Whenever I move to a new place, I find it hard to find a good salon. Not that my hair is anything special; more because it's not. Thankfully, I discovered Charizma through a friend at work. Going in for the first time, I was nervous. Because I am so generally untalented at styling my own hair, and because I only get my hair cut a couple times a year, I'm used to taking some amount of criticism from salons and stylists. You know, "you must" this and "you mustn't" that.... Over the years, I've wasted hundreds of dollars on products and styles that "anyone" can replicate at home. Anyone but me! Charizma is different. Nantz consistently gives me a great and simple haircut that looks good right away and also grows out well. She listens and doesn't judge me. She offers suggestions that even I can follow. She never makes me feel bad for coming in only every six months (yup, even when my hair is colored) rather than every six-to-eight weeks (like what most recommend). Like any good friend, even if I haven't seen her in six months she will take up a conversation as if we last spoke only yesterday, all the while remembering what works on my hair and what doesn't and what my styling limitations are. (Are you getting that I'm stylistically challenged?!) And it's not just me. Once when my mom was visiting from out of state, she decided to make a hair appointment with Nantz. Now, my mom never ever goes to get her hair cut. Ever. For as long as I can remember, she has cut her hair herself over the bathroom sink. She also cut my hair when I was young. Mom has a short, "wash and wear" style. Product? Never. Color? Never. No fuss, no muss, that's mom. Well, it was a special occasion so Mom thought she'd try Charizma. Once she learned that my mom enjoyed cutting her own hair (I didn't tell her), Nantz showed and explained exactly what she was doing (no secret stylist mystique) so that mom could see for herself. Mom got a great cut, great tips, and had fun! Nantz and her staff at Charizma always make me feel welcome and special. I've tried several other services such as unique updos and makeup for special occasions (FABULOUS!). In fact, because of the particular special occasion I've needed to get a bit creative (think mermaid) in my updo and makeup and Nantz and her staff have always been up to the challenge. I've been excited to see Nantz's business grow into a full service salon. I'm so excited they now offer massage and can't wait to try it! If I had one criticism it would be the length of time appointments can take. And it's not really a criticism; just different from the way many salons rush you in and out. For me and the services I get (usually cut and color/highlights), I'm often there for a good 2+ hours, and there may be other clients served while I'm waiting for various processes. Which isn't a bad thing as long as you know it can happen. I've learned to factor in the time when I schedule my appointment and now I really look forward to a mini-vaca as I sit back, relax with a magazine and cool drink of water, chat with the staff, and enjoy being pampered for a brief time. That's not to say Nantz can't do a quick haircut; on the few occasions I've really been pressed for time, she's made it work. I've read the two unfiltered reviews and I don't understand them. If I ever have a problem with my cut or other service, even if the problem is me and not the cut, Nantz and her staff will make it right. Cheerfully. I urge people to unhide the filtered reviews for a more complete picture. I'm sorry to go on for so long, but I've had very few stylists and salons I trust over the years and in the places I've lived around the country. I'm eternally thankful I found Charizma and Nantz. I've been a loyal and happy customer for the past six years, and I look forward to many more wonderful hair cuts and services. read more

Moving to Charizma from a previous salon has probably been the best decision I have ever made. I have been going to Charizma for years, and every visit isn't just business but a personal visit; I look forward to my visit monthly or even weekly on some cases to get facials, waxing, and my hair done. I completely agree with her, when i visit i feel warm, welcomed, and certainly feel like a guest in her heart and the whole staff! . I don't know any hair dresser like Nantz or her staff that would go out of their way like they do for me or ANYONE! My hair has always ROCKED! my highlights are better than my highest expectations and she's made me feel so much more confident in myself knowing that my hair completes my look and it looks awesome too! Nantz guarantees you'll be happy with the service you're provided or she'll do anything in her power to fix it.. and i mean anything, and its because of this more then exceptional customer service that i have referred more then six close family and friends to her because I want them to feel and receive the outstanding satisfaction and service you get from the second you walk in the door, to when you leave with a smile on your face! I just recently returned to Charizma Salon after moving to the Providence, RI