My mom decided to see Dr. Lin because of that. She knows Mandarin and he, albeit more fluent in English, is able to communicate with her. In order to keep an appointment, I ended up going with her to her appointment, in order to explain what's going with her, her medication, and the side effects. We arrived at 10:30 AM and signed in for an 11 AM appointment. We soon discovered that they were delayed (again) and that their 10 and 10:30 appointments have not been seen yet. Unprofessional. The lady in the front was rude, was playing with her cell phone for the majority of the visit, and spent 1/2 a minute putting in the doctors note that I needed, before putting it down, doing five other tasks, and completing the form (which took only another 1/2 a minute. It literally takes 10 minutes for a doctors note? Unacceptable: Dr. Lin, albeit patient and knowledgeable in his field, was slow and didn't seem like he was just going with the motions. Overall, this was very disappointing. If given the choice, I would not choose to come here. And therefore same goes for my parents. I will find a better specialist.

After MRI's, CT scans, blood tests, countless RX's, and different diagnosis, nothing worked. Last December we switched our health insurance. I now had the option to choose my own specialist. Dr. Lin looked like a qualified neurologist and was just down the street. I made an appointment for the following week. He asked a lot of questions my first meeting with him. He got a thorough history of my headaches and asked questions no Kaiser doctor had ever asked. After about 30 minutes he said, " I think you're suffering from migraines with aura". He knew all the other migraine medicines I had tried that didn't work and prescribed an injection. I filled it and was ready to use it on the onset of my next migraine. Two weeks later my boyfriend and I had stayed the night in SF and I woke up with the onset symptoms and gave the injection a try. For the first time in three years, I didn't have a migraine after one had started to come on. I couldn't believe it. Dr. Lin gave a name to the headaches that had been plaguing my life for three years. That in and of itself was a gift. And he gave me a treatment that gives me my days back. As any migraine sufferer knows, a day that starts with a migraine is a ruined day. I don't have to live like that anymore. Thank you Dr. Lin!!

We unfortunately had to go through a very difficult lawsuit where my husband was almost murdered and of course our attorneys had to reach out to this doctor since he was treating him at the time. Dr. Leung called my husband on a SUNDAY and verbally assaulted him saying "I DONT DEAL WITH LAWYERS, WHY ARE THEY CONTACTING ME?!!" MIND YOU- we put in our intake form that we were in litigation, and any doctor that reacts like this always has something to hide and is unethical. It showed immediately. He should not be in medicine, he is a danger to those who he "treats." My jaw dropped as I heard this doctor who had been treating my husband the past year verbally and emotionally assault him. I am beyond sick that he still has his medical license. I pray no one else uses this abusive "doctor" ever!

She is incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and truly takes the time to understand the whole person rather than simply treating symptoms. I have always felt heard, respected, and actively involved in every decision about my care. What truly sets Dr. Mielke apart is her dedication to staying at the forefront of medical research. She is always up to date with the latest scientific findings and evolving approaches to patient care, and she thoughtfully incorporates that knowledge into personalized treatment plans. It gives me tremendous confidence knowing that my care is both evidence-based and tailored to my individual needs. She explains complex medical topics clearly, never rushes appointments, and genuinely cares about helping her patients achieve the best possible health outcomes. The entire team at Optimal Spectrum is also professional, responsive, and welcoming, making every interaction a positive experience. After more than seven years under Dr. Mielke's care, I can confidently say she has exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for a physician who is compassionate, exceptionally skilled, and committed to providing the highest standard of modern, evidence-based care, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Mielke.

