I have dry curly/frizzy hair with different texture on top and underneath...finally decided to go shorter with an asymmetrical haircut (short in back, longer in front). Now I can swim, shower, and go----accentuates the nice curly waves in front, while the back is short-eliminating the big head frizz! Best haircut ever (and I'm in my 70's). This salon is deleting negative reviews instead of trying to fix their problems! I had terrible experience with Velvet while getting an ouidad curly cut. I made sure to ask lots of questions, but I was shocked to see her cutting pieces of hair 3 or 4 inches from my head in order to thin it out. I had no idea that was part of the process. I know it needed to be thinned out, but there was no conversation about how much. Id say about 50% of my hair volume was taken out and I'm completely shocked with how thin it feels. She did not like ouidad products and recommended I use something else, while then using the ouidad products... she then styled my hair worse than I have ever seen it before. She knew I was heart broken and charged me for a normal cut, but $67 to lose so much hair and to have to immediately wash it and re style it was insane. She made an excuse like "this happens sometimes and everyone's hair is different." I was looking for advice and styling help and just got excuses and frizz. She put in MORE product after I said no and used so much hair spray I couldn't breathe and had to wash it off my glasses later. She also put product on my scalp that caused itchy red patches. She was rushed and has no concept of communication or consent. There was never an apology or offer to fix the problem or try again later. By the time I realized what was going on it was too late. Do not come here for a curly cut! Update: its been a few months and im having to get another hair cut to fix what was done. My curl pattern is ruined and my ends are broken and more damaged than ever. I should have never paid for what Velvet did, but i was so embarrassed by how i looked i just wanted to run home and wash my hair immediately. I have never been contacted by this salon to fix their mistake. read more

I received a Ouidad Cut and Style which is supposed to be for curly hair. My expectations were high as the stylist is supposed to know curly hair and I paid $105 for this styling. Please know that this is a regular cut where they just thin the bulk. When I left my hair was hard, brittle, and not curling. She needed to use a curling iron on me before I left. I had to go home and wash it because there was so much product in it. I am not writing this review to bash the salon, just giving people an honest description of what they are getting, which is not a cut that styles and works with the type of curls you have! I have added pictures because my hair actually looked worse than it usually does! I spent $105 on this and I am so disappointed. read more

I just had my first Ouidad curly hair cut and style with Patrice, and it turned out FAR better than I expected or hoped. She actively listened to my goal, concerns, and desires; then she spent time learning my hair and curl pattern before heading to the wash station and working her craft. And it is craft: She has excellent technique and artistic talent when it comes to working curls. I went to get my hair done by Kyle today, I'm so super excited best job since I moved from Boston area! She really really listen, plus more so she's super talented! She took my hair back to what it looked like in my 40's with just a couple highlights, now that's talent! She use my natural dk blonde to cover the grays, then two shades of blonde for the highlights. She proceeded to clean up all the split ends, and shape up the cut, without compromising my lenght, ( believe me I was getting afraid of a little trim, for I kept leaving with bobs)! I was very very disappointed in the ouidad cut that I received my beautiful curly hair turned into frizz I tried for 3 weeks to use different products to help my hair and I finally called and complained they offered to fix it and the owner did another ouidad cut and told me nothing was wrong then quoted the next time you get it cut it will look better and had the nerve to charge me half price because it had been three weeks my hair is no better what kind of a place is this that specializes in curly hair and the cut ruins the curls I am so sorry that I let them touch my hair pkease don't ever get their special ouidD cut there read more

Came here for my first Ouidad cut. I have wavy curly hair and let me just say, this might be the best haircut I've ever had. In my life. Lindsay, the owner, greeted me and as soon as I saw her with her pile of gorgeous curls I knew I was in good hands. She explained every step, every technique, thoroughly. She showed me the accompanying product line but didn't push them on me. She was delightful, skilled, and smart. I love how it looks and moves and I'm even capable of styling it myself with minimal effort. Just sorry we didn't think to snap before and after photos. Run don't walk. Great salon. Salon Evolution is by far the BEST salon. They have a MAGINIFICANT staff with tons of personality and diversity. They care not only about their clienst but also about the community. Salon Evolution is one of the few salons Ouidad certified in Massachussetts. What a niche they have uncovered. I will NEVER get my hair styled by another establishment again. I get my hair done by Kyle and my pedicure by Nicole and brows by Kristina. I am able to schedule what I need all in one day and that works out amazing!!! I went here for a bridal hair trial and got my hair done here for my wedding. This salon is great. I'm from out-of-state and when I called I explained that I wanted something non-traditional and a little bit funky for my wedding. I also explained that I was in a bit of a pinch, being from out of state and having no time to spare I would need to do my trial the same week as my wedding. The person on the phone recommended Kyle and she was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted/my ideas, gave suggestions, and was open to feedback (I had very little, just a minor re-touch at the end). She was also NOT in a hurry. She took a full 2 hours and didn't rush when her next appointment showed up early. I received the worst haircut ever at this salon in mid September. My head was barely covered by hair that was less than half an inch long. I showed the person a picture of the cut I wanted - what I got wasn't even in the same category, and when I showed the picture to her again after she finished, she seemed oblivious to the difference. When I got back to where I was staying, my hosts exclaimed 'OMG, what happened to your hair, looks like you got a buzz cut!!' My host was going to go to the salon to lodge a complaint, but his spouse talked him out of it. I sent pictures to my stylist at home and she was aghast, and reminded me that the good news is, it will grow out. I attempted to post this review with no stars, but the app wouldn't allow that. 1 star is too generous!! read more

Kristina at Salon Evolution is amazing. I am always nervous getting my hair done, especially somewhere new. I am incredibly particular... I like highlights to look very very natural and she absolutely blew me away. She recommended flamboyage, kind of a mix a bayalage and ombre and there are no distinct lines and one month after, there is no need for root touch ups. She thought it needed a few more highlights so she even offered to have me come in the next day, which I thought that was great and showed that she was a perfectionist and cared about her final product. I hope to be able to come here next time I am in town. Keep up the great work... the best hair color I have ever received and at great prices and I have had my hair done at high end salons in Dubai, downtown Portland, Oregon, and everywhere in between. read more

I am new to the area and called this salon after having called several other places for just a simple cut. The first few calls to other salons were less than friendly or professional. Kelly at Salon Evolution, however, when answering the phone was both warm and efficient. She set me up with an appointment the next morning with Madison. The adjective "sweet" is bantered around all too often, but she (Madison) truly was sweet and the vibe there is kind with good, clean energy. She listened and gave me a great cut and perfect eyebrow wax that I hadn't even scheduled. I came in about a week ago for a desperately needed haircut. I was reluctant about trying a new salon but I had just moved and couldn't make the trek into NYC anymore. I made an appointment for 2pm and as soon as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was so clean and professional looking. I could have been walking into a top salon in NYC. The staff was incredibly helpful and as soon as I walked in Lindsey was ready for me. The haircut I received was the best I had ever gotten and I couldn't have been happier!
