, they have a type they call "orange" which has become our favorite. We've never had a wine here we didn't like. We visit in the off season for more quiet attention but sadly we miss out on wandering the beautiful grounds and enjoying the sculpture garden. Join the wine club like we did and enjoy "care packages" every other month at home plus you get to sample tasting fee free any of the wines any time you are in the area plus invitations to special functions throughout the year. read more

Went for a tasting. Left with great memories. Tastings were delicious. The vermouth was the big hit. Heard great stories about the winery. All and all a great way today spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon with friends. Only tip...if you have kids and decide to visit a winery...make sure they can just chill. I visited Channing Daughters winery forewarned of all the mixed reviews. I am glad I gave them a chance to experience it for myself because we ended up having a marvelous time here. While it's not as large or as fancy as the other vineyard in the area the wines are just as good. Not only that but the price comparison is significant. I think much of the fun had to do with our wonderful sommelier Kelly. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. He kept us entertained with wine facts and laughs. I enjoyed about 75% of the wines that were served to us, particularly the whites and roses. Water and crackers are served in between to clear your palate. You can have your tasting indoors or outdoors if space permits. Indoors is air conditioned but the door is open so it's not that much cooler inside but there is shade. There's some shade outside but the furthest tent on the lawn does not provide any shade. It was a beautiful day so we opted to go outside but in the shaded area. There's not much exploring you can do in the fields as they are gated up but there's a decent sized patch of lawn and I suppose you can bring a picnic blanket and hang out. Seating is limited. No dogs or smoking allowed. There's also a sign that says no cell phones but it's not really enforced. Overall the vibe is pretty casual and unpretentious even though some ladies dress to the nines like this is a fashion show, you can feel comfortable wearing neat but dressed down apparel like jeans and a nice top. Heels may not the the best idea as you will have to deal with concrete, gravel, and lawn. We had cordial chats with some of the other patrons and they were all friendly. It's not very loud and there's no music. It's a more intimate experience than the other nearby winery (although I only have the wine stand experience to compare it to.) Other fun facts: There's an occasional Yoga session here. They host events where you can volunteer to pick grapes on Sunday morning. Some things that can be improved upon: Perhaps there should be a hostess at the door directing customers to an available tasting stand. Many groups walked in looking confused and wandering around trying to figure out where to go and the bartenders at the stations were already busy with customers. A nice queue of sorts would eliminate the confusion. More seating couldn't hurt or even some stools at the tasting stations. Depending on you drinking speed you could end up standing there for quite some time which makes things slightly less comfortable. If you opt to sit at the bench it's almost like an interruption in the course of your tasting and you will have to walk back and forth for the next round which isn't ideal either. We opted to take a breather and sit on a bench for a few moments and returned to see out spots were taken but we managed to squeeze in to finish our session off. Additionally there are only 2 bathrooms. An extra porto-potty outside couldn't hurt when it's crowded. read more