area. I had been seeing Nantz (the owner) for several years while I lived in Buzzards Bay, and in that time was spoiled by really great hair and a really warm and welcoming salon environment. I have baby fine hair that I keep in pretty much the only (short) cut that allows me to have some volume, so instead I really enjoy experimenting with color. I have loved every single hue Nantz has done for me - from golden brown to auburn to flaming red to blonde, with all sorts of highlights (and even a perm once!!) to go with it. She really is a master colorist with a creative eye, but more than that, she really cared about keeping my hair healthy and shiny throughout each transformation, no matter how dramatic. When I moved to RI, I thought I would be able to find a salon in Providence, or even in Boston since I work in the downtown with great proximity to Newbury Street. Search as I might, I just could not find a place that made me feel as comfortable - either with the skill of the stylist or with the general vibe of the salon (I just can't hand over hard earned money to people who treat me poorly - talented or not). So now I am especially happy to make the hour or so ride to sit Nantz's chair again. I have also started getting facials from Mary that have been amazing!! I was surprised by some of the negative reviews that I read, and would encourage anyone to give Charizma a try. I went to Charizma Hair Salon today and my hair cut and color looks great. I have honestly never has so many people compliment me on my hair. Why do I love Charizma? I have had many, many hair stylists color and cut my hair over the years and I have to say Christine is the best by far. Four years ago, I needed to find a new salon and have my hair color corrected (from blackish brown) One of my friends told me I should look for a hair salon that had a master stylist on staff. I did my research online and found that there was a master stylist on staff at Charizma and the prices were reasonable. On my first appointment after a consultation, Christine fixed my hair by adding highlights, which toned down the terrible color and then gave me a great cut. Nantz, the owner has created a salon that is relaxed and welcoming, but do not be fooled. There are some seriously talented people here! I see many happy customers leaving the salon with great looking hair. I highly recommend Charizma Hair Salon and rate it five stars. read more

I moved to the area over a year ago, and FINALLY found a salon I can trust! I worked at salon myself on the South Shore for years, and was still commuting 30 plus miles to up there to get my hair, nails and waxing done....until I found Charizma - luckily!! I went from long hair to a funky asymmetrical cut, and from dark brown to light blond (not an easy task!), and they did a terrific job! With three kids & work, I have a hard time booking anything, but they went above and beyond to accomodate my schedule. The space is beautiful, and everyone who works there makes you feel comfortable and love to have fun, but take their work very seriously. I look forward to my visits at Charizma so much. It's more than just going to get my hair done. Nantz gets to know all her guests and treats them like family. When I first started going, my hair was a hot mess from some other salon butchering it. But Nantz knew just how to rebuild the strength and health of my hair, and what cuts and styles would look best. She's also always up to date on the latest trends. I have never left there unhappy, and even if I did, Nantz insisted from my very first visit several years ago that I tell her, and she and her staff would do what they needed to do to make me happy. I wouldn't go anywhere but Charizma! I recently got a perm for my first time and had Nantz, the owner, do it. She took her time and explained everything to me as she went along. She educated me on which perm she would be doing and why. Nantz is like a doctor for hair, she diagnoses you in the chair and then fixes everything! I love how my perm came out, and most of all I love all the one on one attention I get when I sit in her chair. When I moved to Bourne two years ago I needed to find a great hair stylist/colorist. My friend recommended Charizma Hair Salon and I have been going every month since. After my first visit when I thought my color was a bit too dark (but it was what I asked for) Kristen said to come right back in and she would lighten it up at no charge. It looked great! She always wants to make the customer happy. I always leave with a perfect color and style! I got to Charizma every few weeks to get my hair cut and styled and I have to say that I have never been to a better salon. I have long curly hair that is very difficult to style but somehow Kristen knows exactly how to work with it. I have never had my hair cut by the owner Nantz but I see repeat customers in her chair every time I go in so I would imagine that they are very satisfied with her skills! All in all this is a wonderful salon to go to, very down to Earth atmosphere and very nice people, along with fantastic service and prices. read more
