This restaurant was my favorite dinner in Sorrento! They came out to sing music 3+ times and were so fun to sign and dance with. The food was very good. I had the pasta with clams and definitely recommend. The price was reasonable and service was great. Everyone was so friendly!

Come here for some authentic Italian food with excellent service. Everyone was accommodating and gracious. They even taught us some new Italian words. The fried zucchini flower was exceptional and the gnocchi was sold but a burst of flavor. The seafood tasted fresh with the homemade pasta. Added bonus, there is live Italian music to set a great mood while you eat.

    Dessert. Pear ricotta

Both meals were fantastic. The owner was our waiter and had great recommendations. The ricotta pear dessert was the best dessert of our trip.

TavernAllegra is tucked down a cute little alley and is an adorable restaurant with tables on the path, as well as an indoor dining area. We made a reservation after trying to wait for a table the night before and it was packed. Service was great, we were seated outside and brought fresh bread. The tagliatelle alla Bolognese was so delicious, as was the Linguine all'Astice. I had a lot of lobster pasta in Italy, and this was one of my top fave dishes. I didn't love my fried seafood mix, it was just too much and wasn't super flavorful, but I experienced that throughout Italy, not just here. My fiancée loved his segundi of the beef filet with green pepper sauce. I would absolutely recommend this place for lunch or dinner, it's perfect for a stroll to and from your meal and the ambiance is unbeatable in that little alley.

Not easy to find because it is behind the building on the main street, so take the side path to the back. Once there, be ready for a great experience! The owner does a lot of table touches and takes your order, so he can answer questions and make recommendations, if asked. The rest of the staff helps with serving and clearing tables. I ordered the Sorrento Kindness cocktail, which is limoncello and prosecco. It was a nice balance of sweet and tart. My first course was swordfish parmigiana with eggplant, which was mostly eggplant, but I enjoyed it very much! I ordered the Sciatiatelli ai frutti di mare as my entree. It's short cut, flat pasta with mussels, octopus, calamari, and clams, and pieces of fish. It was amazing! I found this place thanks to the Yelp app, so trust the app when looking for recommendtions.

    Best meal in Sorrento

Giuseppe was awesome and the food was amazing! My husband ordered the linguine all' Astice and I ordered the beef cheek in a wine sauce, our favorite meal in Sorrento.

*Warning for Recommended Sorrento Restaurant* We went to TAVERN ALLEGRA in Sorrento. They will serve you a dish of seafood ravioli at the end of your dining experience. We expressed we did not ask for it many times- we don't even like seafood ravioli. It came and we just moved it around the plate, thought it was a complimentary add on since we just got engaged. The Waiter CHARGED US, was very good rude, and wouldn't remove it until we about walked out. DO NOT GO HERE! This is my only negative experience ever in Italy.

We stopped in after lunch for a drink, and absolutely loved it. They said they have a large dinner crowd but lunch is light, and we were one of the only groups around. We sat outside in a narrow alley that was exactly as you would picture Italy to be...narrow streets with bricked walls and clothes lines along the balconies. The staff was engaging and courteous, and they made sure we were come and gave great food recommendations. The wine we had (picture added) was pretty good. It was 38 euros, and was a light red. It was almost to the point of having carbonation, but wasn't so to the point it was distracting. We had an appetizer of Bruschetta, but I have to say this isn't an American bruschetta. This had a cheese base with shaved eggplant and fresh cherry tomatoes. It was the best bruschetta I've ever had. We then had dessert which was something we hadn't planned to get...so glad we did. The best we had was the pear and ricotta cheesecake tart. We also had the lemon tort, which was great, but the pear ricotta was the best. Highly recommend, and it's a great escape from the tourist areas.

The music and service save this place. The ambience was awesome, but the main part of the restaurant, the food was expensive and below average. The octopus was tougher than leather. The ravioli were frozen and the drink was super watered down. So many better places to try in sorrento.

One of the best meals we had in Italy! Giuseppe treated us like family- so kind and gracious. We will make sure to let all our friends know!

    Tavernallegra in Sorrento!!

We had a fantastic dinner... best nochi, lasagna was to die for..., linguine lobster couldn't stop moaning... beautiful people here.. they were wonderful, hospitable... we had live music which was old school & absolutely beautiful. I can't recommend them enough,. You must go. Thank you for your wonderful service!

SCAM!!!!!!!!! RUN!!! Will charge you for seafood ravioli. Told them several times we didn't order, one waiter says that's okay. The waiter with the check tried to force us to pay until we about walked out. Not sure if this scam is geared to only foreigners, but watch out! Run if you get the seafood ravioli! This has ruined my night in Sorrento to believe a family run business would possess such evil to have a scheme like this.

Since it was so hot during our stay in Sorrento, we opted to sit inside. We were guided down a flight of stairs, which led to an elegant dining area that was once the 16th century wine cellar for a former monastery. There is also another flight of stairs that lead up to more seating, and the wine cellar. Once seated, we were handed the wine menu, which listed countless choices. Admitting we were in over our heads, a Sommelier, Geppino, was sent to our table. He was wonderful! Warm, friendly, helpful and extremely passionate about his role. He suggested a 2020 Chianti we thoroughly enjoyed, and which paired well with everything we ate. We were so taken with his hospitality and energy, that we took two bottles of wine home with us! My husband ordered the Raviolo for his first course, and the Beef for his second. I chose to hand my selections over to the chef, ordering the "In Our Hands" portion of the Scent of the Land. Everything that came out, was beyond fabulous. Even my husband, who is not a foodie, gave high praise. There was artistry in every presentation. Proteins were melt in your mouth tender and enveloped in savory sauces and tender pasta. Natural fats were beautifully balanced with subtle bits of acidity that left your palette satisfied yet craving for more. You could taste culinary expertise in every bite, with each plate being perfectly portioned. With each serving, it was obvious how much care the kitchen put into each dish. Service was on point, with staff constantly circling the restaurant, watching to see if anything was needed. They were friendly and engaging, and made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Il Buco served up some of the best food we have ever had. True craftmanship from beginning to end.

The chef's starter was not my favorite, very mushy textures for the burrata esque one and the octopus one, but the potato one was fine. The bread basket with an assortment of breads is delicious. The Giglio pasta with salmon comes moving which is cool, but it was also very unique and good. The catch of the day was solid. The gnocco was great, but also my vegetarian family got the dish modified so who knows what it was supposed to taste like actually lol. The tiramisu was very different but good and the tiramisu espresso martini was out of this world tbh

The atmosphere is gorgeous and a reason to visit in itself. We started with mozzarella and tomato, and some fried calamari. They give you about a pound of mozzarella, it was insane. It was the only time on my vacation that I felt uncomfortably full and had a stomach ache because we felt like we had to finish it, ha! The menu is absolutely huge which is definitely a red flag, and I even still, nothing was calling out to me. I ended up going with the lamb chops with a green salad and fried zucchini. The lamb tasted good but there was a lot of fat. The salad was literally just a bowl of iceberg lettuce with no other toppings and no dressing, and the fried zucchini never came. The server also didn't return to the table until we were done so I couldn't let him know. This is a huge restaurant with too much menu items making it hard for waiters to get to their tables in a timely manner, and even harder for the chefs to be able to put effort and care into every dish. I knew the reviews beforehand so I didn't have high expectations and therefore wasn't disappointed. If you want to visit for the ambiance and not the food, you should. Make sure you walk up to the lemon garden after dinner, it is beautiful.
