Great drinks and whiskey/tequila ledger. They have whiskey flights that are priced really fairly. Cocktails were delicious! Food could be improved on. The smash burger and fries were good. The tuna crudo was thick cut but was sitting in too much oil, plus the grapefruit on top just made it taste all around bitter. Our waitress was super sweet and checked in at all the right intervals. Was nice to visit and would love to give it another try once their kitchen settles in.

Ambiance: beautiful warm interior Service: a little rushed Food: food was mid. Drinks were good. This is a new restaurant in the new Hotel Rose in downtown Rockford that just opened in September 2025. I do hope they do well because Rockford isn't very lively and not a destination. We came to celebrate my sister in laws birthday and the host did wish her a Happy Birthday wheh we checked in and the waitress gave her a dessert. I thought those were wonderful gestures from the staff. We ordered the tuna appetizers and the smash burger. The tuna was sliced very big and the sauce was mostly olive oil. Maybe some yuzu sauce or ponzu would give it a bit more umami. The smash burger was juicy but just average. Drinks were strong and good. Hoping they can improve on the food since they just recently opened not too long ago.

The place looked the same and a bit outdated to be honest. Seemed like there were no updates in many years and the bathroom could've really used some TLC. The girl at the counter was friendly and helpful during my experience at least. I was happy to see they still had the Japanese pan udon noodles because that's what I always got. I asked her to hold the carrots and add bean sprouts. She told me they didn't carry it anymore. I was devastated because that's one of my fave components on that dish. So I asked her to add chicken and just hold off on the carrots for now. She recommended the Korean noodle dish that had a small kick to it. When we got our food, I noticed I didn't get any chicken, the noodles were very dry with very little sauce coating them and there were carrots and no mushrooms. I brought this back to the counter to show her what was missing and if they could just add the chicken and mushrooms and I'll get over the carrots. She took it from me and had him "fix it." The chicken was fine but the mushrooms were still quite raw. It was like he threw the raw sliced mushrooms back in with the noodles in the wok and just tossed it a couple times so it wasn't exactly pleasant to eat. My sister's dish was more flavorful but the noodles were definitely overcooked (too soft) and was over sauced. I was pretty bummed since I waited to choose and eat lunch here for my birthday. Not sure if I'll ever return again to what used to be one of my favorite places in GR.

Everything that you would get in one of the name steak houses downtown, but at a much more reasonable price. The service, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, everything is fantastic. My husband and I decided to check this place out on a Monday night for dinner. He had been craving a good steak for awhile, and we were excited to try a new spot. Nearly immediate disappointment. It was completely empty when we walked in, and right away we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not. The hostess seemed a little put off by this, but sat us anyway. I do understand that it's possible they had a whole group of reservations about to show up, but it was an off-putting reaction for our first time in. Our tablecloth was a little dirty and the music was a little loud, but we didn't want that to deter us, so we ordered drinks, and started looking over the menu. I decided on the salmon, and my husband was deciding on which steak. It turns out, they were out of the 6oz and all 3 of the 10oz steaks. If we had known this when we were seated, we may have come back another night. He decided on the 16oz Prime New York Strip with asparagus and mashed potatoes as the sides. Oh, they were also out of the salmon, so I ordered the shrimp accompaniment and the side Caesar salad. Already facing disappointment since they were out of so much of the menu. It got so much worse when the food arrived. The steak certainly didn't look like an actual 16oz cut, and was as thin as a cafeteria steak. It was at least cooked as asked at medium rare and had a decent char, but it was also served nearly room temperature. The steak knife was also super dull, which didn't help. The asparagus melted in your mouth, in a kind of over-cooked way, and the potatoes were so dry it was like they had been under a heat lamp for half an hour. The gravy basically tasted like a cheap canned gravy. My Caesar salad was...weird. Yes, it was a side salad, but the bowl it came in was huge, so it looked like a sad little thrown together salad. It tasted fine until I got to the bottom and there were massive chunks of bleu cheese. First of all, the menu did NOT say the Caesar would have bleu cheese - I wouldn't have ordered it. And I'm not sure it was supposed to be there since it was just chunks at the bottom, almost like they started serving the wrong salad and just plopped the correct one on top. The shrimp accompaniment was the star of the whole meal. Decent sized, seasoned well, and not over-cooked. The whole experience was just not good. I'm giving 2 stars since we did eat our food, and didn't complain to anyone, but realistically we probably should have just left when we learned they were out of 4 of their 8 steaks and the basic fish entree. Based on the experience, and how many other restaurants there are in town, I'm pretty confident we won't go back.
