    Seafood pasta

first place we ate at after checking into airbnb. It was sooo good and a perfect start to Sorrento. We got the tuna tartar and fried calamari and fried shrimp then seafood pasta. Everything was so fresh. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table and they gave us white wine while we waited. Would recommend them! This had the perfect view of the water.

Great service and beautiful views. This was our first meal in Sorrento. Food was fresh and tasted amazing. The catch of the day was Sea Bass and it was cooked to perfection and filled with flavor, yet it was also done so simply. My wife got the Octopus and another great entree.

Had the opportunity to dine here for an anniversary dinner with my wife, here are a few takeaways I have based off my experience: Service - the restaurant was booming when we arrived (around 7/7:30pm). We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait and it took maybe about 10/15 mins for us to get seated. The staff was a small team of about 4/5 people but they did their best to move quickly to make sure everyone enjoyed the experience. If we needed anything, they were quick to act on the request and even gave us wine as a thank you to pass the time while we waited. Ambiance - the restaurant is literally right off the water, so if you are looking for a location to watch the sun set over the water, this and a few other shops along the pier are prefect for that. Because of this reason, most of the seating is outside, yet there is an option to sit inside as well, which is something to keep in mind if you want to get seated quicker and maybe have a larger party. Food - now for the most important thing, the food. I thought the dishes were just okay, not anything over the top, but still good enough to be enjoyable. There was a moment when I first got my food (lobster and pasta) that I realized the noodles weren't cooked all the way. I mentioned it to the waiter and she had them cooked again. After that change, the food tasted much better, but if I'm being honest, I don't think it was worth the wait or the price. If you're in the area and it's not as busy, I would suggest getting it a try to decide for yourself. But if you're looking for an experience that will blow you away and get seated quickly, I would suggest trying another spot. Also! In regards to payment- I would recommend paying with cash when you go. Our meal came out to $70 and I paid with card, yet when I checked my bank account I was charged $75 dollars. I'm not sure where the additional fees came from or why they weren't disclosed, but would definitely recommend paying with cash so that error can be avoided in the future.

We had dinner here but weren't really impressed. While I liked our server, I found the staff to be a bit pushy with ordering drinks, food, sides, etc. Something that also left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth was watching them recycle the leftover bread on the table for the next party... are you so cheap that you can't use a set of new bread?? We ordered the grilled catch of the day (sea bream) along with a grilled mixed seafood. The grilled mixed seafood is better value as it includes a half sea bream, along with mahi, squid, and one langoustine. Honestly, we found the grilled seafood to lack flavour... a bit of salt would've been amazing, but there were no shakers available on the table. That said, the fish was quite tender and didn't have any fishiness. Prices were okay for the area but not cheap.

Porta Marina is a wonderful little seaside cafe in Sorrento Italy While staying in Sorrento, I wanted to try a restaurant close to the water, and Porta Marina seemed very popular. We walked near the front of the establishment and were immediately greeted by the staff. She quickly found us a table, brought us drinks and took out orders. I chose the linguine with lobster and was pleasantly surprised. I imagined that the dish would be linguine with some bits and pieces of lobster. It was actually a whole lobster. Fantastic! The food was excellent and the staff was warm and friendly. Porta Marina is a great choice if you decide to dine near the harbor.

We read about Porta Marina on Yelp while in Sorrento and decided to eat there after returning on a ferry from Capri. While it took us quite a while to walk here from Marina Grande, it was well worth it. We had the Sea Bass, swordfish, mussels and a pasta dish with mussels, clams, squid and shrimp. Local wines were very good. Yum. Very friendly staff. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had. It was worth the walk!

During our time in Sorrento we only had one night we didn't have dinner reservations. After a quick search on google, looking for something besides pasta, we came across Porta Marina. It is a decent walk down to the docks- we opted to walk down the winding walkways. Not sure if you can take the elevator down which is more in the center part of town and then walk over. But the walk was worth it for the view alone. We lucked out and were seated right away (though by the time we left there was a line), right at the edge of the water. It was a bit of a windy night so we had to be creative to use items to hold the table cloth down, but the weather calmed down as dinner went on. We started with the clams and mussels which were cooked perfectly, and tasted so fresh and delicious. There was also plenty of bread brought to the table which was perfect for soaking up the broth from the shellfish. For the main course I had the fried catch of the day which was Sea Bream- it's a mild white fish and was nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My husband had the seafood risotto- which was a bit of a repeat of our appetizer, since it also contained mussels and clams, but it also had fish, shell on shrimp and calamari. We finished by sharing a lemon dessert which was layers of cake with a lemon frosting/pudding on top. This was a great meal in Sorrento, with fresh seafood, fast service and a beautiful view.

