I just had a painting project completed for almost the entire interior of my townhome. They painted walls ceilings and trim on almost every room. I have a lot to commend this company. So here's the parts I think were best. --Charles came over and did an in-person estimate for the work. he took the time to go through their process for the project from beginning to end in detail. --I received the estimate in writing. The rate was certainly competitive and nota better than the other two estimates I got. -- The project started on time. And the only delay was due to a snowstorm that delayed work by one day. -- The crew (Assem and his team) were hard workers. they finished up my whole townhome in five days of work. I visited my house while they were working several times and they were very responsive to any concerns I had or any issues I pointed out. Assem was very polite. Everyone was very polite and very helpful. -- Charles passed on to me a great deal on paint that he got from the paint supplier. That saved me at least a few hundred dollars. -- Assem was very responsive during the final walk-through to making various touchups and cleanups of drips and spatters so that the final product looked really good. Something I think could be worked on was the cleanup at the end. When the painting crew finished there was a great deal of dust on every surface from all the sanding that was needed . even though they had gathered all the furniture and materials in each room into the center and had covered everything with plastic, somehow the dust still got over everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. As the crew was getting ready to leave I was concerned about the amount of dust. The contract made it clear that clean up of the dust was part of the finished product. However Assem was not able not stay any later that day due to an illness in the family. Assem contacted Charles and Ana, and I texted them a photo of how much dust there was for example on my dining room Chairs. Charles offered to have his cleaning crew come in the next day to make sure everything was cleaned, at no additional cost to me. The cleaning crew left today and everything now is PERFECT - no dust and beautiful newly painted walls and trim and ceilings. I would recommend Charles Graves painting to you. his crew and Charles and Ana were very responsive, Assem was very good to work with and the end product is well worth it. read more

Wow! We couldn't be happier with the work performed by Daniel and company with Charles Graves Painting. We were in the market to paint nearly our entire home and sought estimates from a few companies who appeared to do excellent work based on word of mouth/internet reviews. Charles and Ana came by the house to provide an estimate and answered all questions about their business, the type of paint they recommend for each surface, the process they use to paint cabinets, trim, etc. We went with Charles because not only did he offer us the best price, but more importantly, we felt confident that he would do an excellent job. Daniel was the project manager on our house. He arrived 8:00 am sharp on the day the project was scheduled to begin. I'm not sure how we got so lucky, but I would highly recommend that you ask for Daniel to work on your project if he's available. He is that rare combination of extremely nice and exceptionally talented. His attention to detail is second to none. Not a single brush stroke or drop of paint on the floor (we just had new floors put down and this was very important to us). We threw a few unexpected surprises at him during the project as well, including installing a new electric outlet that required us to patch drywall and paint, and he was more than happy to accommodate every request and make sure every corner of the house was completed to our satisfaction. The biggest project in our house was the basement. It involved painting the walls, ceiling, removing existing carpet, installing new laminate flooring and baseboards, and sanding and staining the stairs. This was a ALOT of work and Daniel's team was able to handle all of it in only a few (very long) days at an extremely competitive price. My wife and I reached out to Charles for a re-renovation project following a series of disasters and unfortunate circumstances which were the result of a pipe leak in our basement. To put it politely, our first contractor was abysmal. Left with an unfinished job, an unlivable property and half our initial budget we were nearly ready to give up. That's when we found Charles's ad. Despite the fact that Charles is based out of VA and we're near Annapolis he made a personal trip to survey the project himself and provide a personalized quote. Even though our requirements were reasonably large (a total gut and rebuild of the entire lower level, and a bathroom tiling project) and our budget was reasonably thin, Charles was willing to negotiate a compromise that worked out for everyone. The project was initially estimated at 2 weeks; however by the end of the first week the project was nearly 90% complete. We were blown away! It's nearly Christmas and we've been living with our three kids on the small upper floor in a single bedroom. We've been living this way since April. We've promised our family a home for Christmas-- been promising that since '07 when we moved it but our house has been stubron and whenever one thing gets fixed two more fall apart. It's because of Charles and his team that we're able to have a more than just a house, we're almost home. In a nutshell Charles and his team are personable and talented individuals who understand the realities of life, and that sometimes life gets in the way. When there were concerns or hiccups- the result of the prior "workmanship"- Charles and his team were quick to address them and did so with professionalism and exceptionalism. I recently hired Charles Graves Painting to paint the majority of the second floor of our house. The process from start to finish was easy and Charles was accessible to answer questions throughout. Initially left a message when requesting a quote for service and Charles called me back within an hour. He scheduled a time to meet me later that evening and showed promptly at the agreed upon time. The price that he quoted was very reasonable for the work were asking his company to perform. Charles also gave excellent advice on the type of paint and the sheen for each room. We hired him and scheduled a day for work to begin. A crew of three guys showed at my house on the proper date and time. They were very courteous and professional. The lead went through each of the color choices with me prior to purchasing the paint and then again prior to starting the actual painting. The crew did a great job fixing imperfections in the walls and made quick but detailed progress painting the rooms. They were very open to fixing any touch-ups that we found throughout the process. We decided that the one color we chose did not look right and Charles had the crew repaint the room in a different color at no additional cost. The job was scheduled for 3 days but took 