Locally owned restaurant with bustling business. It's intimate but relatively spacious on the inside. Definitely ask for the Chinese menu - it has the more authentic options. Don't fear: it still comes with English translations + pictures! Food came out incredibly quickly and it seems our server was also the owner, so obviously the service was extremely prompt and friendly. The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but everything tasted decently authentic for the region and the Chinese menu offers lots of options. I was surprised that despite almost everything being red when they came out, nothing was too spicy (and trust me - I'm not that good with super spicy food). They give a big bowl of rice for every entree you order (not counting noodles/fried rice dishes), and charge $1.50 for every additional bowl you order. Unless you ordered less entrees than the number of your party, you should be good with the rice they give. Try their fried frog legs and mapo tofu, they were the best dishes we ordered!

The People's Choice Winner.... 9 years running!! I would absolutely agree with the recognition the locals have given this excellent restaurant. Our meals included the Hot and Sour Soup, the fabulous Shrimp Rangoon, Generals Tso's Chicken, my favorite the Chop Suey and a dish that only people that have lived in Missouri probably know about, the "Springfield Style Cashew Chicken." We all ordered Hot and Sour Soup. The waitress asked if we had ever had it here, because it is a "little different" she said. She brought out a sample for us to try. It was different. It was very good, but I would call it Hot and slightly Sweet Soup! The Shrimp Rangoon was the most crispy, delightful wontons we have ever had! The Chop Suey was perfect. The General Tso's Chicken was a little different. The sauce had some tomato base to it. It was not oily or syrupy, a really nice flavor. Then there was the Springfield Style Cashew Chicken. This Dish originated at Leong's Tea House in Springfield, MO. Instead of stir-fried chicken, it is deep-fried then covered with a sauce made from chicken stock, soy sauce and oyster sauce, topped off with cashews and green onions. My wife and I had this at Leong's in Springfield, on one of our first dates, many, many years ago. Wow! Pleasant memories! Outstanding! Nice, friendly staff providing very good service.

If you are looking for Authentic Chinese Food, this place is the best place in town! "Best crab rangoon" They have 2 Menus -- One is the typical chinese menu. Wonton soup, egg drop soup, eggrolls, fried rice. Orange chicken etc. If you ask for the Authentic Menu... They have varieties to choose from... Real Chinese/ Spicy Eggplant with pork is my husband's favorite (No 12) Fish with Napa Cabbage and spicy sauce is one of my favorites (No 11) Love their Noodle Dishes The staffs are very friendly and the service is good! Enjoy!!!

Can't believe I've never reviewed this place. What can I say, consistently the best Chinese food in town. They have an authentic menu as well as the Americanized version. The staff are quiet, hard working and friendly. Kiki runs the place standing at the register most of the time. She works all the time. What a sweetheart. All of my family come here from Marble Hill, Fredericktown, and us From Cape Girardeau. Is the food good? Just watch the take out biz that they do. Tip: Try the eggplant and pork from the Chinese menu. Waves of pork goodness will wash over your being! Eggplant is so tasty. One of my go to favorites.

They are quick, and accurate. Lots of decorations made of money: they are wealthy. Lots of good food for the price.

Although not a buffet, they have a great selection on their menu. Food is freshly prepared and always satisfying.

Service was good. Food was below average and smelled very bad. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. I wouldn't recommend this place.

This place sucks ... I heard good things but if you want real Chinese, you have to go to Chinatown or something :) The food is too greasy!

Best Chinese in town. They have an authentic Chinese menu if you ask. I like the eggplant and pork. Also, the egg stir fry is outstanding.

I remember when Saffron first opened in Cape Girardeau. At the time, I wasn't really a Thai food…read moreeater, so I always stuck with the chicken fried rice. Eventually, I branched out and tried the chicken pad Thai, and now those are the two dishes I tend to go back to. This place isn't just good because of the food--it brings back so many childhood memories. I used to come here all the time with my mom, and going to Saffron was kind of our "fancy lunch." I would always beg her to get the drunken noodles because, as a kid, I thought the name was absolutely hilarious. Saffron is definitely nicer than your typical Asian fast-food restaurant, and one of the things I've always appreciated is that even when I order something as simple as chicken fried rice or chicken pad Thai, it doesn't feel greasy. The food has a nice, clean flavor, and the pad Thai has a great crunch on top that I really enjoy. I don't really have anyone to go here with anymore, but every now and then when I'm in town visiting my parents, I make a point to stop by. Tonight, I called my order in ahead of time, which is really convenient because I can literally do it while I'm driving on the interstate and then swing by to pick it up. It was the perfect meal tonight--not just because it was good, but because it brought back a little piece of my childhood. If you like Thai food, I definitely recommend giving Saffron a try. And if you've been going for years, you might just find that the food comes with a side of nostalgia, too.

It's a nice spice level because it's not obnoxiously spicy or in your face but it still makes your nose run while you're eating it. The sushi is awesome too, seems like they switched it to 6 pieces from 8 but still stellar!
