This review is a long time coming- because I was so angry and sad after visiting this store. Background: my boyfriend and I were in Honolulu during Christmas 2021. We are both professionals from the Bay Area California (I'm a nurse and he's in tech). We walked in the store after walking to the beach, me in a sundress and he was in shorts and a polo. I'm Caucasian while he in Chinese, both in our 30s. I insisted on going inside to shop Kate Spade because I love her stuff. We went inside, were greeted by the store clerk, one store clerk commented that she loved my bag (Kate spade purse) and seemed friendly. Shortly after that I turned to browse and my boyfriend saw the other store clerk whisper to the security guy. There were multiple floors and we went browsing with the security guy following us. And when I mean following I mean once when I turned around I almost tripped on his feet because he was so close. Followed us everywhere in the store. After 5 min I felt uncomfortable and left. I left and was upset, and my boyfriend just shrugged and said it's happened to him lots of times. Being a Caucasian woman this was my first time dealing with this but after talking to some of my other friends with color it happens a lot. I will never ever go back here and honestly I haven't wanted to buy anything Kate Spade since this happened. There was absolutely no reason to follow us so closely in the store. I hope this is a rare occurrence at this store but I have a suspicion that it's not. read more

Let's just say, their Chinese New Year's design motivated me to shop here. Actually, it was my friend who happened to be born on the year of the mouse (mouse is cuter than rat). My daily routine during our stay was to take a mid sunrise walk along the strip down to the aquarium past the zoo from our west Waikiki hotel. In doing this walk, especially in late January, I enjoyed window shopping at the various Chinese New Year's decorations and store show window displays. Well, this one truly caught my eye and my longtime friend popped in my head. Later in the trip, after a relatively late dinner, we walked by here and I decided to make my purchase. There was a t-shirt for the Chinese New Year and, with this being the Year of the Rat, I told the saleslady what I wanted and she helped me. In addition to finding me one from their inventory in back, she offered to wrap it in gift tissue and gave me a decorative gift bag. Perfect, since a box would likely be smashed when packed in my luggage. In all, I was in and out of the store within fifteen minutes (getting, wrapping, and paying). I never felt rushed nor did I rush them since we were merely making our way back to our hotel. Five stars for the CNY design and excellent customer service. read more

I went here last year while walking around because I found their display to be really catchy and cute. I was impressed with the selections and sales so I ended getting 3 bags, 2 for myself and 1 to gift along with a purse strap. Unfortunately this was not the best purchase now that I looked back at my whole experience. In store experience: the sales rep followed us very often. She's nice so I didn't think much but my friend did point out later that it was kind of awkward how we were trailed when we were shopping. Then there were also managers standing there and pretending they are not there. Products: I bought a mini backpack and I was excited about getting a new bag to replace my current everyday bag. The black leather did not hold up very well. Within a few months it was peeling and after much deliberation I reached to the rep who helped me via email. The other mini purse is doing ok with the leather but I realized both locks scratched the gold lock area and it looks beaten pretty fast. I've bought several kate spade bags from the outlet before and was impressed with how well they hold up and decided to get purses from the actual store. Unfortunately the quality is lower and periodically I have issues with the locks not closing properly. Customer service: Summarized as semi awkward initially to bad awkward at the end. The initial trailing experience was not ideal but I was sympathetic because I assumed they experience theft and just had to do their job. When I contacted the rep who helped me originally about the issues with the leather peeling and the lock issues, she told me to come into the store and she will have her manager take a look at it. We made the trip to see what they can tell us. I went in and the experience was not pleasant. I showed her the peeling parts on the mini book bag and the manager said it's part of wear and tear. As disappointing as the quality is, I get it it's classified as "normal" wear and tear. So then I shared with her about how the clasp/lock would not secure sometimes. She asked for the bag and tried to close. And I explained that it sometimes it can close and sometimes doesn't and the top flap will pop out. I had ppl tell me my bag was open more than once before and asked if they are aware of similar issues with their bags. She proceeded to hold the bag in front on me and said it's closed and tugged on it oddly and she said she has no idea what I'm talking about. At that point I gave up. The manager was not even listening and her actions were rude. We have people staring at us. You can tell the manager doesn't care and she echoed the mindset that they displayed from the beginning. We are not customers but potential thieves and scammers. Looking back it was odd, they have the sales rep trailing us and the managers standing there by the register awkwardly pretending they are not there. They don't seem to want customers to be in the store... I told them thanks for giving me time and bid them good bye. Needless to say I will not return here. It's a shame I spent so much money to be disappointed in the quality and receive these kind of attitudes and treatment. I hope others get better luck. I rather spend my money at the outlet where they actually have customer service and the bags actually lasts! Thanks for reading about my experience. read more