4 due to our change of color. I am very impressed with the level of customer service and professionalism of Charles Graves Painting from the scheduling and delivery of the estimate, color consult in home, all the way to the final day of the job. My wife and I recently moved into a new home in Maryland. We did a ton of research and had multiple painters come into our home to quote the job. Charles and Ana were the third of three estimates. After five minutes with Charles and Ana, we immediately knew we would not have any other company do this job. I highly recommended them! We hired Charles Graves Painting to do some wood replacement and then paint my exterior siding and trims. We hadn't painted it for over 7 years and it was something that always bothered me but we kept putting it on hold. When I started to call around for estimates, Charles Graves Painting was in the middle but had the best resume and I felt most comfortable with them. Charles was the only company that right away showed me their insurance and license number, which I appreciated. It was a red flag that other companies didn't seem to have it. My home has some high places so I wanted to make sure that I would be covered in case an accident happened. I also had a lot of wood replacement that uneeded to be done and some pieces were a lot of work, and Charles' company showed me photos of wood replacement they had done. When they came out, Emilio was their crew leader. I appreciate Emilio's patience in checking everything and making sure all the rotten wood was replaced. They did a thorough prepping of everything before painting it. When the job was done, I was really happy with how my exterior looks and so was my husband. Their work is EXCELLENT. And Charles and his team were very knowledgeable. We hired other painters from Craigslist before I hired Charles Graves Painting to paint our home, and the other painters trashed our home and the job was atrocious. Charles Graves Painting fixed their mess and now the entire job looks flawless. Highly recommend them. Also worth noting- the other painters gave us wrong recommendations on trim paint (the other painters recommended a semi gloss, but it wasn't enamel based and didnt look right. Charles recommended the Pro Classic in semi gloss and it looks great) and the other painters also got the wrong finish for the bathrooms. During the estimate, Charles expertly assessed what paint we had gotten, and gave a detailed explanation as to what changes we needed to make for a professional job. If you are thinking about saving money by going cheaper- don't. We learned the hard way that quality is worth the price, and painting isn't quite as simple as we initially thought. I had a great experience with Charles Graves Painting LLC and team. We reached out to a few paint contractors serving this area and we ultimately chose them to paint our walls, coffered ceilings, regular ceilings, crown molding, and cabinets. It was a big job and we had a ton of questions. All questions were answered professionally. They also provided us a copy of their certificate of insurance with their estimate. The team came on time and finished within a reasonable timeframe. One day they worked late in the evening to make sure everything looked good and all the touch ups were finished. I really appreciated the fact that all the guys had a great attitude while they worked. We were anxious to get everything done quickly so we could hurry and move all of our stuff in, but they made sure job was done well and correctly which I greatly appreciated. The lead guy, Juan, was awesome. Always communicated exactly what they were doing everyday so we never really had any questions. If there were any, he or Charles always got back to us quickly. I highly recommend Charles Graves! I live in Burke VA and had a change in my flooring renovation. My flooring was coming in on a Wed but my daughters room desperately needed painting. I knew the best time to paint was prior to floor installation while everything was out of her room. I called Charles Graves Painting because we needed a medium sized painting project done on short notice. At first, Charles said they couldn't do it, because they were all booked for this week. I pleaded, and mentioned that part of the painting was for my mom, as I really wanted to surprise her with her favorite color for her new bedroom as she is coming to stay with us. In all my years, I have never seen the head of a business himself come out and take care of a project, yet that's exactly what he did. It's refreshing to see that he doesn't just manage, he also knows what he's doing. It's even more refreshing to see a man of character. Charles Graves Painting painted our exterior, and the walls and trims of the interior. Let me start by saying that their patch work was very thorough and expertly done, their lines are perfectly straight, and everything was safe and covered. I was also impressed that- unlike the first 3 estimates I received- Charles both knew that 1) you couldn't paint below a specific temperature (he knew the temperature), and 2) That there was an available additive you could ship in that would lower the freezing temp/prevent running, and allow them to paint in cold weather. Two of my estimates were painters- one thought you could "ust go ahead and paint in the cold, it don't matter" and the other kept shaking his head and saying "no, you cant do it". Even the other (much more expensive) painting company, didn't know this solution! I drive up to my property in Virginia twice a year. During the summer time and during the holidays since that's where majority of my family is. I heard about Charles Graves Painting from my next door neighbor who had just used them for painting the majority of his top floor to his home. I spoke with Charles on the phone to schedule a time for him to meet with me. I was interested in having my downstairs living room painted and 2 bedrooms. They gave me a reasonable price for it so I bit the hook and started the process. It was pretty straightforward and was only on a 2 week timeline. Over the course of my life I've probably painted 2 dozen walls across 4 homes, always opting to do it myself. Charles Graves Contracting did an excellent job scraping, repairing, and painting an old historic house in a historic neighborhood with very high standards. The job required hand scraping the entire house to rid it of peeling and buckling old paint. This was tough to do because it is a very tall house with long eaves and 2 covered porches. Then Charles painted on a detailed 4-color-scheme paint job which was challenging because the house has a lot of windows and accentuated trim work. Charles was always able to make recommendations on the best products and paints to use for different situations. Lastly, Charles was willing to work in colder weather and under high pressure to finish the job quickly so that the house can go on the market. He succeeded in painting the house to the standards of the neighborhood and in time for it to hit the market without having to wait until spring time to finish the paint job. read more
