Kontokosta is by far one of the prettiest places I have ever had the privilege of drinking a glass of wine. In one direction you have a cliff where you get to look down at the beach and water... then if you turn around you get to look back at the main house of the vineyard. It is so vast in the distance and something about the reclaimed wood with red accents just got me going. SO BEAUTIFUL. We were able to walk right up to the counter and try the different options of wine they offered. The staff was super helpful in helping us decide what we wanted. (They had spritz options also!)

This was the most beautiful vineyard I've ever been to on Long Island. The views are stunning. I love that you can walk out to the bluff for an even better view. They have a bunch of tables inside and on the deck. I love that they position a bunch of chairs to look out to the view and relax. They put picnic tables away from the building also. Tons of space and open areas to sit. They had a small menu for snacks. Very pricey but worth it for convenient since I'm pretty sure you couldn't bring your own. The wine was pretty good. I tried a flight but only was able to try some because the rest spilled. It was a very relaxing day. We had our 1 year old with us. They do not allow toys/balls for obviously reasons but there was so much space to move around it was great. Bathrooms were clean, a lot of parking. I would recommend a day here for sure.

Came here with the woo girls (elites you know who I'm talking about) and had a great time. Huge wine list and incredible views. The food menu was slim but it's a winery! I enjoyed my glass of Sauvignon blanc and we took great pics!

Kontokosta Winery is a beautiful and spacious winery within easy walking distance from the town center. The views of the water are absolutely breathtaking. The wine was excellent and the cheese plate paired perfectly. The staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The only downside was that we couldn't buy a bottle to enjoy onsite and had to purchase by the glass, which ended up costing more than if we had been able to share a bottle. We will post more travel guides, photos, and videos from our Greenport trip and other locations at https://ourownpathtravel.com and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@OurOwnPath

This property is gorgeous. It literally is right on the water and you can walk to the edge of the property to see the beach. The wines are definitely more elevated compared to others on the island. The anemometer varieties are fantastic but my favorite was probably the cab franc with its tobacco taste. So good. Food is a la carte which is kind of odd. You pay for cheese, great, but if you want crackers with it, you have to buy that too. You want a second cheese? Extra. Almonds? Extra. When they brought it out we realized why it was so expensive: it looks like they gave us the entire box of crackers and an entire block of cheese! For just myself and my husband it was definitely a lot... We left half the crackers- very wasteful! There has to be a better way... Overall, a lovely spot. Probably the best wines on the island.

The location of the winery is beautiful with a gorgeous view overlooking the Sound. The building is both modern yet rustic with plenty of seating . However, there is a $5 entrance fee and oh boy you get to keep a souvenir wine glass ! No other winery that I've gone to charges an entry fee and their wines are so much better. The wine is average so you are basically paying to enjoy the view ! Go and enjoy some of the other much better vineyards that have delicious wines and great service without this ridiculous entry fee !

This gorgeous winery in the North Fork sits on the edge of Long Island Sound offering breathtaking views of the water in a picturesque setting. The rustic architecture and modern window filled open floor plan design of the air conditioned building allows for a comfortable wining experience without sacrificing views of the lovely vineyard. Fortunately, there was no entrance fee, and it wasn't overly crowded. As we approached the bar area, the bartender warmly greeted us. It was clear he thoroughly knew his wine selection, and after asking about our preferences, he was able to make fitting suggestions. My husband and I ordered a charcuterie to accompany our wine tasting. We opted for a goat cheese trio (cranberry, herbed, and honey), gluten free sea salt crackers, and prosciutto which came at the steep price of $45. The cranberry goat cheese had too much cranberry to easily spread on the cracker. We chose to create our own selection of 4 wines to taste which cost $32 per person for a one ounce pour of each selection. The wine was acceptable to our palates. Afterwards we bought a glass of their anemometer red (a smooth red wine with hints of boysenberry) which was $20 apiece. I would definitely return to this vineyard. While the wine isn't outstanding, it is very good and the location makes for a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The building, its design and overall grounds are spectacular. Gorgeous huge field overlooking the Sound with peaceful breathtaking views. The tasting room is huge and impressive with a gorgeous design aesthetic. It felt a bit pretentious though, as you are charged a $5 entry fee per person, just for walking in. The wine glass that comes with it is a novelty and cheapens the experience. However the wines were decent and we received excellent service.

