First off I want to mention that Carmen is one of the most amazing servers I have ever had, and everyone at our table felt the same. She immediately made us feel at home, was amazing with her menu descriptions and advice, and was present without being overly so. The restaurant is gorgeous, it's inside the Amway Grand Hotel. Carmen gave us plenty of great recommendations so we started off with brussel sprouts, calamari, and burrata. Hands down the brussel sprouts where everybody's favorite! We all had a different entree for dinner, and it was the first day of the new menu. I had the strip steak, it was supposed to be medium rare, it was definitely medium but so forgivable because of the excellent flavors. Others at the table tried the halibut, the salmon, the short rib, and the walleye fish and chips. Each meal was fully loved by it's recipient. We had a fantastic bottle of Caymus with our meal, plus one of my guests have a beautiful cocktail with a watermelon. I forgot what it's called. We didn't really want dessert, but creme brulee is my favorite and I wanted to taste the new passion fruit flavor. Interesting place. We made a reservation but the place had plenty of seating. Then the hostess put our menus on a high top in the bar. I would not have bothered with a reservation for that. We sat at one of the many dining tables. Service at the table was fine though. We did not do well ordering. Other than the Brussels sprouts. Everyone is doing them but they dud them great. Hot but not burnt to a crisp, moist, had flavor, some green color and the combination of everything worked. Unfortunately the snitzel was just a plain breaded cutlet. My mistake. I had had a cutlet recently that had a great German style gravy and somehow thought this would too. Nope. The German style potatoes were raw potatoes soaked in a brine of some sort. We really thought they were apples. Crunchy. The Walleye was ok. Not memorable. We should have gone with something more standard but we were there for a conference and they had most of the menu on their buffet. We wanted something different. The Kitchen was a huge disappointment for us. We have been to a number of Puck restaurants and they are usually very good. The crabcakes are mostly filler, no lump crab. My wife's halibut tasted spoiled, she wasn't feeling well afterwards. The weiner schnitzel was not veal, but chicken gor the veal price. the German potatoes were boiled with a cup of vinegar thrown on top. The service, however, was incredibly disappointing. My server showed no sign of concern for my experience, unlike his checking in on the couple to my right and the couple to my left. This was overall a pretty decent meal for a restaurant in a hotel. I made a reservation in advance which is easy to do on their website. I was seated in a booth right away, and the server was generally friendly and attentive. The ambiance is open and modern. I had the chicken lettuce wraps to start which were very good if a bit lukewarm. I do like that the chicken is prefilled in the lettuce cups. I also had a ceasar salad which was decent although nothing too amazing. The croutons were fresh and crunchy. For an entree I had the schnitzel which is a classic and an homage to Wolfgang's Austrian home. It was a generous portion and quite tender with a lovely crunchy coating. The potato salad was ok, but some of the potato slices seemed a bit undercooked. For dessert I had the chocolate soufflé which was truly delicious. It takes about 20 minutes to prepare, but it's worth it. Well prepared with no eggy taste and just the right amount of chocolate. I came here with a group of 5 for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I had never tried this place before due to the subpar reviews. I'm familiar with who Wolfgang Puck is, but obviously this location is not a flagship or major restaurant of his. However, I was very pleased with our meal! First, the interior of the restaurant is clean, modern, "steakhouse-vibe," and it is overlooking the Grand River a bit from the Amway Plaza. We were at a high top table closer to the bar area. The service was fairly efficient. We ordered brussels sprouts and crab cakes for appetizers, and it was nice that they offered to do 5 crab cakes instead of the standard 3 since we had a group of 5 (not sure what the upcharge was). Two of us ordered the Thanksgiving dinner option, and 3 of us ordered the NY strip steak off the regular menu. The steaks were cooked great; mine was medium rare. I was pleasantly full after eating about half of my plate. A few of us shared the chocolate soufflé for dessert - really good! The salted caramel ice cream that came with it was just OK. On vacation, this place is in the Amway Grand Hotel. Did not have reservations (must have), so had to sit at the bar. Could order same food. I ordered the "meatloaf". It arrived with three large onion rings on top. Very good start! The meatloaf was on a bed of potato puree. The sauce on top was like BBQ sauce and the edge of the meatloaf was carmelized. Well, it was like no other meatloaf I've ever eaten! Soooo good, I couldn't stop eating. Ate the whole thing!! The bar was crowded, but the bartender was fast and efficient. Food served very quickly. We accepted a change in our reservation at Ruth's Chris as they had to close unexpectedly, and were assured this was another fabulous restaurant for our special dinner. We were seated in a lower level room (basement) which I thought might be nice & quiet but turned out to be very loud once 3 other groups were seated. I ordered a Caesar salad (good) and the margherita pizza, which was a huge disappointment as it was very bland. My husband ordered the walleye but it didn't arrive when the other three orders were served. Then there was an unfortunate accident as our server brought drinks to our companions, and both glasses slid off the tray with most of one glass spilling into my husband's lap as well as my white sweater and my slacks. I suggested he have a few slices of my pizza and our daughter shared her burger as well. He finally decided to run back to hotel to change clothes before we went to our event. While the rest of us finished and waited for the bill, the walleye arrived (we declined). A waiter brought the bill, and told us the manager removed the charge for one of our side salads and the walleye - really?!? And there was a charge for the drinks that were spilled! They graciously removed the charges for those drinks. I understand that accidents happen but this experience was one of the mishandled disasters I've encountered. read more

