I love looking through each stall and finding little treasures you just can't find anywhere else. On this trip, I found what I was looking for - a milk glass pedestal bowl - but it was a little overpriced compared to the previous thrift shop I had seen it at, so I passed on it. But my favorite time to shop at the Mercantile is just before the holidays. They always have such lovely and unique gifts for my family and friends (and myself). It is much smaller than its larger competitors, but I actually think that works to its advantage. Many of the larger thrift stores have become so commercialized, selling many items in bulk/wholesale... like a dollar store, so unique pieces are hard to fine. Javellas carries many unique, well kept pieces. We were fortunate to find two brand new canvas paintings at exceptionally good prices. We will be back sporadically to find more pieces.
