Local wine and pasta with seafood

The food was amazing, would definitely recommend to anyone I know going to Sorrento. The service was surprisingly fast. We got our food within minutes of ordering. We ate outside and got an ocean view table.

After Rome and Naples (with lodgings and food of varying quality) the fam landed in Sorrento (which I knew nothing about). For us Yanks I might describe the coastal town as a mix of Cape May with a dash of the Hamptons (with maybe a splash of... Cuba?!). Da Emilia's was the Mrs.' "must try" pick... eating outside, with a stunning view of the bay, perfect springtime weather and... your lungs filled second-hand smoke (damn you, Europe, still thinking cigarettes are cool). Seafood-heavy (of course!) menu - we got a bit of everything... Calamari (not the breaded/fried kind, that's for sure) Mixed seafood risotto Spaghetti with clams Gnocchi with clams ...you name it. Easily the best dinner (so far) while in Italy. Portions weren't that big (wish they were!), the craft of (white) wine was excellent, the cost was more than decent. The staff (who were super cool) then recommended the perfect place for a dessert nightcap (Raki) - which was another 5-star place, too. Bonus: the casual walk to/from Da Emilia was about as postcard-perfect as you could imagine. (I'd retire in Sorrento in a heartbeat, that's for sure.)

The atmosphere was lovely, the service very good, the restaurant was busy but they kept up with everyone. The mussels with lemon very good and the homemade pasta fruiti de mare.

Emilia is a charming restaurant located right on the water in Sorrento. While seated, you have all the ambiance of sitting along the shore, and the charm of looking up at the city. Our dinner here was our first dinner in Sorrento and it definitely set the time for a relaxing few days on the coast. We started with a seafood variety appetizer that was fresh and delicious. It featured calamari, salmon, sardines, clams, and more. I followed it up with the pasta with clams, and was not disappointed! The pasta was delicious and had a light but flavorful sauce. Service was prompt and kind, and we had a great night here. I would definitely go back!

Great seafood at a reasonable price. Wonderful vibe. Would recommend! We waited to get a table on the water but they also have tables on street side.

Dinning pavilion over the water

I'm writing this review from the perspective of dining at Trattoria da Emila during our pre-COVID visit to Sorrento. We had an apartment in Sorrento (about 5 minutes from the train station), and our landlord recommended da Emila to us. We decided to walk there for Sunday pranzo (lunch or early dinner), which was about 30 minutes away down in Marina Grande. There was no wait to be seated in the pavilion over the water for four of us plus a toddler. The environment was very casual, and seating was like eating at picnic benches. Our server was friendly and patient, and she parked the stroller out of the way. We ordered vino locale (a litre of local red wine), and perused the menu. For antipasto, we had antipasto di mare. This was a generous selection of calamari, seppia and other seafood. We then enjoyed spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams), melanzana alla griglia (grilled eggplant), pesce del golfo "paranza" (mixed fried local fish with squid and shrimp), and cozze al pomodoro (mussels in tomato sauce with linguine). Everything was quite good, and worth the walk. I hope that they survive the current pandemic and we can dine here again in the future.

Beautiful little gem right on the water in Sorrento. Started the meal off with calamari and a plate of mozzarella with prosciutto. They also gave complimentary bread. That was the freshest and juiciest mozzarella I have ever eaten. The prosciutto was so delicious. And the calamari was also out of this world! Massive pieces served to be shared amongst the four of us. I ordered the gnocchi and I can say I have never been served just a ginormous plate of gnocchi in my life. It was delicious. The clams and gnocchi was also very yummy! My friend ordered the ravioli and WOW. Five massive pieces to the point she couldn't finish the last piece. So good! We finished off with tiramisu. Sooo good! The whole meal was an experience and did not disappoint. And it was so affordable! Worth checking this place out, especially during sunset time for the gorgeous colors in the sky.

Good restaurant but a long wait to sit overlooking the water. So much seating but there will be a super long line to sit there. We wait about 20 minutes but by the time we sat down there was a line of around 20 people waiting when there was other seating available with no view. The food was good! Fish was good with the lemon but as always tough to pick around all the bones. Caprese was fresh and the homemade pasta was amazing! Not sure if I would come back solely for the food but it is a good view if you are willing to wait.

Spaghetti and lobster

We had a large group and arrive a little before 7 pm and had no wait and sat right by the water. Our server was so friendly and accommodating! By far one of the most fun dinners we had. The wine, food and dessert were fantastic! Put this restaurant high on your list.