The best dinner we have had so far in Italy! This restaurant run by a family fisherman was recommended by our local guide, and it did not disappoint. The seafood dishes are especially fresh and delicious. The mixed seafood appetizer, tomato salad, seafood spaghetti, mixed seafood grill, and fried anchovies were all good to excellent. It was a little far from our rental apartment, but definitely worth the walk. Forgot to mention that the prices are very reasonable. Our total bill came to $108 for 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 3 main courses, and a side salad.

We had a great meal at Porta Marina while in Sorrento. We arrived around 7 and it got busy quickly. Service was kind, the food was incredible with great prices. I would definitely recommend stopping here while in Sorrento for a delicious casual meal.

Delicious mozzarella and tomatoes followed by grilled swordfish and an excellent house white wine. We sat along the walkway and enjoyed the harbor view. A family owned business were we caught glimpses of 4 generations. The service was excellent, we were well attended and not rushed.

Delicious food, great view! I got the lobster pasta, delicious! Family run business, staff was very attentive. Didn't have to wait long, and we enjoyed our first night in Sorrento :)

The fresh catch of the day seafood is always on point at this family owned restaurant... We ate here 3x during our stay in Sorrento.. It was sooo delicious and on our second visit they remembered us from our first and on our 3rd meal there they already know what our choice of drinks were... so attentive and truly a nice lunch or dinner spot by the waterfront overlooking Mt Vesuvius... Nice ambience to have a sunset dinner and nightly a couple of friends were bussing and playing such a good vibe music (not related to the resto but they were playing by the walkway for diners to enjoy a good music... Don't miss to get the mussels to begin your meal or for sharing...

My absolute favorite meal in Positano! You have to have the lemon delight there! It's the best we had and we tried it at 4 or 5 different places. After we had it there we were disappointed everywhere else! The mussels were so fresh that they tasted sweet. Absolutely divine food and atmosphere!

Not only was it a wonderful surprise to end up dining right by the water, but even with a line out front, we somehow got incredibly lucky and were seated on the patio completely by chance. I noticed what looked like the owner (or perhaps the general manager) walking around, checking on guests, and helping with service, which added such a warm, authentic touch. Like many restaurants by the water in Italy, the seafood here is incredibly fresh ~ and this place is no exception. We ordered the seafood platter, grilled vegetables, and ravioli with marinara sauce. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious, right down to the bread. We also enjoyed some Prosecco, which paired perfectly with the meal. The view was stunning, and the whole restaurant buzzed with lively, happy energy. I would definitely return ~ not only because it was surprisingly affordable, but also because restaurants like this, with their true authenticity and old-world charm, are my favorite. One small note: the bathroom is on the second floor, so if you're older or have mobility issues, just keep in mind there's a set of stairs to climb. But that's very common across Western Europe. Fun fact: This beautiful little spot in Marina Grande has some real cinematic history. Sofia Loren and Vittorio De Sica, while in Sorrento filming Dino Risi's famous 1954 movie "Pane, amore e..." (Bread, Love, and...), actually sat at the tables of Trattoria Emilia. How amazing is that?

Having visited multiple places in Italy and Sicily the last time, this place stood out as one of the favorite spots on our trip. Of course we had to stop by again, and we were not disappointed. When in Sorrento, lemon pasta is a must, but I have the say that the true star was La Genovese pasta, which was recommended by our server. My husband still liked lemon pasta best, which means you really can't go wrong. Their bread was also delicious, particularly the white bread and the breadsticks, and they give you balsamic vinegar and olive oil for it. Considering most of the bread we had in Italy was surprisingly disappointing, it's exciting to eat somewhere that the food is good from start to finish. They also gave us one scoop of limoncello and one scoop of lemon gelato for dessert. Both were delicious, but my favorite was the lemon gelato. This is our second time back, and we would not hesitate to eat here again the next time we're in Sorrento. Servers were also friendly and helpful. The food does take a while, but that goes to show that it all is freshly made. This place is great whether it's for a casual dining experience or for date night. They also have free WiFi, just ask them for the info. I love that it's also a family establishment, and family members work at the restaurant. I'm already looking forward to my next visit here.
