The food was bodacious and extraordinary it overwhelmed my extremely developed palette!

Chicken Mexican Flautaus with beans and rice

This place has moved and this is the new location. It's very Tex-Mex so it's not my favorite place to go but I have found a few things I've liked, which is great because hubbs loves the nachos here and always wants to come here for them. Their salsa is decent and their Ranchero Cheese Dip is excellent but it doesn't really count as a meal. Don't get the guac- it's plain guacamole with nothing added in. I threw in some pico from a friend's meal to make it how I like. Huevos con Chorizo weren't good to me as there was very little chorizo and it needed salt. The Pechuga a la Parrilla is super tasty, with a great flavor that everyone enjoyed. It is even better with a side order of pico de gallo. I go back and forth on whether the Wild Mushroom Quesadilla was worth getting again but it was good just not awesome. The Fajita Quesadilla de Pollo was awesome and worth getting the large of. Heads up: They have horchata! (Sometimes) It's not on the menu and they don't always have it, but if you ask for it they can tell you if they have any left or not. It's really sweet though but if you don't like sweet you can always ask for a cup of water as well and add some to it (which my hubby does). To Try: - Huevos a la Mexicana - Camarones a la Diabla - Tamale - Cheese Dip: Queso Fundido con Chorizo Loved: - Chicken: Pechuga a la Parrilla - Chimichanga: Grilled Chicken - Drink: Horchata - Quesadilla: Fajita de Pollo (always get large) - Quesadilla: Wild Mushroom - Side: Pico de Gallo - Vallarta Pollo (with cheese dip instead of cream sauce) Ok: - Cheese Dip: Ranchero (watery) - Chicken: Pollo Fundido - Flautas Mexicanas (chicken) - Huevos con Chorizo - Nachos Locos (hubby fav) - Salsa Disliked: - Appetizer: Guacamole - Burriito: Green Chile - Pescado a la Veracruzana

This was was okay. I loved my veggie fajitas. They came out sizzling hot! The veggies were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The meal was very filling with the sides of beans, lettuce, pico, guacamole, and etc. I would order that again. The simple queso bean dip was good as well. The taco salad was not so great. The meat was not seasoned at all and there wasn't really any toppings to make it a nice salad. They have a ton of drink specials and even daily food specials.

So for tex mex, the food is eh. It was bland, lacking flavor and presentation was nil. The quesadilla was placed on the bare white plate with no sauces , not even a sprig of cilantro for garnish. The shrimp, while well cooked, lacked seasoning also. All in all, a rather substandard meal.

I was driving around and saw this Resturant and thought "let's give it a try". I was not impressed. The menu was small but so much stuff on the page it was hard to read. I went with the fish tacos (3 tacos in a flour tortilla stuffed with tilapia, pico, lettuce and sour cream. I love sour cream, but there was way to much. I didn't even realize I had pico on 1 of the tacos and the fish was cut up in bite size pieces. There wasn't really a flavor but fishy. I wouldn't get them again. The salsa was alright but not great. I got a chunky guacamole, but it was more onion than anything and I hate the taste of raw onion. It was hard to find avocado in the dish. I probably won't go back.

Big lunch portions with decent flavor. Handled our group of 7 with ease. Steak Burrito was solid and the salsa had a nice kick.

#21 dinner combo and a monster margarita on the rocks

The staff here is nothing but attentive -- from the moment we walked in the door. There was a family with children next to where the host was originally going to seat us, so he asked us if we would prefer to sit elsewhere. That was awesome. The decor is a step up from many Mexican restaurants in the area. I sincerely enjoy the culturally appropriate music, and wish other cultural restaurants would follow suit. The salsa was slightly spicy -- as salsa should be -- and definitely the best "free" salsa I've gotten at a restaurant in some time. My husband and I got the #14 and #21 dinner combos (21 is pictured), and the first time I ate here I got a Speedy Gonzales from the lunch menu. All five stars. The small cheese dip was enough for us to share, and it was pretty decent. Margaritas have been on point the last two times I've eaten here -- get them on the rocks! A monster size was enough for the two of us to share. All in all, I think this is going to be our New Mexican place of choice. It may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Receipt showing that I never said "no tortillas". Which they also claimed I wrote.

Not a motivated staff. The steak fiestas are not of quality beef. The chicken is fine.

Best Flautas Ever! I…read morereally enjoy coming here. It's one of our favorite Mexican places now. Most of the things I've gotten here have been excellent. The flautas are just the best and it's my mom's favorite thing, too. Hubby has found his new fav burrito here so we come here often. I'm excited to try more stuff. The mixed drinks are pretty good as well. I don't know why but I cannot stand the corn tortillas here. They have a very off-putting smell to me. We tried the Margaritas Chicken Dip and I felt like there was way too much chicken and not enough queso. I think we will try the version without chicken next time and see if we like it better. I do love that this place has such an extensive menu because I'm always finding something different I want to try. We have both fallen in LOVE with the Gringo Quesadillas here. Joel prefers the chicken option but I am obsessed with the al pastor version. The steak version is meh (we got it by mistake once). The salsa is what really makes it. They bring a salsa for you to dip it in and put a little in the quesadilla itself. It's AMAZING. It's pretty much all we have been getting lately. The Pollo Borracho is good but it's got such a strong flavor that it's best eaten with tortillas to mellow it out a bit. The taco salad was pretty good. I really liked the flavor of the shell. It doesn't reheat that great but it's still decent. The baja taco had no flavor and fell apart to easily to eat. The quesetaco de puerco had too much fat on it. The quesetaco del pollo also had no flavor. The Chimichanga Casera tastes like nothing but tortilla and cheese. You can't even taste the meat. Same with the Fajita Quesadailla. I like the chicken option but the one with all the meats just mainly tastes like cheese. I disliked the Camarones Don Jose because they left the tails on the shrimp and the shrimp itself wasn't flavored, the bacon and cheese were just it. It was meh for me. The Pollo Bravo doesn't have much flavor other than cheese. I like onions and mushrooms but it felt like it needed more veggies. The Anaconda is fun and I would love to eat it with a group. Hubby and I liked it but it had too much rice inside to the point where it was dry. It benefitted from some queso. The shrimp fajitas come with the shells on them??? My sister got it and mentioned you can ask them to deshell it I think. Or she mentioned that she forgot to order something different. IDK but I would never want to eat that and have to fight for me food so I'll never get that. Soul Food, to me, is much more than a "type of food". Don't get me crooked, I am all about some OxTail's, Smothered Pork Chops, Chicken & Dressing, Turkey Necks, Greens, Cornbread, etc. etc. etc. It's about food made with love, by people who love to make food, with techniques and seasonings handed down through generations of good people. It's a small family business, and Tony is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. He is so happy to be in his little section of this gas station slinging this heavenly food.