The first time we went to Italy I asked my friend what she would have done differently when she went. She quickly said "stay in Sorrento longer" so we did. BEST DECISION EVER! One day we walked down to Maria Grande and found Da Emilia's. We saw the fishing boats in the harbor and knew this was probably dinner. We didn't hesitate and decided to have a quick snack and so glad we did. The view was phenomenal!

Antipasto di Mare

I love this restaurant at sunset. This restaurant just situated at the Marina Grande fishing village at Sorrento. The setting is really beautiful. I spent a romantic night with my wife. You can see kid playing, people chatting and relaxing, fishermen work on the net. Our restaurant just off the water. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This place is famous on their seafood. The waitress did bring the menu, but I notice some of my neighbors table order something that is not on the menu. So, I suggest you ask what is not on the menu and how they cook the seafood. We started with Antipasto di Mare. This dish has local catch anchovies, clam, mussels, squid, octopus, local fish, and more. Got to get this dish. Our second dish grilled eggplant. Lightly grilled with extra virgin olive oil. Or last dish is the fried seafood. The shrimp in this dish is the best. Basically the whole head of the shrimp can be eat because they fried to crunchy. If I come back to Sorrento, I will visit them again. Such a fresh seafood. Love the view. Many can be fall in love here. Hint hint. Haha.

They do not take reservations so go early or maybe you'll get lucky... we were and got a table for two very quickly. Delicious and inexpensive house wine. Homemade pasta frutta de mare with octopus, shrimp, and squid was delicious. The pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked. Platter of fish of prawn, sea bass and squid was okay - the squid was very chewy and difficult to eat. The waitress explained it can be that way when it is fresh. We didn't ask, and they did not offer to exchange it. Lemon cake was delicious. The view and atmosphere is top notch. Very causal and homey. *We were told that a trattoria tends to be a family-run good quality food restaurant, so you may want to be on the lookout for those as opposed to pizzeria or ristorante. 5 stars if not for the chewy squid *This review was part of a 10-day eating binge, I mean vacation with my mother. The summary here reflects both of our opinions*

Gnocchi with Clams
Serge G.

this restaurant has been in business since 1947, and is right at the Marina Grande in Sorrento. You gotta get a liter of house wine, and their insalata platter was worth every penny. They're known for their Gnocchi with Clams and Linguine with Clams, both were good, but I wasn't impressed for that kind of price tag when there are better options in Sorrento. Overall, still a solid choice for dinner.

Booked via the Fork for ease and while it may seem like a more tourist-y spot (in the sense that…read morethe leads are always inviting folks walking by in to view the menu)...Naima is LEGIT. We wanted seafood because when in Sorrento...why not opt for super fresh seafood right by the coast?! Our server recommended a really delicious local red that was super reasonably priced and we enjoyed with said red: For Primi -- *Gnocchi alla sorrentina (Sorrento-style Gnocchi): I mean...we kinda had to get a regional specialty right? Gnocchi here is potato based instead. It was SO delicious - still perfect texture. They also served this HOT HOT HOT with melty cheese. So delicious and a really generous portion!! *Spaghettoni alle vongole (Pasta with Clams): Another favorite for us in general so figured a really fresh version could be stellar and it didn't disappoint! This slightly edged out the gnocchi for me flavor-wise, but the gnocchi was dang good so it just goes to show how DELISH this was!!! For Secondi -- *Grigliata mista di pesce (mixed grilled fish - this was an incredible plate of such fresh seafood. There was various fish, a giant prawn, octopus alll grilled & seasoned to perfection! *Swordfish special! -- apparently it was swordfish season and it was a 'fresh catch' and I feel like you could tell! Really lovely and nicely seasoned. Portions were very generous & we were way too full for dessert at this point! So you could probably eat more "American" style here (Just 1 entree instead of our approach), but the menu here is pretty stellar!!!

Saw Naima on Yelp and figured it was worth a shot. Restaurant is modern, with bright decor. Waiter…read morewas working hard! He also helped with recommendations. I had been bit by a crab a number of times at Amalfi earlier in the day. I decided to return the favor and had the excellent crab with squid ink pasta. I will say that the crab was a lot of work, it was also a delicious crab. The squid ink pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Added a second course of a local fish with cherry tomatoes, also delicious. Family enjoyed their dinner as well.
