It was OK. I was expecting a wheel charcoal boiled steak running juicy. I ended up getting something a little dry.

Just had my son's 13th BDay celebratory dinner here & it was absolutely great. We had a party of 14, so it was a steep bill, but man was the food & service great. Our friends came to Char couple weeks ago and recommended it, so the fam decided to go on our 10th yr anniversary; every Wednesdays there's a special on prime ribs. 40-50 min drive to Char and it's worth it, great food and service. Parking is very limited , Parking on the grass is necessary, make reservations In advance, depending on the day , time & occasion , there could be a wait. The scenery is dark , low lighting in an oak wood coloration background. Mikey was our waiter with good hospitality . I had to order an item from each category ; since I live to eat . I'm a satisfied customer and will be back. The service was great our waitress Nikie was a outstanding. The rest of the staff was great as well. My only criticism was the tomahawk steak. Another reviewer said the steak came out like it was fried. Perhaps too long in the salamander. And the meat had a lot of fat. The rest of the meals were good. read more

HAVE to give this establishment a whopping 5 stars, which is a rare occurrence. From the second our party of six walked in to the finalization of six separate checks, there was nothing to comment negatively on. The waiter was very attentive visiting the table quite often including taking back an appetizer that my friend wanted to opt for something else! No lifting of an eyebrow or hesitations were made. I highly recommend the Prix Fix meal for $29.95 from app to dessert/coffee/tea. Can't go wrong! There were many choices of each category which to choose from! Something for everyone! 10/10 steakhouse. Variety of choices, incredible food quality, wonderful service. Called my grandmother an animal because she went here and ordered her Filet Mignon well done. Like what kind of person even does that? I'd rather you call me some kind of slur than ever eat meat cooked well done in front of me again. It would be less offensive. Went with the family , been before always just ok. I asked for my steak to be medium but I'll be damed I swear it was so rare I seen it moving across the plate. Four of us had a great meal last night , our knowledgeable and super pleasant waitress name Nikki, answered all our questions and plus... Drinks were excellent. My compliments to the bartender. Bread and water was brought to our table promptly. Now for the meal. Started with, a yummy onion soup, a fresh salad and delicious Oyster Rockefeller share by two of us. Now for the piece of resistance! NY strip steak with Au poivre sauce; comes with 3 other choices of sauces, and two vegetables choice. It was cooked to perfection medium rare, on the rare side. The Veal chop special of the night, was pretty much devoured by two of my dinner companions. The Bone in Rib eye disapeared quite quickly too, I was told it was by far one of the best! Service is impeccable, the place is pretty, my only complaint " it's a bit noise" the acoustic could be better. But let's face it, we came to have a excellent meal and we did!! Hubs was salivating for meat- so the thought of a sizzling steak was already in the works. Our last experience was partly dull in taste and quality about a year+ ago. But boy....I want to shed light on the matter and mention dinner this time, was outstanding because Steak is serious business here focusing on several cuts, the same way Seafood is. We made a reservation on a Friday night, we were sat immediately, and the place was busy already. We got 3 different appetizers. The bacon strip was a bit too chewy for our liking, but calamari and the lamb pops were both so delicious. I ordered a chartini, which is a dirty martini with 5 bacon wrapped cheese stuffed olives. This alone felt like an appetizer- and worth it! We loved the atmosphere however it got pretty loud as the night went on. The steak wasn't bad, however the fries on the side weren't great- I would have replaced the side with the steak. I had the Ravioli special with Shrimp- it was a nice portion & filling. Started off with not so pleasing appetizers: baked clams were dry and over cooked, grilled octopus was also dry and obviously over cooked. I think they boiled too long prior to grilling. My friend and I have decided to try new restaurants. And maybe you them. I'm not going all over West just a county. So I guess you wouldn't call us the Westchester babies. So we picked Char restaurant what a hidden gem We did a Tuesday night special.. Service West spectacular the dinner the appetizers. What unbelievable and to order extra with so reasonable? It was a great deal including dessert. My steak was delicious. The potatoes were fluffy. The vegetables was at its world. I had a wedge salad. Baked clams. Dumplings, a Boston steak, a great big potato and beautiful. Zucchini tapped off with a peach Melba and a cup of tea. I had Mikey the waiter and oh my God, he was so great. Friendly helpful answer to any questions and got every specifically quest on my food as I have a garlic allergy. Even the busses. Friendly. On the ball and great workers. We've been here a couple of times and have tried many sides and a few types of steak and they were all good. Most recently we had the Tomahawk for two which was cooked just the we asked and shared 4 sides. The lobster Mac and cheese and large chunks of lobster, and the bacon Brussels sprouts were very flavorful. We also ordered the oysters Rockefeller special for appetizer that were tasty. Solid meal for restaurant week, I'd come back. The char-tini olives were amazing, though I somehow missed that it was a gin martini and not vodka so I ended up swapping drinks with my husband after we shared the bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed olives. We started out with the boom boom shrimp and asian calamari; the juxtaposition of the two dishes was kind of funny, there were only 3 little shrimp on my husbands plate vs my overflowing calamari plate. I had more than enough to share and both dishes were delicious. The calamari was perfectly crispy and the sweet asian sauce meshed well with the slightly spicy wasabi dipping sauce on the side. We both got NY strip steaks and ended up having leftovers. I asked for mine rare and it came out more medium rare but I can live with that. My husbands came out medium rare how he asked for it. The potatoes and veggies on the side hit the spot. We barely had room for dessert but I was able to polish off my tiramisu and my husband almost did the same with his cheesecake. We loved being seated right in front because the fire kept us warm. This was the first time I have eaten here and it was fantastic. The ambiance is great for a steakhouse and the fireplace adds that special touch. My steak had a perfect char and the sauce was delicious. If you like twice baked potatoes this is up there with the best. Asparagus was cooked to perfection. My brother had the gorgonzola salad which was great. His black Angus beef stew was so tender and full of flavor. They were even real accommodating substituting the pasta for mashed potatoes. The Tiramisu and chocolate moose were above average. The one disappointment was the maple orange vodka cocktail,I couldn't taste any maple syrup, they were again extremely nice and accommodating and added more maple syrup, but even then it was mild. This is a steakhouse and when our steaks came to our table clearly not the temp we ordered, the waiter tried to make excuses and was clearly uninterested in making it right and walked away from our table. When the owner came to the table to check in, we again mentioned the steaks he also seemed to not care and walked away. So we ate the steaks not prepared as we asked, one being so dry and well done that I had to dip it in ketchup to moisten in up to be able to get it down my throat. Not at all happy. read more
