Dole pineapple farm in new hat.
    Michael B.

When in Honolulu, HI. Surrounded by tourists and high dollar shops, I found it a pleasant surprise to find this place in one of the malls there. I was looking for a nice hat and these guys had it all. In a world where I seen some Panama Hats going for $700-$5000. Chapel was able to give me exactly what I was looking for at $99. Considered a bargain. The clerk was nice and quit e helpful.

Nice selection of hats, including some cool "burningman style hats" etc

A shout out to Dustin. Warm welcome into this business right from the start. Attentive, courteous, not pushy... offered his assistance and even went above and beyond in offering suggestions as far as a cool beach to visit knowing we were tourists. Purchased a super cool hat that had a minor issue (sticker left some goo on it) he went out of his way to clean it and try to remove the stickiness on it. Owner really needs to acknowledge his great customer service. Two thumbs up!

I'm not exactly sure what would qualify a hat store for five stars but this was a good store. We actually left with several hats. I thought the ladies hats were very reasonable. One of my friends bought a very fancy looking ladies hat for $79. I got a baseball cap and one of my buddies got a couple of fishing type hats for $29 Quaint little store. Reasonable prices. Friendly customer service.

Millinery at its finest! So many quality choices!

This place is hat heaven. Little hats, big hats, straw hats, Seussical hats, wool hats, caps, beanies, you name it! If it can go on your head, it's probably here! I've always thought Hawaii lacked millinery shops -- most other major cities have hat shops all over the place, so Chapel is a breath of fresh air. It is located at the end of Waikiki on Kalakaua at the corner of the International market place block. Hats are one of those accessories that are functional (most of the time) to shade your face or hide your bald spot and can also give your outfit that finished look. I absolutely LOVE hats and have a growing collection, so coming here is like a toy shop. Chapel has some very high quality high priced pieces and some mid range ones as well. You can find something here for any head. I got a beautiful new straw hat with a ribbon bow for 30 bucks, but I foresee years of use. A bit pricey, but within the average range for decent hats. I know you only have one head...but you can have lots of options to cover it! 0_o 2 of 31 - 31 day challenge!

This review is based solely on my experience with the staff during my visit today…read more I've shopped at Pink Box multiple times in the past and have never had any issues, which is why this experience was disappointing. My mom and I stopped in because she was looking for earrings. She had mentioned before that Pink Box has cute selections at reasonable prices, so we decided to browse. While she was looking at earrings and pointing out styles she liked, I was helping her look through them. For context, I don't even wear earrings since I have large gauges, so I wasn't shopping for myself in that section. Afterward, I moved over to the claw clips and was looking through some butterfly clips to see if they came in matching colors. A sales associate approached us and asked if we needed help. We politely said no thank you and continued browsing. What made us uncomfortable was that after that interaction, the employee remained very close to us and appeared to be watching us the entire time. When we moved to a different area, she followed. Whether intentional or not, it felt as though we were being monitored because she suspected we might steal something. My mom and I both noticed it, and it made the shopping experience uncomfortable. We are paying customers who have visited this store before and have never given anyone a reason to be suspicious of us. I understand that retail employees have a job to do, but there is a difference between being attentive and making customers feel like they're under surveillance. Unfortunately, because of that experience, we didn't feel welcome during our visit.

I was hoping they'd have Snoopy too but none at the moment at least. I was so happy that my husband mentioned this place and we ended up here during our last morning in Honolulu. Definitely worth a stop if you're into kawaii, Japanese goodies and stationery, but also could be worth being aware of which characters are currently featured. A lot of the items, such as their various stickers, are reasonably and fairly priced -- more so than other similar shops. Vivid print quality too. Other items were tad too pricey for me to justify (e.g. $8 for a very tiny thin canvas drawstring bag and other small pouches in the $30+ range).

Shopping in Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My mom was on the hunt for Year of the Dragon shirts for my sister in Colorado, my nephew, and my nieces. We went to Walmart, Don Quijote, Dillingham Shirt Outlet, and Maunakea Street in Chinatown. She found shirts at Jessica's Jewelryand Gifts, but she didn't get a shirt for my nephew's girlfriend. In a panic, mom called me to go back to Jessica's. They were sold out. Only XL gray shirts were left. I entered Maunakea Marketplace, where I had dropped her off the other day, but she didn't walk far enough in... to get to YaFangShi Fashion. On the day before Lunar New Year, I saw many shirts of various colors and different designs hanging outside a shop! Inside, the clothes were neatly folded, and the dresses were hanging for better viewing. OMG... It was like t-shirt heaven! The shop was called YaFangShi Fashion. The friendly owner introduced herself and said that her name was Lian and that she's been here for 24 years! I had passed by often... and even bought a lavender-colored Cony umbrella, but didn't know the name of the shop. Looking around, Lian even had dresses, tops, jackets, footwear, accessories, and pants! I got a navy blue, medium-sized Year of the Dragon shirt for my nephew's girlfriend and gave it to mom to give to her on Lunar New Year. Everyone was happy! Yay! Happy Lunar New Year of the Wood Dragon!
