Ambiance is well it's in a dilapidated strip mall on State line so what do you want? Bring friends and enjoy your time chatting. We all enjoyed our meals and the portions are exceptional for the price. 2 entrees 2 drinks tip under $30. Come on that is wonderful and the food was fantastic. It is clearly more enjoyable to add a review of a good restaurant experience, but I must call it as it is. While the service was quite good, if not particularly friendly, the food...well, I have to question the future viability of this place. The soup was not identifiable, not flavorful and not consumed. The meat sauce on the spaghetti was very strange, flavor wise, and the spaghetti, while well-cooked, was swimming in the cooking water that was not allowed to drain adequately as it was plated. This is, unfortunately, not a rare occurrence in restaurants and is a particular pet peeve. The bread was okay, but familiar; my guess it was a standard issue from Sysco or somewhere. My suggestion is for them to get the spaghetti sauce from Sysco. I wish Chappo's well, but to attract discriminating customers, things need to change. read more

So this is a great hole in the wall for Italian food --- we love it. However, I guess you could consider the service ok, if you have a solid two hours to spend. That's after being seated. (Which is also super slow) We bring wine and have to wait up to 30 minutes to even get wine glasses. And it's never busy. We order an appetizer and it comes out with our dinner. The restrooms are gross, too. I told my husband we should give it another try sometime soon, so if it changes, I will def update my review. I really need Chappo's to step it up. All their apps are great and the entrees are great. We do order pizza to go from there sometimes, but even then you wait in the drive thru for 20 mins after it's supposed to be ready. Ever since we moved back from Dallas 9 years ago, this was always our fave Italian place...but we settle for something less than so we can get great service! I would rate it a 5 because the food is delicious...but until service is better, I'm being generous by giving Chappo's 3 stars. And seriously, please clean the restrooms!!! read more

Since our last visit, we tried the calzone and Philly cheesesteak. Calzone was basic, cheese calzone, baked well and tasted ok. The calzone was large enough for two to eat well. The Philly cheesesteak was not as expected. The bread was what I'd hoped, a nice Italian sub roll. It was, however, over toasted to burnt around all edges. The light sauce made the bun fall apart and the meat was greasy. Cheese was ok but didn't really add flavor. Overall, one of the lowest cheesesteaks I've had (but I'm comparing to Geno's and Pat's level). Tiramisu was out of stock. Beginning to see that the entrees like ravioli, pasta, etc are mass-produced and heated up while pizzas, stromboli and calzones are made in-house. read more

The air conditioner needs cranked down - usually I complain it's too cold anywhere else but it was an exceptionally hot day & it felt like the thermostat was on 80. The service was good. Deborah and I enjoyed a nice leisurely late lunch here. She had the Chicken Alfredo and I had the Pasta Sampler. My dish was very good, Debbie's was a little undercooked. She said she's had better. Her's would have been better if cooked a liitle more and needed more sauce. She said the chicken in it was delicious! The waiter we had was very nice and attentive. We'd go back. The food was absolutely incredible. It is the most surprisingly authentic and delicious food we could have asked for. Everything they offer is freshly made and obviously given attention to detail and flavor. A highlight was a salad with their house dressing (tomato-based vinegarette), absolutely fantastic and unique. Service was excellent, staff was kind and genuinely appreciative of our business. We shared the sampler which had three items that were difficult to distinguish, but excellent. The marinara sauce was not only excellent but also very unique. The tomato vinaigrette salad dressing was excellent and unique. Im through ordering calamari at Italian restaurants. They fry such small squid rings that the delicate taste of the meat is covered up by the batter. Its not fancy. We will be back not because of the atmosphere, rather because of the tastes. read more

We picked this restaurant because of Yelp reviews. Drove up and said, hmmm. Walked in and said hmmm. Not many people and ambiance just not there. Went ahead and gave it a try. Started with rolls. They were delicious. I had the chicken piccata, hubby had calibrese (?) chicken. We both loved our meals. The very personable waitress suggested the tiramisu for dessert. It was sooo good. Ok that was delicious. I ordered takeout at the restaurant and wait time was 15 minutes. I ordered Chicken Murphy and Chicken Parmigiana. Both came with a fresh small salad and two rolls. The Murphy was great! So flavorful, mushrooms, red pepper, jalapeño, creamy sauce. Chicken was cooked well and spaghetti survived the drive home, which was about 12 minutes. My husband says parmigiana was good as well, though he prefers a crisper chicken breading. I'll definitely order again. The restaurant is in an old strip shopping area and floors are concrete where old flooring has been removed, not real pretty, but I'm okay with that. Absolutely wonderful food, this is one of my favorite hidden gems in the city. The pizza is so amazingly good, it's now my go-to pizza place and I make pilgrimages weekly. The crust is handmade and wonderfully fluffy, the sauce is a perfectly seasoned and proportioned addition, and the cheese is delicious with a great texture. Gave this place multiple shots at our business. They are awful. First time we went in, we sat 30 minutes, still no one took our order. To top it off, we were only one of two patrons when we walked in. The second try, we called our order in. I wanted calamari, they were out, so I settled for fettuccini Alfredo and a salad. The salad was pathetic and tiny, hardly anything on it; the fettuccini was like somebody's leftovers reheated with next to no sauce on the noodles. We will not go back. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. From the look of the place from the outside you might wonder but we decided to try it. Glad we did. We had calamari which was perfectly cooked in a light, crispy batter. I had a seafood pasta with scallops, mussels, clams and shrimp. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. My daughter had a chicken and mushroom dish which was really good and my friend had chicken with artichokes which was also amazing. The waitress was really nice and very attentive.
