I've eaten at Brothers BBQ a handful of times and I feel confident enough at this point to tell you about it. Now this is just my opinion, so don't get crazy. Compared to other bbq in the area, I believe Brothers is a winner. The food quality is great, and techniques of prep and cooking are perfectly mastered. The brisket has a flavorful crust and it breaks apart with a fork. The baked beans have all the right stuff to make them excellent. Baked Mac and cheese is BAKED. The chicken falls off the bone and smoked perfectly. Candied yams are perfect and you can actually taste the butter that you're SUPPOSED to bake into it, (they're the only ones who make it right) in my opinion. We ordered an appetizer of "burnt bacon ends", and so much flavor, and fall apart with a fork. The cocktails were potent, so beware . Did I say enough about the food? Even the service was great. One of the owners even swung by to see if we needed anything. If you haven't already gone, go. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, and sometimes has live entertainment. You'll love it. read more

Still, it misses a few foundational beats when it comes to true Southern hospitality and comfort. Atmosphere & First Impressions From the outside, you might easily mistake the restaurant for being closed. The windows make it tough to see in, and on a rainy day with the outdoor seating empty, it feels a bit hidden away. You are greeted by a wonderfully comfortable waiting area featuring plush sofas and a seating bench. I also really appreciated seeing such a diverse crowd of customers dining here, which is especially refreshing to see for this area. Be warned before you walk through the door: bring a sweater. They do not skimp on the air conditioning; they blast it! On the positive side, the bathrooms are immaculate while keeping that traditional, classic BBQ joint feel. Seating & Service When we arrived, I requested a quieter area due to sensory sensitivities. We waited a bit and were ultimately seated right next to the noisy bar. It looked like there was a cozy little nook past the fireplace that would have been ideal, but it had a laptop sitting on it. Even for a Sunday supper, keeping areas like that closed off when a guest needs a quieter space felt like a missed opportunity. Our waitress was working double duty as a bartender, so she was straight to business. She was efficient enough to give us what we needed, but lacking that warm, conversational touch. At the end of the meal, we weren't thanked for coming in but told to drive safely. We were accidentally overcharged for a fountain soda we never ordered. While the waitress corrected it when pointed out, there was an absolute lack of an apology. Taking responsibility is part of the package. The Meal: Highs and Lows The Cornbread: Starting off, the meal kicks off with complimentary cornbread, but it comes with a couple of caveats. Depending on how you were raised, cornbread camps are deeply divided on sweetness. This version is very sweet, crumbly, and honey forward. It is almost tasting like a boxed Jiffy honey mix with some extras. Unfortunately, it was cold and served with ice cold, solid butter that wouldn't spread. If you want more, it's $2 a piece, a detail they really ought to mention upfront rather than leaving it as a surprise. It is nice that they give it complimentary but they are banking on you consuming it and when you get your BBQ you want more but have to pay. It would be nice to be upfront about this. The Meats: The barbecue itself delivers. The meat is smoked nicely. We sampled the pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and sausage, paired with table-side salt, pepper, and just one single type of BBQ sauce available on the table. The Sides & Fixins: The baked beans were good, but the sides could have been much hotter. The collard greens had a noticeable crunch from the stems and consisted strictly of greens without any pieces of pork or turkey mixed in. I liked that it was not too salty for my liking. As for the mac and cheese, it lacked that signature baked cheese crust on top as seen in photos online. Visiting around 5:30pm on a Sunday evening left us wondering if we caught the tail end of things or were served leftover portions. Tableware & Details The tableware leaves room for improvement. Aside from the metal meat trays, everything is served on melamine (plastic) plates rather than real ceramic and you are each given a cloth napkin. Furthermore, guests are only given butter knives, and the cutlery could definitely be elevated to better enjoy the experience - especially to ensure proper access to napkins for a messy barbecue meal. Drinks & Hospitality The Sweet Tea: The sweet tea is sweet and good. However, you are not offered a refill here. For a Southern style spot, not offering a complimentary or even low cost refill on sweet tea felt neglectful and impolite. It's a small touch of hospitality that goes a long way. With roots that spread throughout the south, I have not experienced this even consuming BBQ at home in NY. Other Drinks: Cocktails run around $16 a person (which made neighboring tables wince a bit at $32 for two drinks), but I thoroughly enjoyed a cold Shiner beer straight from Texas. My beer was $12 tall boy and COLD. Ultimately, despite a few missteps with the sides and service, they have the smoking technique down well. True Southern hospitality is about making folks feel welcome, warm, and genuinely cared for from the moment they step in to the moment they leave, and bringing more of that heart to the dining room would elevate this place immensely. read more