This is a real delightful winery to check out! The wine tasting experience is truly worth it! They have different wines to taste all the time. They have decent prices and a beautiful view. The air quality here is even amazing. They explain all of their wines perfectly. They tell you an amazing story and what they are about. They opened here in the 1980s and you can see the beauty in the area. They have horses running around next door. The staff is friendly and connect with you very well. Wow. Best way to describe this winery. The wine maker here is a genius. Coming from Northern Virginia where we are inundated with wineries and this might just top all of them. Had a Rosè flight and each one was delicious. The gentleman that helped us was full of wine knowledge and very nice but not over bearing. My friends and I came here during out weekend out in the Hamptons because this was one of the two wineries in the area we were staying in. Channing Daughters Winery was a true gem. It was small with little to no seating but the grounds were pretty, the wine was great, and the friendly service we had were great. Kind of the yin to Wolffer's yang. This is a moderately priced, semi-funky winery. Here was the drill on the day I arrived. Check in and deposit $16 a head with the cash people in the retail area. Get conducted to the wine stands outside in the field. Begin imbibing. I began with the 2014 Sylvanus, To me this was not an auspicious beginning, and the host was honest about the wine. Things picked up with 2014 Tocai Friulano, a perfect quaffing wine to pair with a light meal. The host moved me on to a petillant wine, which was made from the same grape. This was even better. Sweeter and more sparkly than a vouvray. The fresh bottle we opened at home was more petillant, well on the way to prosecco. Quite enjoyable. There's little in the way of food -- just crackers, so I took a moment to walk around the grounds, an activity I recommend to you. There are some benches and some wooden sculptures, and you're in a beautiful vineyard. I returned for red wines, The Rosso Fresco was of note, but it was surpassed by the Blaufrankisch. I took that one out into the vineyard to savor. Maybe I should have bought more than one, to have some to lay down. As my significant other was losing patience, I quickly downed the Vervino Vermouth offered at the end. Not sure why I bothered, as the I would rather have held on to the taste of that Austrian varietal red. An enjoyable experience. Came here on our way to Montauk for a little refreshment and just buy that one visit I can tell you I'll be back. A really beautiful setting and great weather definitely added to our experience. My friend and I came here for the wine tasting which was supposed to be six sampling. We took our glasses outside and made our way to the tent for our first sip. Not only were we given plenty of information about each wine it's grapes and it's origin,but we were even more than we bargained for in the form of three more wines to try, even a vermouth. This winery was very different than most. There was nowhere to sit down and enjoy your wine. No bottles and no glasses to go outside. You could only stand outside and do a tasting. So it wasn't relaxing at all. We go to vineyards just about every weekend and I probably wouldn't return here but we did LOVE the vervino vermouth. read more

Interesting winery. I liked the selection that we tried here better than at the Wolffer Estate Vineyard. I tend to go for reds, so a lot of what they make here is a bit outside of my comfort zone, but that being said I enjoyed most of what we tried. My favorite was one of the Petillan Naturel. I think it was the Rosato, but I don't remember off hand. The vermouth was not my favorite, but I don't typically drink vermouth that isn't in cocktail form, so who knows. I appreciated the informality at Channing Daughters. We were chatting with the staff and making jokes. I also liked the artwork around the tasting room, and I'm a fan of the upside-down tree sculpture that was used for the label. read more

It was very pretty outside where you do the wine tastings. The second we walked in it wasn't the best vibe. I got a very snobby feel from the staff. Like I'm sorry, I like wine tastings and pretending to be classy as I swirl and sniff my glass, but I'm down like a full 2 bottles by now, so let me live and do my thing, please. Also, this is one of the more pre set wineries. You pay a flat rate and they give you a set of wines to try, it's not a "pick and choose" your own like most of the wineries out East are. read more

This was my first time visiting a winery and I have to say that I can't find much fault with sipping wine with friends overlooking a vineyard in the middle of the afternoon. Because we were such a large group and we hadn't called ahead, they wouldn't let us do a traditional tasting. However, we purchased a few bottles to sample and they kept our glasses topped off as we sat out on the patio eating snacks and chatting. I only managed a glass and a half of the rose before I started getting glassy eyed, so I didn't taste a wide enough range of their wine to judge. The rose was not excellent, but it was drinkable. (Let's be real-- I only like rose because it's pink!) The bottles our group sampled ranged from about $15-$30. I hate to give this place 2 stars, but have to because of the woman serving us. I'd give her a 0, but the place 3-4 stars. She poured tiny tastings and stared us down waiting for us to finish so she could pour more. We asked questions and her responses were unknowledgeable or maybe she was just bored with us? She seemed inconvenienced by us being there. On the bright side, the location is so pretty and cozy and informal (which I love). AND we noticed the two gentleman pourers were giving generous tastings (like OVERLY generous, yum) and chatting with the groups they were serving. We obviously had the bad grape in the bunch. That being said, we bought the Mosaic (white) and Sculpture Garden (red) which were VERY delicious! I'd go back, but definitely avoid the redhead woman server. Oh and side note, LOVED the Wolffer Winery, gorgeous and friendly staff but definitely more expensive. read more