The complexity of Dr. Mielke's patients means that while she has a killer memory and excellent medical training plus nearly a quarter century of running her clinic, she simply cannot know everything that will ultimately be the key to a particular individual recovery. In my opinion, this institution is a huge setback to our area. They seem to be more concerned with…read moretheir own interests than the people they "serve". I have tried for over a month to contact patient relations. I got one call back from "Ashley". I called back leaving messages to call back, but now for over a month, they have seemingly deliberately ignored my requests. I put another call in to the main 3333 number to make a fresh request. The person answering clearly knew who I was and what the situation I was calling about was. I was assured I would be called back, but as of one week I have heard nothing. In general, I hear many people say that the doctors there generally don't really care about their patients, that they are arrogant, and don't communicate well. There is much more that i could say, but i will say that a large majority of the staff, are genuine people from our area, and do their job well, but the medical providers are the main problem that i have noticed and heard complaints about. There are definitely some good doctors, but they apper the exception not the rule. i only have experience with certain providers. Some are great some not at all. I do hear feed back from a number of people i know who feel similarly. One other important observation is that when you rate a Stanford doctor highly, they give you a rating questionnaire AFTER EVERY VISIT. Once you give a bad rating, say because you learned that an "excellent " physician was actually a "fair weather friend" and suddenly wasn't so good at all if things got challenging, then they seem to stop asking for evaluations. You will notice that their physicians public individual ratings are based on internal surveys, and it is difficult to find a way to rate the physician outside of their internal system, thus likely artificially boosting their ratings by limiting the negative ratings...

Outstanding medical staff, but facilities and one unprofessional nurse left room for improvement…read more My wife Nikki and I recently had a 4-day stay at Stanford Tri-Valley to welcome our first child, our daughter Oraya Rose. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly accommodating, starting with Jeanette at the front desk who gave us a warm welcome and a smooth check-in. The Medical & Nursing Team We cannot say enough good things about our doctors. Dr. Veeragandham (our delivering doctor) and Dr. Chandler (who cared for my wife in the days prior) were the most comforting and phenomenal doctors we've ever experienced. You can truly tell they care deeply about their jobs and their patients. Dr. Sanders, who discharged us, was also fantastic; he kindly expedited our release knowing we were exhausted from the small post-labor room and just wanted to head home. Throughout our long stay, we were supported by an army of wonderful nurses who checked in frequently to ensure we had a pleasant stay. We want to thank Kelly, Michelle, Chayenne, Stacia, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Maddie, Tricia, Deanna, Liz, Rachelle, Noelle, and Ranjita. We also want to give a special shoutout to Aaliyah, who was immensely helpful with my wife's labor exercises early on. Our absolute standout was our delivering nurse, Shinika (who we understand is a traveling nurse). She is a tremendous asset to the Stanford team! Her guidance and support were instrumental--she coached my wife so well that she was able to push the baby out in under 35 minutes. Constructive Feedback & Areas for Improvement Unfortunately, we did have a highly negative interaction with another nurse, Jen, who was in the room during delivery. There was palpable tension and attitude from Jen directed at Shinika. Even worse, while my wife was actively pushing, Jen abruptly announced, "The baby's heart rate is dropping." This caught us completely off guard, caused unnecessary panic, and disrupted my wife's focus. Thankfully, Shinika and Dr. Veeragandham immediately reassured us that everything was fine, and even the other staff in the room looked at Jen in confusion regarding what she was doing. We brought this up to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Joseph, but I am reiterating it here so Jen can be properly trained. If there is an urgent matter, it needs to be communicated professionally with the doctor, not blurted out to terrify a mother actively pushing out a baby. Facilities & Amenities The rooms were okay, but felt outdated and small compared to LPCH. Additionally, we were promised a celebratory meal once the baby was born, but we never received it. We were really looking forward to that after such a long and grueling hospital stay. Another suggestion for the hospital would be to add a community kitchen or hydration station for families. We felt terrible repeatedly asking the busy nurses for water and snacks. We didn't want to treat the medical staff like room service knowing they have far more important duties, so it got to the point where I just left the hospital to buy supplies at a store. Overall, the incredible medical care and nursing support made our experience a positive one despite the hiccups. Thank you to Dr. Veeragandham, Shinika, and the rest of the amazing team for bringing our daughter safely into the world! In the future, however, we will likely aim for a delivery at LPCH for a more modern feel and comfortable space within the same network.