Highly recommend getting the bucket of beers that you get five for $20 and grab something off the menu while you're sitting there. Generally, I grab a couple of appetizers to share between for today. We thought we'd go for the platter and sample a little bit of each, but it turns out it's good enough for one person and not much of a sharing plate so we ordered a tray each. We split a 3 meat plate with ribs, pulled pork, and sliced brisket. The ribs were probably the best item - tender but not mushy. Lots of seasoning. Pulled pork was acceptable - I'm not the best judge as I prefer brisket and ribs over pulled pork any day of the week. The brisket I would say was on the drier side. Collards on the side were delish too. I think they have a little something for everyone. If you're craving southern style bbq, this will scratch that itch but probably leave you wanting something a little better. read more

Came in for a family dinner on a Friday night. I really appreciated the hospitality and how welcoming the environment was as soon as we stepped through the door. Decor that fitted the ambiance of a homey feel, tranquil and easy going. Music playing, not too loud so we may have a conversation without yelling. Our server Amanda was polite and informative on the menu. Once we ordered the food came out promptly and everything was delicious. We order a brisket sandwich and the shrimp po poy, the brisket was tender and savory. The shrimp sandwich was fresh and well balanced. The baked beans and Mac n cheese accompanied our sandwiches very well. Everything felt like it was a home cooked meal. Our son really enjoyed the pulled pork and fries (usually y he's a very picky eater). I believe the owner was making his way around the restaurant making sure everyone was good or if anyone needs anything. We really appreciated that because this is the place we have visited where that has happened. Overall we had a wonderful dinner and an even better experience. ZERO Stars for Customer Service I've eaten at Brothers BBQ in New Windsor several times before and always found the food excellent. Unfortunately, my visit today (April 12, 2026, around 3:44 PM) was very disappointing. When my family and I arrived, the young lady at the counter walked away, and we waited about ten minutes. A tall light-skinned gentleman came to the register but completely ignored us while tapping away. After another five minutes of being ignored, we decided to leave and ate at Texas Roadhouse instead. I'm very disappointed in the lack of customer service today -- especially since my previous visits were great. So we've been here a few times and have always had a great experience. Last time we went was probably 2 years ago or more and it's evident the place has slipped a bit. Walking in they were not busy at all, maybe 2 or 3 other tables. We stood at the hostess station and after a minute 2 girls came over and messed with the seating chart for a few minutes - no acknowledgement that we were standing there. Not cool. Finally one looks up and says how many. No hello, no how are you, no thank you for being patient while we ignored you, just how many. So I said 2 and was led to a table. I think I got lucky here as they placed me in front of a fan. The dining room was uncomfortably warm - enough to make me sweat a bit. How they have a restaurant at that temperature with no complaints is a mystery. The waitress came and asked for a drink order. I asked the lady what they had on tap amd looked annoyed and stated, "I have them written down." as she plopped a hand written index card in front of me. Quite tacky and rude in my opinion. At least read them to me if you can't memorize them. Unprofessional and not a good look.... Pretty much the waitress maintained the blah IDGAF attitude the entire meal. But anyway... I got a brisket sandwich and my better half the chopped BBQ sandwich which was SUPPOSED to have cole slaw on it. Guess the cook forgot. My wife is very non-confrontational and didn't tell me until we had left. We both chose Mac n cheese as a side. My sandwich was outstanding! The brisket wasn't fatty and had a delicious smoked flavor. The BBQ sauce on the table was the perfect condiment. Although