This was the first winery we visited after getting off the ferry from New London, CT. We enjoyed the wine flight and the views outdoors.

This is the most beautiful winery location on Ling Island. By far! Don't let little things like the wine and slow service get in the way of a wonderful visit. You pay $5 for entry, but that fee includes a $1 glass that "you get to keep" Take the glass, walk outside and enjoy the view. It is spectacular.

Kontokosta Winery offers a unique tasting experience with stunning views of the Long Island Sound--you can even see Connecticut while sipping your wine! We tried the red wine flight (served in quirky shot glasses), and the Cabernet Franc was the standout--delicious and reasonably priced around $35. Beautiful setting, great wine, and a perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery. Definitely check it out if the weather is nice!

Super friendly folks here and some really good wines. We got a couple of flights and then they gave us tastings of their whiskey and 2 other whites. We pretty much had everything they offer. Their whiskey was delicious but decided to skip a bottle today. Grabbed a meat and cheese plate to nibble on and it was big enough to take it to the next 3 stops as well. The views are amazing and if you walk out to the water you can see Connecticut over the sound. Beautiful.

The place is beautiful with a great view of the water. The staff were very knowledgeable and willing to educate you about their wine options. I was pleasantly surprised with the food options. Take a quick walk towards the water for some breathtaking views!

We enjoyed the Field Blend Wine and the great atmosphere both inside and outside. We also took a nice walk out to the water's edge.

    Yes

    Is this Vineyard dog friendly?

No, dogs aren't allowed on the property. We went on a very quiet early spring day with hardly anyone there and still couldn't bring our dog in or on the property.

I love the 2018 rosé, and this time we tried a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon, which went down so smoothly.

It is also a perfect winery for larger groups as they have an indoor and outdoor tasting area. This place is just beautiful. We sat on the porch looking out over the vineyard like we were in the Alexander Valley. Honestly, we have done the North Fork trail more but will now be a SOFO family as well. Helene and I both enjoy a good Chardonnay and "Wolffer's Pearl" is great, A chard with tremendous body and depth. We had the honor of being on a European Wine Cruise with the wine maker. Roman Roth [and his wife]. He had multiple wine dinners where we had an opportunity to try some of these new red and white wines and really took a liking to them. We joined their wine club as soon as we returned home so we'll have more to enjoy during the year. Let me be honest... I have been drinking and collecting Roman Roth wines for years now and have always enjoyed them. The team that took care of us was amazing. Nothing but smiles and service. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to experience this wonderful visit. The only downside is that the drive from mid-island to the Hamptons can get a little long. This was a small price to pay for the wonderful experience we had. KUDOs to the team at Wolffer Estate Vineyard

My wife spotted this rustic looking facility, so I turned in and immediately got a good feeling about it. The owner greeted us and made us feel entirely welcome. We sat down and looked at the tasting choices and had a fairly easy time filling up our dance card with 5 selections. We had the place to ourselves at first, and spent time getting to know Perry, a woman whose family has owned the operation since 1974. She said most of the buildings date back from the mid 1859s. Entertainment was also provided by 20 chickens (17 hens and 3 roosters). The wines were wonderful and lovingly explained by Perry. We left with a red and a white, and a feeling that this had been a very special hour.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when it came to explaining the wines and guiding tastings. They were attentive when needed but also gave plenty of space, which added to the laid back vibe. The wine was pretty good overall. It may not be the most standout vineyard on the North Fork, but it is absolutely worth a visit if you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable wine tasting experience.
