My husband gifted me a spa treatment for Christmas so I booked myself in for a facial with Sandy. This was my first time at Charles David and I was so impressed. The front desk person downstairs greeted me so warmly and was just so nice! I was sent upstairs to the spa and the receptionist there was just as lovely. I was shown to the changing room (so many nice little extras in there) and given a big fluffy robe, towel and slippers. Relaxed on the chairs in the lounge for a little while and then was greeted by Sandy. Absolutely the best facial I've had. I felt like a marshmallow afterwards. My only comment is that I couldn't find a price list for services anywhere so I was reluctant to book more treatments at the same time. $135 for a facial and the experience I had, was more than reasonable! I LOVE THIS SALON!!! Booked an appointment for myself for an updo and makeup - I was attending a friend's wedding nearby. I live in Florida so I am so grateful that this salon was recommended to me. My future sister in law also got an updo and my future mother in law had her hair and makeup done as well. We all had an incredible experience. The stylists listened to what we liked and did an incredible job of styling our hair and makeup in a fun and flattering way. Sorry to the actual bridesmaids in the wedding, everyone said I had the best hair (and I agree!) I wanted a Gatsby updo- showed Michelle some pics for inspiration and let her run with it. Wish my hair could always be that beautiful. I loved my makeup too- great coverage & accentuation of my eyes. Makeup, hair and false eyelashes lasted thru a long night of heavy dancing. I treated my future mother in law as an early mother's day gift and she had such a blast and felt like a queen. Everyone working at this salon was so friendly & personable. I could hang out there all day lol. I spend time in MA and Palm Beach where I am accustomed to the best beauty services. Finding a salon that would create the exact color result Redken's formulas provide was important to me. I called Redken and they recommended Charles David in my area. I spoke with Barbie and explained to her that I needed to get in right away for roots because my father's funeral was coming up. She went above and beyond by investigating that she could get me the same exact products as my formula. She called me right back and she got me in right away with Betsy. I love Betsy's friendly, helpful, and upbeat demeanor and her skills are par excellence. Her knowledge of treatments and assessment of my hair has made my long hair even more beautiful. The color application was perfect and I returned to have the L' Avant Guarde clarifying treatment to remove chlorine and product from making it softer, shinier. I love the styling she does in my blow-out too! You will feel valued and appreciated by everyone. In addition, the shampoo stations are quite comfortable, product selection is fantastic, you have space to relax while processing, and you are offered beverages and snacks, and inquiries as to your needs are made frequently. Prices are fair. It would cost a bit more for comparable service, skills, and amenities in Palm Beach. I also enjoy the fact that the Hanover location is an entire stand-alone building with plenty of parking and an elevator. (Hope to update this review with a photo on my next visit) read more

Your lack of concern over your customers is apparent. I was not looking for a monetary compensation. A simple acknowledgement and apology would have been nice. You are very quick to attempt to discredit my prior (2 STAR REVIEW). It's funny how you never responded about your staff's lack of training. You haven't discredited anyone but yourself. First visit today and first cut by a stylist since the pandemic during which the "home cut with a razor" was the only option! The location is 20 minutes away and very convenient as we recently moved to Norwell. Kelsea was assigned to cut my hair and she did a wonderful job. I'll probably stick with her going forward and retire the Covid razor! I recommended to my wife to make an appointment with Kelsea as well as she's also looking for a stylist. read more

I had the best haircut experience ever at the Hanover Charles David Salon!! Everyone there was so kind and generous, and Kayla helped out my damaged hair so much by offering a customized treatment when I walked in solely expecting a standard cut and blow dry. I'm typically at hair salons for an hour and 15 minutes minimum because of how long my hair takes to dry, but I was in and out in about 45 minutes!! First, let me say that I have never written a review before, but on this occasion I felt increasingly compelled to do so. Summer is around the corner so I wanted to put blonde highlights in my hair, and Kayla Smith had a last minute opening to be able to this. I went in and she was incredibly welcoming and friendly as she always is, and I expressed concern for my dry and heat damaged hair. Kayla was able to work around this, and I left the salon feeling so amazed and happy with the results! She was able to create my ideal tone of blonde and my hair felt healthier and softer than it ever has before. This place has brought me many great services, from brow shaping and facials to hair cuts and color treatments, and other stuff in between. To at least four of the employees I become a loyal client for years. The reason for the 3 stars is because of their backend help (sometimes a front desk person, other times an office worker not out front) have been really rude. To add to that, these bad experiences happened after I had already had a history of giving this place consistent business. So being a loyal customer didn't even count for anything either. So despite the great service providers I have had, the customer service has really ruined it for me. I have met one of the owners and he has always been nice and attentive, just as my service providers have been. However any owner can never be the whole representation for the company, all employees are important in that they further add or detract from whatever other staff behaviors are. The most troublesome is that the ones that have been really rude, have been so more than once, which to me means they must have a very solid place in the business (ie they are probably related to someone important on the inside). Because if they were not, no-one else is THAT secure with any job to be so rude, and have no worry in the world about how that can come back to them. Most employees are fired for rude behavior/customer service...and most employees in any business are wanting to please customers, at a minimum, in order to keep their jobs at least. But the staff here clearly have no fear of losing their jobs, and it shows. read more