We were staying in the Amway Grand Hotel and wanted to dine in the hotel. I phoned The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck to see if there was room for us for that evening if we came down to the restaurant immediately. It was 6:55pm on a Saturday evening when I phoned. I was told that they could fit the two of us in at 8:00pm. When I asked if they could possibly do any earlier like 7:45pm, I was told they could do that. When I looked at the restaurant's website however, it showed availability for a table for 2 at both 7:15pm or 7:30pm. I thought that was strange? My husband arrived at the restaurant a few minutes earlier than I did (right on time at 7:45pm s assn U arrived at 7:50) and he was seated at a table in the middle of the room. I thought it was strange that the restaurant was only half full when I was told on the phone that we would have to wait almost an hour for a table? When I arrived, we asked if we could be seated at an empty table by the window so I could see the River. The waiter said he would ask and came back after speaking to the hostess, and said that unfortunately that table was spoken for. I remarked to our waiter that "I would not be happy if I saw that no one was seated there ." I meant the remark as a bit of a joke! Sure enough - during our hour at the restaurant the table stayed empty the entire time. I was very disappointed. Clearly there is some mismanagement or miscommunication with their hosts allocating the tables at this restaurant. It is sad as they probably missing out on customers due to their mismanagement. The food we had was tasty - although it took almost half an hour for our cauliflower appetizer to arrive and it was lukewarm. The mushroom pizza arrived piping hot and was also very good. The Kitchen is located at inside the Amway Grand. It's on the first floor and has a really great view of the Grand river, which looks pretty spectacular at sunset. For appetizers, I've had the crab cakes and chicken wings. There were 3 personal sized crab cakes that had a good amount of crab and not too much filler. They sat on top of a delicious basic pesto aioli. The chicken wings came with a side of chili-garlic sauce. You really need to dip it in the sauce as the chicken itself was not flavor packed, but it did have a good crisp on the outside. For Pizze, we had the roasted mushroom. This could be eaten as a main, but we had it for an appetizer. Nice crust that had a good chew. Good amount of cheese and mushroom ratio. I would order it again or maybe try one of their other pizzas since it uses the same dough. For a main, I've had the New York steak. It was served with a potato puree and some roasted vegetable. It was cooked to temperature and was seasoned well. I would give it an above average steak. I've had some pretty gritty and tough NY's before. It made a great late night snack! 3.5 stars read more

It's not cheap and mixed reviews from the table. My daughters did not like the margarita pizza at all however, the mushroom bruschetta and brussels sprout appetizers were delicious. Very friendly waitress but I wonder if she got my son steak temperature and mine mixed up because he got medium rare and I got medium well and that's the exact opposite of what we wanted. Perhaps she should've written down our orders instead of trying to remember them all. That's a shame when you pay that much money for a steak it should come out perfect. Wolfgang Puck is a great dinner spot that's convenient, offers a solid menu, and great service. We dined for dinner before our last Broadway show and had a great experience. It was a busy Saturday night and used the valet for parking. Pro tip, they offer a half off voucher for valet if you dine here. We told them we were heading to a show at 7:30 and they made our service fast and got us out right in time. Food was good. We had steak entree, a dinner salad and brussel sprout app. All good. Cocktails were also great. Ambiance is nice. It is loud in there with all the hard surfaces and keep in mind it is a chain hotel restaurant so you'll be surrounded by an assortment of other guests ranging from folks who just finished their kids sport tournament next door at DeVos place to groups celebrating a birthday. Love this place! Their pad Thai is my favorite. It comes with 2 big scallops and 2 big shrimp. The chef can make it spicy if that is your thing. I got an 8 out of 10 and it was pretty hot. The sauce is amazing as well. Their chicken wings are also really good. They are perfectly fried without a ton of batter and the sauce is sweet and spicy. The staff is always super friendly and on top of it. The restaurant is classy and has window seating overlooking the river. Make a reservation through Open Table - once deciding to go here, I was able to find a table for two open in 15 mins. The Mahi with black rice and mushrooms - I ate every single bite! The fish was cooked perfectly with a nice crisp and everything on the dish went so well together. The Asian Chicken Salad is great as an entree. It's perfectly dressed and comes with plenty of chicken. They have a kid's menu with chicken strips and pizza. I've had a regular pizza off the menu before and they're delicious. Kids can choose a cheese or pepperoni. The chicken strips are great. And THE FRIES! I had to restrain myself from eating all of my daughter's fries. They're so crisp, warm, and perfectly delicious! I asked the server for a mocktail and it was delicious. The chocolate soufflé comes out piping hot with steam billowing from inside. The crust is crisp and tastes like the sugar from marshmallow or merengues. The inside is gooey and even better when you drizzle the chocolate on top. I am really unclear how to even review the tasting event The Kitchen put on at the GR Food Wine and Beer Festival. Amazing? I have over used that word so many times in reviews. Stellar, delicious, fun, entertaining, efficient, cordial, professional = all these things. We had air = we actually ate edible balloons!!!!!, and we talked funny for 30 seconds ;D and then dirt (not really) it was delicious, fire - some of the most amazing smoked prime rib ever, and water = popping a bubble of sauce over our dessert. Can not believe they were able to pull this off in almost camping conditions. Yes they had electricity but pretty much all the chefs at the festival were working on bare bones than they are used to, and we got an EVENT!!!!!!!!! Valet parking is easy and inexpensive, upon entering the main Amway building you are greeted by a beautiful classic interior with a modern touch. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambiance, with views of the river. The bar served excellent craft cocktails (the Smoked Hemingway was outstanding), the bartender Kati was amiable and outgoing, and very professional. As for the dinner -- we had the tuna tartar and Asian chicken salad as appetizers, my wife had Pad Thai and my son and I had the pork chops with creamed leaks and potatoes for the main course, all were nothing short of amazing, really, every single bite. Our server Carman was perfect, friendly and attentive, advising us on the various menu items and even brought out the chef, Marguis, to meet us. The highlight of the evening.