my wife enjoyed her sandwich she was disappointed about the cole slaw. I tasted the pork off her plate - it was really good. It's a shame they screwed it up on her. I expect more for a 20 dollar sandwich. The complimentary corn bread os the best I've ever tasted. All in all the restaurant was uncomfortably hot with lackluster border line rude staff, but the food is tremendous. I hope my complaints were flukes, because the food is great there. But there are way too many restaurants to deal with the attitudes the staff had and an overheated dining room. Finding a place to eat when you're on the road and have an egg, dairy and gluten allergy is almost impossible. I wish I got the name of the lady who helped us this evening. I ordered 2 burgers from here the other day and was very dissapointed. First, on their website for online ordering it had stated it comes with lettuce tomatoe onion and fries. Once you select it, it then asks you to pick a side and a type of cheese. When I got home I realized the burgers only had cheese on them and no fries, only whatever other side we selected. I called back explaining my confusion about the sides but mostly my upset that the burgers had no topping other than cheese. The girl on the phone was nice and said she would let her mangers know... Then, my mom bit into her burger which she had asked for to be medium well and it was totally rare. I called back once more and the same girl took my number abd said her managers will give me a call back soon. I waited and waited - a whole day and a half and never got a call. The highlights for us were the brisket which was juicy and the fried chicken which was perfectly crisped, highly flavorful, juicy and piping hot because it's freshly prepared on order (almost burnt my fingers!). Whenever we are in the area we always stop in for some great BBQ and friendly service. This location is about an hour from home, but worth the trip. My go-to is the smoked chicken and rib combo, but my real favorite are the sweet potatoes. I have begged for the recipe, but no luck so far. My friend enjoys their smoked BBQ baked beans and potato salad and although her own homemade cornbread is the amazing, we do like the cornbread served here with your meal. I have also purchased their BBQ sauce, which they make for the restaurant. it is so good! The last time we were there the waitress was so engaging and kind . . . it made for a very lovely, delicious meal and visit. Service is very quick and efficient. The place has a very southern vibe and is decorated with a lot of pig/animal merchandise which was cute. Ambiance rate 7/10. My family and I ordered ... 1. Brisket Nachos: - These were good, especially the meat they topped it with was extremely savory and delicious. Rate 9/10. 2. Corn Bread: - This is complimentary. The bread was nice, soft, and yummy. Rate 9/10. 3. Eat Like The Brothers Family Style Barbecue: - This included brisket, pulled pork, fried and broiled chicken, 2-3 full racks of rib, and 3 sides. The pulled pork and ribs were ok, nothing special: rate 7/10. The chicken was seasoned well, and the meat was very savory: rate 8/10. The brisket, however, was the star of the show. It was perfectly juicy, fatty, and meaty: rate 10/10. - The sides were ordered were the mac and cheese, french fries, and potato salad. All which were mediocre. Sides rate 5/10. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our food (about 20 minutes). Service rate 9/10. The atmosphere of Brothers Barbecue is most inviting. The lavender lighting gives you a relaxed feeling and their choice of music was very enjoyable and not too loud. The hostess was very nice in accommodating my family right away and the service was excellent. My parents had the Smoked Brisket and Aunt Edna's Fried Chicken. I had Aunt Caroline's Fried Shrimp, which I cannot believe I did not take a photo. The portion sizes were perfect. The cornbread was a hit, and my parents took some extra for hopefully breakfast, (but I doubt it will survive tonight). Additionally, we took to go a Red Velvet slice, which we were told are made in-house. I was very happy to make this stop on our way home, and with great reviews, it happened. We were seated upon entering and didn't take long for the waiter to come to us. The waiter was actually a bartender, who didn't really have a great personality throughout the whole experience, but it didn't turn off to be rude after all. The place started to fill up within 5 - 10 minutes arriving. Right from the menu, the burger stood out, and I had to go with that. The Brothers Classic was what I went with, coming with fries, because I wanted to stay on the low cost side. It was pretty tasty all around, especially the meat being juicy. I finished fairly quickly and was satisfied. The cornbread we got before our main meal was tasty also. I'd enjoy making this stop again, because there's a lot to provide. read more