I did really well at this location they seemed to get the product before the other locations according to the way it happened when I was shopping. when I got there when They had just put out the latest collection for the Hawaii line. I Got the one and only key chain Of the beach chair. They had just put out the collection and I was the 1st one to get it . so exciting the staff was very helpful very energetic. And even took my picture for me outside of the store. store staff went beyond , to help me and made my experienceIs pleasurable. I have the Kate Spade leather pineapple purse and the entire staff recognized it the a minute I walked in the store and appreciated the pineapple coming back to the Motherland. I love this location so good with parking and it's free when u validate from any store with a purchase! The store is very clean and full of life & color and all the bags are displayed so beautifully the staff are very nice and professional and make suggestions of what looks best and don't force you to buy or ignore you if you don't buy anything! The staff welcomes and greets u when u come in and leave. I worked with Mayumi and the other staff and all are very great to shop with! I've come here a few times because ala moana is close to me but I feel this place has more selection and friendlier staff even if you don't buy anything! Last week we spent a "Stay-cation" in Waikiki for a scavenger hunt during the day and group dinner at night. It was actually quite fun and we only had to pack a small bag for the both of us. Getting ready for dinner, my wife says, "Where are my shoes?" I point to the cute casuals that she'd wore during the scavenger hunt. "No, the ones that go with this dress!" I knew that tone and I wasn't about to tell her that the shoes she had looked perfectly fine. "I packed everything that was on the bed," I offered instead. "They were over by the wardrobe.," she wilted and gave me a frown. "What do you want to do?" I said. After all, it was the evening before Valentine's Day and we were on a couple's getaway. She lit up. "There's a Kate Spade over at the Royal Hawaiian. We can rush over there and make it back and we'll only be about 10 minutes late for dinner." She was right, we were there in no time and soon walking out with a new pair of shoes...to the tune of over $300! What's worse, they didn't look much different than the casual ones that I had pointed to earlier in the hotel room, and those were Kate Spade shoes as well! To really get under my skin, the cashier asked for my wife's name so she could put it into the computer. My wife looked up and nodded as if to give me the "this is necessary" look. When I said her first and last name, the cashier quickly entered it into the computer and then, without a hint of discretion, stated our address to confirm that she had the right customer. I didn't know what upset me more, that my wife was a Kate Spade regular, or that the cashier was casually giving everybody in the store our home address. I'm a man. I don't get it. I can see paying that much for a pair of black wing tips that will last me a lifetime. But all of these shoes look alike, last a couple months and/or go out of fashion, and cost twice as much. I bit my lip that night and since. I wanted to have a nice Valentine's weekend. My wife was happy. Our weekend was nice. While the reviews seem to be either real bad or real good, we had a nice time here in this smallish two-story retail outlet for Kate Spade. This facility is right in the middle of Waikiki's fashionista strip on Kalakaua Avenue...surrounded by other stars like Ferragamo and Prada. The store was bright and clean and filled with the colors that make Kate Spade so popular. This store is one of two on Oahu and it is located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Service wise we had no probs. We were greeted on the way in and allowed to look around before getting help with a purchase...an Emerson Place Nisha wallet. I've been shopping at Kate Spade for years and the two stores in Waikiki are by far the best stores I have ever shopped, with the best customer service and the best selection (this store has two floors) The girls went out of their way to find the right size for me and suggest what I might like. I love coming to this Kate Spade location. I prefer it over the Ala Moana one even though it's closer to my home. I receive great service from Masami. She doesn't judge me by what I wear and always has a smile to greet me. I love Kate Spade, but usually wait for the sales and purchase maybe twice a year at the most. The people who answer the phone are friendly and don't make me feel like I'm wasting their time. I've gone to the Ala Moana location a few times, even wearing my Kate Spade bag, but no one in there greets me or makes me feel welcome, so I leave. read more

The customer service at Kate Spade is TOP NOTCH! I went in on Valentine's Day looking for "Hawaii Exclusive" items. While exploring both floors of the store, I was approached by just about every single employee working that day and they all knew what I was looking for. Even the security guard in the front said hi to me. The associate that rang me up (Yaya, I believe was her name) chatted with me for while, took care of me and offered to contact me on the mainland when new collections are released. This place is extremely nice and professional. When I have walked in a man in a suit greeted me and my boyfriend. A lady working the floor was very friendly and helped me and answered my questions on purchasing a laptop messenger bag to for college. They did not have the design that I have wanted online, but instead I have received a bag that is more suitable and appropriate for school. The store is so bright and colorful and not to mention clean. Also when they bag your item for you they give you a cute little envelop with your receipt in it. I haven't been to the other Kate Spade locations. But I will say this one is the favorite so far since the others didn't have the bag I wanted online available. I was greeted by Christina and was briefed about what new collections they have and the specials that were in place. I looked around and went upstairs. I was then greeted by Satoka who helped me in making my decision for my purchase. I am very pleased with the service I have received. Being a frequent customer at the Ala moana location, I was used to the excellent quality of their customer service and I came to Waikiki because a sale item that I wanted was sold out at Ala moana. This store is beautiful and bright, but the service is horrible. I was greeted by multiple associates when I first entered, but after that, I got absolutely no help. I stood around for a long time, clearly waiting for help and even then, the sales person barely took the time to grab my item. From now on, I will stick to the Ala Moana location. read more

Every single time my girlfriend and I come to this location, we never get acknowledged- ever. Not even a look, nor the slightest attempt to say hello. Although I give my wife the worse time for OVERLY purchasing Kate Spade, I must say that this particular store in Waikiki is great. We went in yesterday and the customer service is impeccable. They are friendly, they offer beverages while shopping.