I go back to have her color my hair tomorrow and I'm very excited about it !! all the staff were very helpful Lynne definitely knows her stuff about perms.. First - It is expensive/ but after shopping around my golden blonde became an orange tint (not quite carrot top but definitely not the shade I was going for). Thank goodness Theresa could fix me, I have to save my pennies to go but you definitely get what you pay for. Second - It's also great for anyone with a nut allergy! - They have a dedicated sink for nut allergy people, which my daughter has (they may even be 100% nut free but I am not sure) Third - Spa is great/ I love Kerry Fourth- Prom hair - this is the place to go but book ahead! read more

Today I had such a great visit at Charles David. I had a color by Kayla Smith, who did an amazing job! I always go to her for my cuts, as they are great every time, but It had been a while since I had colored my hair lighter and I had ideas of what I wanted. I showed her pictures and she made my dreams come to life! I love my hair, and in just the first few hours I've gotten many compliments. I highly recommend asking for Kayla for any cut or coloring needs! While I was there, I also got my eyebrows done for the first time ever in my life (I usually tweeze them myself). Sandi was able to not only trim and shape my eyebrows so perfectly, she gave great advice on how to maintain the fabulous look in the future. Thank you gals for making my day!! Wanted to like this place. But it just fell short. Place looks nice. Front desk is courteous. But they just aren't POC friendly. This was my first time in this salon and I was simply made feel lesser then. I understand latin hair is different but you are supposedly a 5 star salon. A true hair style professional should be able to manage. I've been told by other Hair professionals I have thin hair, and I have all my life. Apparently, this salon's hair dresser (Trina) said my hair is thick which would have been a nice complement if, it wasn't being used as an excuse for a subpar blowout. In future maybe not poke and prod with questions of nationality, and what town am I from. As if, trying to figure out a way to point me to my native land. Which by the way is the United States of America. My recommendation if, you are a person of color or a person of thick hair stay clear of here. read more

I used to travel into Boston's Newbury Street for my monthly hair cut before I discovered Charles David Salon, a "diamond" operation right here on the South Shore. Management's attention to detail is evident from the time you step through the door. The environment is soothing and relaxing. The depth of services and the staff from the receptionists to the shampooers are top notch and genuinely treat you like a friend from the moment you arrive. I've now been a devoted patron of Charles David Salon and client of Beth for over 25 years. She is a colour genius and hair stylist extraordinaire. As a feisty septuagenarian, I like to try new looks and have full confidence in Beth's skills to surprise me. She "gets" me, so each appointment is an "adventure" of discovery in a new colour or a new cut. As I've told her, she's the artist, I'm the canvas. Expensive!!! I've been using this salon for a couple of years and prices have increased dramatically in that time. So to help spread the cost I bought a Black Friday deal where I pay a certain amount and get a gift card worth slight more that can be used for all the services they offer, plus a $40 Spa only gift card. In my experience gift cards last for a year. While I used the all services gift card for a hair cut, I hadn't gotten round to using the $40 Spa card. I finally got the chance for some pampering and when I came to pay they told me the $40 card was out of date. It turns out it was valid for 2 months. Not impressed. I think based on the fact that they would not honor the card and that prices have gone up so much I think I'll have to look for somewhere new. read more

I finally found a hairdresser and salon that I am truly impressed with! Over the years I've bounced from different salons and spent so much money. My hair is naturally curly and has become wavy over the years and damaged. I am so impressed with my haircut and color from Kayleigh, she is the only person who could get my color right. I've moved around from salons forever. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair and have always had it layered and thinned. Started with Karyn several months ago, she convinced me to grow out my layers. I cannot say enough about her advice and patience, (did a quickie self cut that really challenged her). I have not been this happy with my hair - ever.
