Went for eyebrow waxing. I was taken in straight away. Ladies are nice. Shaping was well done. Left happy. However the next day I got these awful spots all over the area that was waxed. It seemed like some bacterial infection. Will definitely not return for waxing! read more

My go-to for nails! I come here every 2-3 weeks for a shellac manicure. The girls here are super friendly and always make me feel welcomed. They always offer tea or water. Their prices are so good for a downtown location! And their job is top notch. I don't have any complaints about this place and so far all the nail techs here have done my nails and all have met my expectations. read more

The BEST nail salon, I'll only go here! I found Charisma through all these Yelp reviews, so I needed to give one as well. It had been over a year since I got my nails done (back in Toronto: this is incomparably great). I booked an appointment late last night, I ran in here late today from work, and got accommodated by the sweetest girls right away. Lynn (Lin?) was my tech and she was incredible: wholesome conversation full of motivation and good vibes AS WELL AS meticulously detailed. She paid so much attention to the cuticles, filing, buffing, and the Shellac polish application was spotless and perfect. I looked all over Yelp, and googled best Yaletown Manis/Pedis. A few popped up, but CharismaSpa lounge caught my eye. So I quickly made an appt, after a couple tweeks I made appts for 2 on a saturday. THe purpose of this Mani/pedi is cuz of my bestfriends bday. She never treats herself, so I thought I would bring her the best of beauty! Once arrived on Sat we were greeted by the owner very nicely. Oh might I say the decor is amazingggggggg! I couldn't stop looking around. Its so chic and boutique-ish. Beautiful! I could get some decor ideas for myself. My friend and I had our nails/toes done beautifully, and relaxed. Great conversations were made between the nail techs and us. It was just a lvoely relaxing evening. I would def go back again. THe only downfall is when my friend got home the next day, the sparkly polish on one of her nails just peeled off. so next time I suggest ask for a top coat or extra top coat because I dont remember them putting on one. I couldbe wrong though. I was a bit disappointed cuz I wanted her to have it on for a while. and it was for her birthday. But it was the experience that we received so it was ok. I found this spa on yelp and I am happy that I came here. The customer service was amazing, the staff was extremely attentive and sweet. They were genuinely interested in making conversation but were not too pushy when silence was all I needed. The environment is extremely clean, no dust in site. They wash and sterilize their tools each time, never re-use nail files, there was no nail dust or residue left on the station once I arrived. I was offered a beverage and even a bottle of water to take home with me. I left in a great mood! read more

I went today to charisma without getting appointment but I ask them if they can do my mani and pedi, and they said yes! I was happy place is clean, nice girls. My boyfriend came to pick me out and he got mani and pedi too lol :) I like this place I'm coming back for sure. And $50 for mani and pedi good deal. read more

All the girls are lovely and friendly and they remember you and any particular way you like your experience (tea/coffee/and even what kind of style and colour I like my nails)with them! This place is definitely a hidden gem in Yaletown. I've been to many nail salons around here but this one always knocks it out of the park. I've been here dozens of times with my sister and gfs but today I took my mom for a spa day for her birthday and wow! Not only did they do a fabulous job of making our nails look stunning but with the difficulty of my mom's immobility, the ladies at Charisma -especially Chloe and Tina - went over and beyond making us feel comfortable and tending to us the best they could. Positives:- The woman giving me a pedicure was very kind and thoughtful and professional. -The salon was bright and airy and clean. -My toenails looked good. Negatives: -Although my toenails looked good, my feet still felt rough and you could see where they buffed/ filed the heels. The other client in there had the same chalky- looking heels as I did afterwards. - the foot massage part of it wasn't really a massage at all. It felt like she didn't know what she was doing. That was disappointing as it's an important part of a full pedicure that I really look forward to. -the woman who was working reception was scattered, forgetful and although friendly, was not very helpful. -new customers came in before my nails were dry and the last part of getting out the door (which is when they remove the foam from between your toes and help you get your sandals on so you don't mess up your polish) was up to me. The receptionist was standing there watching me trying to figure out and said she didn't know how to do it. -When it came time to pay, the receptionist told me what my total was and then said "plus tip". Of course I was going to tip but was taken aback that she would mention it. I'm not sure if she was the owner or not. The woman who booked my appointment over the phone earlier that week seemed like she was the owner but had a much younger-sounding voice than the woman working that day. Came for a shellac mani/pedi before vacay and am so happy I discovered this little gem! What a cute, sweet and pretty little nail salon. The customer service was wonderful. I didn't have a an appointment but thankfully I was the only one in the salon so they were able to get me in right away! I was immediately offered tea and water and was served both of these with a side of hershey's kisses (chocolate is the way to my heart!) They took such great care doing my nails - a little bit longer than I would of preferred - but can't complain when I was chillin in the massage chair. They opened the tools in front of me which is definitely appreciated. My pedi ended up getting smudged so they told me to come back and they would redo it! Based on the customer service, cleanliness, cuteness and all around loveliness, I will definitely be returning! read more

I have gotten a mani-pedi done at Charisma several times, and every time has been a true pleasure. They take care of every detail - clean premises, quality products, super friendly service, and they even offer you a coffee/tea. The best part is they are extremely reasonably priced (especially for a downtown spa), and they usually have some promotion or discount available. This place was close to work so I thought I'd get a Gel polish manicure before going away on vacation. Gel should last 2-3 weeks. Although my nails looked good and it was done very quickly they only lasted 5 days into my vacation. I had a bath and most of the polish came off. I've never heard of this before. So it lasted 7 days and dissolved by relaxing for 30 minutes in a tub!. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Best pedicure ever!! The only reason I give 4 stars is because I didn't like how they did my gel polish as I was getting my pedicure.. It was awkward and took away from the relaxation. I had been to this location before under different ownership which I loved and so decided to try this one again. The staff was friendly, courteous and seemed to have a wonderful relationship with everyone. I was disappointed though with the lack of attention to detail. I had done some painting (water-soluable paint). The paint comes off with water and a good scrub and therefore it makes sense to go and get a pedicure where one should get a good exfoliation. At the end of the experience, I had tons of paint (very visible) on my toes and when I looked underneath quite a bit of paint. This means that most of my foot had not been exfoliated. I was surprised that they would let me go out like this after a pedicure (and it is not a low priced one) and was disappointed with the lack of thoroughness after I brought it to there attention (still had paint when I got home). They tried acetone at one point for some reason, which does not apply to this kind of paint at all (not oil nor acrylic)....just needed a full scrub, which I did not get. I would have felt better about the experience if, once they noticed that my feet were still not far far perfect at the end of the pedicure, had taken the initiative to make it so. Although I would want to go back (were very friendly and kind) I do not think I will unfortunately. There seemed to have been a lack in pride for good quality work. read more

I was given a hot cup of green tea to drink while she did my nails. The manicure and polish application were flawless and I would definitely go back. We were able to get an appointment fairly last minute this evening for my friend and I to get the double decker (mani and pedi). We arrived 5 minutes late (we underestimated time to find parking etc) and were whisked into the chairs right away without any introductions. We then spent the next hour and a half having the roughest mani and pedi treatments ever. My friend's technician was running around constantly without letting her/us know what was going on and was overall pretty cold. The girl doing my nails was friendly and did an ok job, a bit overzealous with the filing and cuticle pushing/clipping so i now have raw patches on the tops and sides of my nails where she filed away the skin too. My friend mentioned several times to her technician that she was uncomfortable without any response. She did a super rushed job and painted over the skin and didn't remove it very well. We would definitely pay more for a better experience elsewhere. read more
